The evening dinner and breakfast the following morning were very enjoyable and good sized portions. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is at the edge of town but as Newton Stewart is quite a small town it was easy and quick to walk to town. Our rooms were away from the main road, so nice and quiet in the evening. The rooms had a small kitchen / living area, bathroom with shower, single room and a double room and had everything we needed.
Minor points really, we were in the junior deluxe suites. Deluxe is probably pushing the description but they were clean and tidy. The small sky/roof windows in the main bedroom in one suite and in the small bedroom in the other suite were broken although they had been taped up and we were advised about it by the staff before we went to the rooms (they were waiting for replacements). We couldn't get the TV in one of the rooms to work (didn't try the other room).
this is probably the best hotel for the price we have ever stayed in. Huge room with built in closet space and lovely clean and bright bathroom. Unusually there was ample seating in that there was a 2 seater leather sofa and an armchair. Restaurant modern and clean and always busy. The bar again bust at all times. The food was great value and so very tasty. First night we have steak burgers and they were soo much better than the run of the mill beef burgers you normally get in pubs. Breakfast great. Second night was so busy that at 8pm there was a 20 min wait for food. The staff were all so lovely and friendly. Really work for their money here. Will defo be back.
nothing as it was fantastic. I should have booked for 3 nights.
The hotel has been renovated in recent years to a high standard for the costs of the rooms. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is adequate parking either in the hotel car park or a parking area next door.
The only criticism that I can think of is that the sausages at breakfast appeared to be undercooked one day. Apart from that, I was very satisfied and indeed pleasantly surprised at the excellent job they have done in renovating the hotel.
Good size apartment. Double bed a little tight but comfortable. Great to have dog with us too
No issues other than double bed being tight against wall.
The staff very friendly and helpful
