Great customer service and right next to the train stop so very convenient.
customer service was poor
nice hotel and room
lack of customer service at checkout and check in
The hotel is in a safe area and close to the el, the business area, and numerous restaurants. The rooms are spacious and well maintained. Oak Park is a beautiful city to visit.
Your hotel needs work. Very dull looking.
The room was good; good air. Convenient location.
The main facility needs upgrading. Would be nice if you had pet rooms.
Over priced
Location
Very old,, 50's style motel rooms.
Agree with previous reviews
Hotel is a wonderful old building. My room was cavernous with a small kitchenette and sitting room. Would have been wonderful if I were there for a longer time with work to do. The restaurant in the hotel is quite good, and there is also a very nice bar with fresh oysters and a good beer selection. Neighborhood is delightful with easy public transportation into the city (though it is a bit far to go).
Agree with previous post about heating and cooling. The window air conditioner worked fine on a very hot day, but was quite noisy. The remote for the TV needed new batteries, and they could not provide them at the desk; also, only a remote to control channels was provided, so it was annoying to use the TV's "sleep" function. Agree that most people would much prefer the main hotel where I was and not the newer motel portion, which seemed to have "tailgating" like activity in the parking lot. Was a little irritated that I could not receive a full itemized bill, and that people checking in while I was there were receiving rooms for a lower price.
It is not handicap accessible and they have no doormen or valets. You have to manage to drag your luggage up an/or down some stairs in the lobby to get to the check-in. And, when I got there, they said I was booked in the "motor lodge", a motel section. I would never have reserved a room in this section. I am familiar with this property. So, to move me they said I had to pay an extra $30.
Great location. Free parking. Rooms were we'll maintain and very comfortable.
good location near interesting architecture, quiet, efficient staff
I was nervous booking on line, but knew someone in area. Have booked before in bad areas when unknown. Character and location were perfect. Close to train, food, and felt very safe. Parking free! Room was large and even better than explained on internet.
When checked in front desk was not welcoming, The next more complete opposite, ladies were helpful and very friendly.
i got upgraded to a suite, extremely well kept hotel rooms, nearness to restaurants, and transportation.
Our room was very spacious. The bathroom was also big. We had a little table to sit at and a kitchenette. Everything was very clean. I would come again especially for an extended time since the room was so nice. The hotel was also close to the train into the city.
They ask us to conserve energy, etc. by using our towels more than one day. This was fine but they should provide more towel bars so all towel could be hung.
The rooms were very nice, and the staff were so helpful, but I'm used to the same level of luxury and service for about $100 less per night. Maybe that's just how it is in the big city.
No, everything was good. Just the price seemed high.
The historical atmosphere, great dining, and comfortable and spacious room.
The room was beautiful and very roomy. The food was very good too.
It is a nice place, a bit overpriced, but I supposed it's a matter of the locacation, and not much competition in the immediate area.
The hallways smelled badly of smoke, although the room did not. There is not a pool or whirlpool.
Llovely atmosphere, great bar, jazz every evening, no cover charge, excellent food.
the hotel itself, the food, the service, and the proximity to a variety of places to eat, shop or just enjoy and to transportation into Chicago
