The hotel staff was excellent. Very friendly and attentive. The Hotel is close to major attractions and public transportation.
It is somewhat dated.
24 hour restaurant option. Location to MSG Lobby was lovely Many elevators Bed was very comfy Very clean
We asked for a few extra towels by phone and they never came. Room and bathroom were small. Paying an extra $100 for earlier and later arrival/departure Employee said she extended our later departure but d we were locked out when we returned at 2pm.
Location is fantastic. Easy access to the subway to take you in any direction. Across the street from Madison Square Garden. The hallways could be updated but the rooms have been renovated and the bed extremely comfortable.
The hallways on some floors could be updated.
Good location, very near subway.
Stayed here for 7 nights for a business trip. For a 4 star hotel, this is the worst one I have stayed at. Firstly, the room is very very dated and we paid $20/night more for a slightly better furbished room. No fridge ($30/night to rent), coffee machine is usually $27/night to rent (but included in the upgraded room), $5 to store each baggage after checkout. Front desk operator was very unprofessional over the phone. The only good thing, is the location. But if you want a good location, i’m sure there are plenty of better options. Just not the New Yorker.
Great location to Madison Square Garden
Room size way too small. Fire alarm at 3 am and no acknowledgement of the inconvenience.
The Wyndham New Yorker I a large hotel on the south side of Midtown West that attracts a healthy mix of business and leisure travelers, but the past is more alluring than its present.
The New Yorker is located eight blocks from one of the busiest intersections in the world, at 42nd and Broadway in Times Square. The physical location is on 8th Avenue, between 34th and 35th Streets, and only one block from one of the busiest train stations in the country, Penn Station. Despite its convenient location, the hotel is significantly less touristed and considered to locals at the Garment District. It’s within walking distance to plenty of popular sites including Times Square, the Empire State Building, the New York Public Library, Bryant Park, and Madison Square Garden.
Amenities on-site at the New Yorker include a fitness center, 24-hour business center, and meeting facilities for business travelers. It boasts of two restaurants, an Italian dining option open for lunch and dinner and a 24-hour diner offering a 50’s-era theme. Local dining options are in every direction, including the adventurous Koreatown. New York City offers three nearby airports, JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark. Each airport is 30-to-90 minutes from the hotel, plus offers shuttles and limos to the airport straight from the hotel.
Accommodations are basic but offer style and modern amenities such as flat-screen TVs, free WiFi, and iPod docking stations. There are two types of basic rooms, Metro and City View, both types offer queen beds and two double beds.
If being close to Madison Square Garden is a priority, the New Yorker is a solid choice. Plus, travelers can learn about the fascinating history of the building.
