Hotel Diamond Chico - Chico - Building
1
9.1 Excellent (418 reviews)
C$ 259+
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Diamond Chico in Chico, you'll be within a 15-minute walk of California State University-Chico and National Yo-Yo Museum. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The heritage, location near decent food, the restaurant.
Cons: More electrical outlets in the room, microwave oven.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, great decor, centrally located, historic
Cons: The price is kind of outrageous, especially for the area. Chico is a small, simple little town. We stayed here for our wedding night and then went to Monterey for our honeymoon. We paid less for a spa and suite with equally friendly staff, pet friendly and a badass restaurant in Monterey. Kind of odd.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Centrally located, with the diamond steakhouse opening it is an awesome added benefit

6.8 Good
Pros: It was clean . Staff was nice and polite
Cons: Thin floors. person below us pounding on ceiling when walking into room . Hot tub not working
7.5 Good
Pros: Very nice stay. Lots to do and staff was very nice.
Cons: I booked this hotel because it had a Jacuzzi, but it was broke when we went.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable for my husband, self and 2 cats at night, then filled with a dozen family members during the day for Christmas festivities. Was crowded but worked out very well. I was allowed to borrow 6 chairs from the conference room and we made it work. Lots of electrical outlets for our crockpots and buffet warmers, kitchen well stocked with utensils. All in all, I'd recommend this hotel and will stay there again myself!
Cons: The hotel was undergoing a remodel, our room looked very nice, but there was a slight smell of paint coming through the vents. Not bad considering they can't close entirely while remodeling and we really needed a hotel with a kitchen! All of the staff were wonderful except the woman who checked us in, a manager I think. Not a smile or extra word of welcome there...
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The ample space and the extra bedroom was a perfect fit for our family. The fully stocked kitchen was a great addition.
6.8 Good
Pros: Love the kitchen and pool across the way.
Cons: There were nasty stains on the couch and couch pillows. The carpet was filthy....
8.5 Excellent
Pros: We love the space of residents inn's and most importantly the full size refrigerator! The staff went above and beyond at this location & were just wonderful. The breakfast people and the front desk were just wonderful!
Cons: The only sort of downsize was each morning the coffees, creamers, shampoos, soaps, kleenex if needed & paper towels were not replenished. It was not that big of a deal, I just ran downstairs and got from the front desk, but could have been easier
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Actually breakfast was fabulous! Not warmed over food, but real fresh food. I especially liked how you had a scrabbled egg-white option. The best part we’re the make-it-yourself mini Belgian Waffles they were very light and crispy like a real waffle should be. Bravo on Bteakfast!!
Cons: Not one thing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff went above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of, we had some medical things going on & the staff was just wonderful with such hard things happening.
Cons: For some reason, we were there 5 nights,& every single day, the coffee/shampoo/kleenex(if needed) and paper towels were not replaced.not a big deal, but annoying.
6.8 Good
Cons: I think $199 for that type of room is a but much especially for being a small town.
9.3 Excellent
Cons: We needed more pillows.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Rude employees! And hotel could use some updating
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was an amazing room, especially for the price, it was super clean, and the staff were really nice.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything!!
Cons: None
9.5 Excellent
Cons: Two vehicles in the parking lot were taking Eleven parking spaces. It's certainly isn't the hotels fault but they should make it clear that if you have a oversize vehicle or are towing a trailer that you have to park on the street. I had to park at an adjacent business and walk to the hotel.
7.0 Good
Pros: Very clean and friendly staff.
Cons: A little expensive for what you get.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice that they had an evening reception and free breakfast. Room was large clean and comfortable.
Cons: Hallway had a musty smell. Also our in room refrigerator made weird loud noises that kept waking me up.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean, comfortable rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: No everything was perfect
6.8 Good
Pros: The staff member who help with our room change. She was what we would expect every staff member should be.
7.0 Good
Pros: The staff was amazing!! Incredibly kind and friendly and not just one person but all of them: front desk, maintenance staff, housekeeping staff, bar staff - everyone. They had breakfast and an afternoon/early evening soup and salad bar with coupons for adult beverages included. Complimentary ride to Sierra Nevada Restaurant. Plenty of parking. Even the parking lot was clean. Very close to several restaurant choices (all directly across the street). Shopping within walking distance. Great location.
Cons: The beds were horrid. So hard I couldn't sleep and ended up staying awake most of the night. Pool and spa were over crowded with children and teenagers who were way too noisy and took over as if it was their personal pool area. No respect for other guests and no staff around to get them to behave. Major let down in this area. Although we appreciated the complimentary soup and salad, the salad was macaroni salad not a salad bar as described.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Soup and drinks in the evening!!! Rooms are nice and big.
Cons: nope
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and courteous customer service.
5.8 Okay
Pros: pool
Cons: Apart from housekeeping and the bar staff in the early evenings who were excellent, I found the general quality of front desk staff poor. They going through the motions, and had little or no knowledge of the surround area facilities.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was great. Everything was very clean.
Cons: The smoke alarm was pulled and we had to exit the hotel for 45 minutes with a 2 week old baby. Thank goodness it was a false alarm.
Ponderosa Gardens Motel - Paradise - Building
4
8.7 Excellent (348 reviews)
C$ 148+
8.5 Excellent
Pros: The room was huge. The grounds were beautiful. The room had microwave and a bigger hotel fridge.
Cons: The ac had a little trouble the first day we were there but it was 108 outside which is very unusual for that area. Otherwise it froze us out at night! The room is updated but there are still some small things that shows the age of the motel. Not really worth the $129 a night that we paid, but since a name brand hotel doesn't exist in this town.....supply and demand takes over. There were mostly construction workers staying there at the time so the pool should be all yours!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I absolutely love this place! I stay here every time I need a room when visiting Paradise!

