The building is tradition and nice.

    1. Soundproofing is bad, drunkers are noisy to have party the whole night. They are not come to sleep, three people stay at one room, chat and playing music during the night. Call the operation, no improvement. Couldn’t sleep the whole night. 2. Terrible SAFETY. There is a guy used his key opened my door during the night. He already opened it! That is the worst part. 3.Temperature is too high in the room.

I booked the single cabin with a shared bathroom. For the money it's a fantastic value given the prime West Village location. If you're on a budget, just need a place to crash, and don't mind a tiny room with a shared bathroom, this is pretty much as good as it gets in Manhattan. The hotel definitely has character, from the decor all the way to the uniforms. - Fantastic location - Love the atmosphere, you can feel the history and it's really got its own vibe. Feels like you're in an old ship or something - Hip lounge/bar (only open at night though, and closed Sun-Tues though) - Fantastic price. - Rooms come with a large bottle of water + cups, and little slippers. Decent amount of sunlight in the rooms

    - Internet is extremely slow, barely approaching 1 Mbps (I was on the 5th floor, maybe it's better on others?). I wasn't even able to do a video call so I had to use my data. - Walls are very thin. There are a lot of rooms crammed right next to each other. Not the best place to book if you want a lot of privacy. - Room is small. No desk. The mirror along the wall is a nice touch though and makes it feel bigger. - Beds are small. I'm 5'11" and they were just barely long enough for me if I recall. If I were a couple inches taller I think my legs would be dangling off. - Ballroom is closed Sun-Tues, and locked during the day. Essentially there is no common area Sun-Tues and during the day (rooftop is closed in the winter). - I don't recall the shower having somewhere to put my shampoo/soap on top of. Ended up putting my bag on the ground where it got soaked - Only one elevator for 6 (?) floors, so you generally have to wait for it (though you can take the stairs). Elevator looks very plain/old inside, they need to add a mirror in there or something. - The key is very large and heavy.

    Lovely old venue. Comfy bed.

Well touted bar was closed to guests both nights of my stay without prior knowledge. Prime reason I chose your venue. Dont brag about what I will enjoy and the lock me out.

Only negative comment was the rooms were very hot when the radiators were on.

The Jane Hotel is a West Village landmark that stands out for its exceptional quirky accommodations and is a popular choice for hipsters on a tight budget. Other similarly priced hotels cannot compete with The Jane’s proximity to the thriving Meatpacking District neighborhoods and West Village.

Although quirky and unusual, the hotel has a fascinating background. The Jane Hotel once provided temporary lodging to survivors of the Titanic. Restored in 2008 from an apartment cooperative to a cute micro hotel, guest like the hotel’s stylish and unusually inexpensive accommodations. Straddling the Meatpacking District and the West Village, and across the street from the Hudson River promenade, the Jane Hotel is secluded and quiet. Some first-timers are skeptical of the non-bustling area, but just block eat they will find the hopping, trendy nightlife, restaurants, and art destinations they were looking for.

Many guests are eager to try a 50-square-foot Standard Cabin or a tiny, two-person Bunk Bed Cabin. These cleverly designed, tiny rooms feature under-bed cubbies for storage, a wall-mounted flat-screen TV with a DVD player, and an iPod dock. For a shower, guests can choose from one of the two shared bathrooms.

Two bars and one eatery at the Jane Hotel hold their own in an area known for trendy restaurants and nightlife. It is home to Nolita's popular, celebrity-filled Cafe Gitane. There's also a swanky rooftop terrace and bohemian Jane Ballroom, a dimly lit cocktail lounge and nightclub oozing in atmosphere.

Travelers must desire a unique New York experience to thoroughly enjoy the Jane Hotel. The neighborhood is the place to be low-key and youthful, but if guests are not into small rooms and communal bathrooms, they will find themselves uncomfortable.
