The White Elephant Hotel is the classic place to stay on Nantucket–an island landmark and one of my personal favorites. Located right on Brant Point, it’s not only close to everything in town, but also to where the ferry drops you off, so if you are arriving by ferry this is a great choice.
The White Elephant just went through a huge renovation, so its already chic rooms are recently refreshed and make for an amazing place to stay all year round. My top tip is to enjoy breakfast outside overlooking the water and return in the evening for a cocktail before dinner at the Brant Point Grill, which everyone calls BPG.
And, if you want to tour around, you will be happy to know that the White Elephant is really close to most things, like the White Heron Theater or the Nantucket Whaling Museum.

Nestled amidst the dunes of the island’s eastern shore, The Wauwinet is the place to book if you are looking for a romantic Nantucket getaway with your special someone. Surrounded by nature, this hotel offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of Downtown Nantucket.
Far away from everything else, this is a hotel where you will want to have a rental car, otherwise you will need to rely on the hotel’s shuttle into town. Nestled in the heart of town, the hotel presents a wholesome experience, as the contemporary design combined with nods to the island’s whaling past creates a unique ambiance that celebrates Nantucket’s rich heritage.
My greatest piece of advice: don’t miss their courtyard lounge, an ideal spot to unwind under the stars with a drink in hand, enjoying panoramic views of the quaint town below. And, because it is a Lark Hotel, they have a BYOB mixer bar each evening: just bring your favorite booze, and they will provide all the mixers you need to create the perfect cocktail.

For someone who has been to Nantucket many times and has already tried the trendy new hotels, I recommend booking a stay at the Jared Coffin House for the classic Nantucket experience. Whether you are staying at the hotel or not, book a dinner at the Nantucket Tap Room on the basement level of the hotel for an intimate, rainy-day dining experience with excellent food.

Another Lark Hotels location on the island, 76 Main is housed in a stately captain’s home not far from the island’s famous cobblestone main street. As soon as you walk into the hotel, you feel as if you have entered your very own summer house on Nantucket.
Similar to 21 Broad in design, as they are both funky chic Larks, this property is a bit more polished and serious, befitting its stately architecture. Don’t miss the complimentary breakfast each morning. As a Lark hotel, expect small bites that are healthy and tasty, freshly-brewed coffee, and more.