Pros: It was a comfortable hotel and we rested well. My daughter enjoyed the make your own waffles and the activos yogurt at the continental breakfast.
Cons: There wasn’t anything I didn’t like, we enjoyed our stay and will consider staying there again in the future.
5.5 Okay
Cons: Our bathroom floor was filthy. There was hair all over the floor and in the tub, and a cheerio on the floor. There was also trash on the floor near one of our beds. My husband spoke to the manager. Instead of apologizing for the dirty room, she made excuses that there are still people coming in from the Camp Fire in Paradise, ca and they can’t keep up with the cleaning. I’m sorry, but that is not an excuse for someone to have to walk on or sleep in the previous persons trash/filth. Makes you wonder how clean the bedding and towels were. There should still be pride in keeping your hotel clean for your visitors. Was I expecting a 5 star hotel?? No. Of course not! I just expected a clean room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and comfortable
7.0 Good
Pros: Front desk staff was very accommodating and responsive.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Check in was quick and easy. I was notified that they don't have an elevator in time to call and request a ground floor room. The pool was lovely and enjoyable. Plenty of space in the room!
Cons: Some silly things, since you ask. Half and half in the breakfast room for coffee and tea would have been wonderful. As I sat in the pool, I looked around for a hot tub and there wasn't one--it was 100 degrees, so I don't know if I would have used it, tho!
5.0 Okay
Pros: It was quiet, I didn't think it would be
Cons: Deception on price to stay there
7.0 Good
Pros: No
Cons: Coffee tasted burnt

6.3 Good
Pros: Bed was comfortable. Location was convenient.
Cons: Bad restaurant food. Staff did not go the extra mile.
4.5 Okay
Pros: Easy same day booking
Cons: Hotel under full remodeling (and it certainly needs it). They ask for our patience. Did they discount our rates, it didn't seem like it. Remote wasn't working. They said they would send someone right up. No one came. We had two conditioners and no shampoo in room. Breakfast room had worn out carpet, looked like they had cleared out a bar to use for breakfast.
4.3 Okay
Pros: The location was close the freeway.
Cons: I was not happy about my decision to stay at this hotel. There was construction going on that I was unaware of. I was told the makeshift bar and restaurant would be open until 9:00. It actually closed at 8:00. When I got to my room there was a pile of dirty towels in front of my door and the key card didn’t work. I had to walk back to the front desk to have the key reprogrammed. There was garbage in the halls. My room had a surge protector with all the outlets filled from the appliances in the room. It was covered with dust and dirt and was hanging because the cords plugged into it were stretched out to make them reach. The carpet had big brown stains. There was a young lady at the counter when we arrived who was polite but I don’t think she understood why I was unhappy. The person in the morning seemed clueless. I paid $166 because I thought the hotel would be nicer than some of the lower priced hotels I saw. Now I feel foolish for paying so much. At this point I would never recommend staying here. It was similar to a motel 6 or other really cheap hotel.
7.0 Good
Pros: Room #109 was very clean. I would stay there again if the repairs were made.
Cons: I expected more from a Ramada Inn. I was in Room #109 The shower head needs to be cleaned or replaced. The sink faucet did not work well at all. Needs to be cleaned or replaced.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Upon check-in put on the second floor with stained carpet & sheets popcorn ceiling, not a 3star hotel. So I complained and they put me on the fifth floor room was remodeled but Construction debris and garbage everywhere in hall loud noises all day
Cons: Front desk informed me there was room service but I would have to go downstairs to order and then take the food back up myself. Breakfast was not good burnt eggs etc. The fifth floor was full of debris chemical smell power tools going was not a good stay

