10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing Spa, outstanding food and wine, fantastic staff and facilities. Overall, a really nice romantic weekend and get away from the city.
7.9 Good
Pros: Great location, great views. Beautiful architecture and decoration.
Cons: There’s a clear lack of maintenance in the whole hotel, the bathtubs are old and other “details”. Few people working, much less than the needs... At the SPA and indoor swimming pool facilities no hairdryers available, showers not working, lack of towels, no one at the reception, and extremely slippery floor all around the swimming pool as well as a huge amount of water in the floor to the toilets.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The landscape, the daily get together with wine and snacks. Breakfast is great
Cons: The bathroom was awful, and the apartment smelled a bit. Also in the spa some tiles were Brocken. It looks nice on pictures but on second glance this hotel needs renovation.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: lovely and spacious property. very good restaurant.

Pros: Lovely tea-time which is in fact chocolate time with home baked scones and delicious jam and marmalade. Dinner in the dining room can be super romantic (we were alone) The suites have a fantastic bath tub to relax after a day o visit to the small town or the vineyards of the region.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely renovated historical ‘palace’ with many original features. Eight comfortable bedrooms, mainly in restored outbuildings. Excellent breakfasts in a beautiful setting with local produce and a daily freshly baked cake to a local or Madeira recipe. Small high quality chocolate factory onsite. Lovely swimming pool with shady mandarin trees. Plenty of sun-loungers. Wonderful attentive hosts who took a genuine interest in their guests. Very helpful with the language; with visits to the region and with recommendations for local restaurants. Provided excellent late afternoon buffet by the pool each day with local wines and fresh lemonade, and worked tirelessly to make guests feel welcome and to create that elusive ‘home from home’ atmosphere - incredible people! Whilst this isn’t an area for vegetarians - pork is the local speciality - the owners went to great lengths to provide delicious vegetarian food at the hotel and to give excellent local restaurant recommendations.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place! Big and comfortable rooms, great swimming pool, decoration in perfect symbiosis with an ancient building, that is well restored and maintained. The owners are very nice and friendly. They showed us the chocolate factory, gave us chocolate to try, and an excelent mid afternoon snack. The staff, namely, Monica, super attentive and diligent. Breakfast is great, more like Brunch, with eggs, several types of cheese, hams, bread, real juice, cake just made, and other stuff. 5 stars all the way.
Cons: Nothing

Recommended restaurant nearby was a nice surprise, great wines good food friendly service. Large comfortable beds, nice shower and bath . The decoration in the main house is great beautiful ceilings lovely big rooms. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Cons: The deep brown room colour is a little too much, very nice room but far too dark. The breakfast was a little too casually organised, no water, yoghurts and just felt a little half hearted. Finding the place a little difficult, passed twice in car before figuring out which building was the hotel. Some signage on the road would help.