Pros: Good location. Not too far of a drive from Chico State and Sierra Nevada Brewery.
Cons: Requested non smoking. The room smelled like smoke. I'm not sure if it's in the walls but my clothes smelled like cigarettes after my stay. Newer bed and shower (peeling plastic) would go a long way.

Pros: The people were friendly and the location was perfect for going back and forth from Nettleton Stadium .It was clean and quiet also
Cons: Parking could be difficult at various times but other than that we always found a parking space
7.5 Good
Cons: The constant barking of the 2 small dogs in the first room that had an a joining door...so they changed my room on the 3rd day..all was fine tell like day 5 or 6 and i got locked out of my room a few different times ..the door reader was messing up battery was dying and then lost memory to allow the key card to work...this went off and on for a cpl of days..even after they switched out the card reader from the door...so i switched rooms again.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Convenient location in Chico, CA. Denny's restaurant next door. Friendly staff. Clean accommodations. Reasonable cost.
Cons: Off & On barking dog's next door when there was activity outside. I did not complain to the desk but did make a comment to the desk. There was no barking at night, that I heard, so I slept well.

Pros: Friendly staff, older rooms but more than makes up with for it with the personal service and cleanliness.
4.3 Okay
Cons: Well we pulled in after a long days work and we have a handicap plates so we pulled into the spot to park for the person that was handicap could not walk as far. As soon as we did we were told by the hotel staff that we were not allowed to park there because they didn’t have a spot for people to pull into at night to talk to the staff. There were no other handicap spots so we were kicked out of the only one they had and was told that’s only for new customer parking. Also another night when we came back to rest, we came to find that out towels weren’t replenished and the bed wasn’t made. They didn’t clean the room and when asked why they referred us to the cleaning crew. Will NEVER go to this hotel EVER again! Worst staff ever and not clean!!!
4.3 Okay
Pros: Not a thing.
Cons: Both the towel rack and the toilet paper holder were broken off. The bathroom sink faucet came off in my husbands hand. The blanket on the bed had holes in it.
5.0 Okay
Cons: Says online they accept pets. After making a reservation stating we had a pet, no communication was made in their part. When we arrived it was made clear pets were not allowed. We slipped by with a large extra charge because we had no where else to stay. Rather dingy little place and staff are unprofessional to a point.
4.5 Okay
Pros: Honestly not much.
Cons: Slightly sketchy neighborhood but the building itself seemed safe. Lock your car up tight. Dirty facilities and a lot of broken things. Not worth the price for location or anything else.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing it was disgusting!!
Cons: Room door handle was dirty! Yellow stains on mattress. The floors were dirty. Shower towel was extremely thin. Toothpaste & poop was on the bathroom wall. Tub was dirty!! Attendant wasn’t very nice!!
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Price was about it. Camp Fire victims have taken just about all available rooms in area, so not much left for a decent price.
Cons: Front door didn't seal well, let light and noise in. Room was right on major road (Park Ave.) and speed of traffic left us wondering if someone was about to crash through wall and kill us. Room looks unfinished, painting quality is poor, shower curtain rod was falling off wall, A/C unit very noisy. TV reception (cable) was poor and snowy. Can't believe that in middle of Chico, TV programs cannot be watched clearly.
7.0 Good
Pros: Comfortable bed.
Cons: No pool.
1.0 Poor
Pros: The price was relatively inexpensive
Cons: The attendant charged me a “deposit” for the room, and even though I signed a receipt claiming I got a refund, I NEVER GOT MY DEPOSIT BACK. this motel is awful, dirty and the front staff clerk is a crook. He stole my money.. don’t stay
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I liked that all the rooms were non-smoking, and they don't allow pets. The woman at the front desk was professional, and funny. Really a great experience from a "value-priced" motel. Room was clean, and had recently been updated (except the carpet). Pretty much exactly what we were looking for!
Cons: Carpet either needs a deep cleaning, or replaced (Pergo!). The room was clean, and we were very satisfied with the accommodations, but the carpet was kinda icky.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The office lady was very nice
Cons: Nothing it was very nice
1.0 Poor
Cons: Extremely dirty room. towels that appeared that they used to be white were brown Half the light bulbs in the room were burnt out or not working Blankets and bedding were so gross I slept in my clothes in case they are were bed bugs

5.8 Okay
Pros: From what my worker told me, was very comfortable, nice room. He enjoyed proximity to Downtown Chico and appreciated the amenities that the hotel offered. He would like to stay there again. He enjoyed his stay very much.
Cons: Worker wanted to stay extra night. Gave hotel staff his card so we would not be charged or responsible for extra stay. Staff decided to charge our card instead. When confronted, staff said they didn't know what happened, offered no consolation or reimbursement.
7.5 Good
Pros: The staff was great.
Cons: Some real creepy druggies hanging around and stopping by to make drug deals.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: The front office lady put us at 3pm check in to room 222 that smelled of urine and cigarette smoke. She put us between 2 rooms that have people living in them and they kept smoking and smoking and the cigarettes came right in to our room. Stay away from this place! You would do better sleeping in your car. Breakfast was an absolute joke. I will never return here. Do yourself a favor and keep driving. This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. Close down the area where people are living in, no wait better yet, burn this place down.
Cons: The smell of room 222 was unbearable.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Pool but seemed like people who didn’t stay at the hotel can to use the pool.
Cons: Room we reserved was not available we had to speak to the manager and he lowered our price because the room was not available that we reserved.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location was central to the location of most of our plans so that was good. Front desk person at check in was nice.
Cons: Inside of shower curtain had mildew growth on about 40% of it. There were electrical outlets without cover plates in the room. The breakfast was dreadful. Everything was stale, there was no sugar for the coffee, only artificial sweetener, the breakfast counter did not appear clean.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Location is great!
Cons: The carpet is stained and had holes. There were empty bottles and cans In the room from a prior occupant. Wall electrical plug without a plate/cover. Front door did not seal and let through sound and light. Stair well leading to 2nd floor is filthy.
7.4 Good
Pros: Location to downtown Front desk staff nice
Cons: Hairdryer mounted on wall didn’t work, room phone didn’t work either to call and tell them...it’s a super cheap rate to stay close to college
1.0 Poor
Pros: The employees were nice.
Cons: When we arrived I noticed trash in the parking lot and there were building maintenance needs such as painting and new door handles and such. Our room was ok. The door did not shut properly and the neighbors were loud. The hotel needs a major renovation.
6.3 Good
Pros: The room has a refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave, sink in both sides of suite. Quiet at night.
Cons: There are 3-TVs, remotes are greasy and all switched around, try to find one that works the TV. AC on one side of suite inoperable, curtains ripped off rod. This room was well used, probably from Camp Fire people, needs repair. Shabby carpet. I left a day early.

5.0 Okay
Pros: The room was sketchy at best. No effort put into making sure it is clean. Clearly they don’t sweep or mop onto corners. Toilet had blackish/grey stains. Abandoned light fixture in bathroom over shower leaves very little light in the ADA shower. At least the sheets were clean and smelled freshly laundered. Had to go to office to get shampoo and soap as there was none in the room.
Cons: See above

Pros: Location close to downtown. That’s it!!!
Cons: Ants in the bathroom; I had to clean and wipe down the bathroom; The fan vent in the bathroom was dripping hunks of dust and dirt and was unsecured with the wires and facing hanging down the wall; The sheets were like sandpaper and the main cover was stained and smelled musty; The air conditioner absolutely did not cool the room and I need the cool air to help me breathe have severe asthma and smelled dirty; Had a very hard time breathing as the room was supposed to be nonsmoking but smelled of smoke; The concrete in front of our room, on the steps, and the parking lot had litter, stains, and smelled of urine.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is perfect. Staff was helpful.
Cons: need to upgrade the air conditioners.
4.3 Okay
Pros: Staff was friendly and helpful. The reservation was for 2 nights but only 1 night got recorded. Staff was able to rectify
Cons: Place needs serious updating. Electrical outlets were not to code, a fire hazard, multiple cords attached to 1 outlet. Breakfast was meager, coffee was terrible. Creepy people outside talking at 3 am. Cigarette butts all over the parking lot. Will not stay here again

5.0 Okay
Pros: The location
Cons: The carpet was very stained and it covered over things on the floor that were disconcerting. I think the lumps were metal. But we sometimes tripped over them.
2.5 Mediocre
Cons: A large noisy group of homeless people were staying in room next to us. Even when I called management about noise, nothing was done to remedy the situation. The person working at the hotel started partying with the group. We could hear him talking about his job. Horrible experience. Worst experience in a hotel.

2.0 Mediocre
Pros: One staff member was pleasant
Cons: Two staff members were unpleasant, the room was tiny and disgusting. The carpets were filthy, there were bugs, the sheets were not clean and there was grit or crumbs in the bed. Paint was peeling off the walls, the TV barely worked and did not have the channels described, the WiFi did not work, the shower curtain was stained and moldy, the window curtain was covered in holes that let hundreds of bright light beams stream into the room first thing in the morning, the toilet did not flush all the way leaving feces floating in the bowl, the towels were extremely thin, scratch and somewhat stained, there was no bathmat, the freezer was almost a solid block of ice and the air conditioner smelled of mildew. It was horrible.
2.2 Mediocre
Pros: I enjoyed the transients walking through the parking lot at midnight. Along with the scary movie atmosphere of the hotel. Oh, and the smell. I would have been more comfortable sleeping in my car.
Cons: About $65 over priced. You can't fit in the shower if unless you're a contortionist. Seriously, the worst place I've ever stayed in my life. Spend the money, stay at Oxford.
2.8 Mediocre
Pros: Maybe the location.
Cons: The people were rude and not at all helpful: "You don't need to know our names, whoever is at this front desk will help you". The room: no bathroom soap (of course this was probably on purpose because the shower had no soap dish, tray, ledge or anything else: had to use the floor), dirty, and nothing worked well.
4.8 Okay
Pros: The bed was comfortable, everything seemed exactly what was expected of a 2/5 rated place
Cons: I didn't like that one of the desk guys working there mis used my information and CALLED my personal cell phone to ask if I wanted to meet up and wanted to talk to me when I was alone. He called multiple times and harassed me in the same conduct. A police report is being made, definite creep.
4.5 Okay
Cons: Fridge didn't work and no chain type lock for the door

Cons: DO NOT stay there!!
5.5 Okay
Pros: I feel a lil bad giving poor reviews but feel folks should know the waters they are treading. It was actually pretty comical how dingy this place was. My inner trash queen was highly amused. This place would be perfect for shooting a faces of meth style reality tv show in, not that thats really on the establishment. We woke up to juggalos woop wooping at like 9am. As for the actual space it wasnt that bad for the price... But i was raised in shasta county tho sooooo. Full disclaimer...The towels had what looked like old makeup and period stains. The telephone was missing tons of buttons and there were splatters of who knows what on the walls. Some burn holes in the bed. Old ranch in the freezer kinda place. I was transported back to my hometown of shasta lake city in the 90s. Oh nostalgia. If you're goin for a david lynch or john waters kinda vibe id highly recommend this dream boat. Good cable. Mean girls was pretty lit.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I like the area of the rooms.
Cons: you have to keep checking in, even if you are staying extra days
5.0 Okay
Cons: No working phone, towels were disgusting I went out and purchased some. Remote needed batteries replaced and I was told to come to office and get them. Manager eventually cane down with batteries
6.2 Good
Pros: Was in Chico for sons graduation. Basically slept and showed, 6 hour stay. Friendly staff, overall clean would stay again for the same reason.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Leaving
Cons: The man at check in was rude. The room itself was filthy. The bed was so worn out would have been more comfortable sleeping on floor. The bedding and towels were stained.
6.2 Good
Pros: My friend and I stayed at this motel overnight after a concert. We arrived in the day time and the room didn't look too shabby at all. Good for the price. There were older men sitting outside in the sun and kids riding their bikes around the parking lot, so I didn't get a bad vibe at all. And the location is great only 5 minutes from downtown. The room didn't look dirty. Can't speak on the bed since e brought our own blankets and didn't sleep under the covers.
Cons: When checking in, the staff wasn't that friendly, but whatever we were only there for one night. As far as amenities, the water was like warm and the fridge didn't work which we discovered the next morning when all of our food/drinks weren't cold. Didn't feel too safe late at night for a couple young women. As we were getting out of a cab, some older man hopped in to ask if we had fun, and then disappeared. The taxi driver said he was a tweaker. Scared the crap out of us! Not too long later, someone was banging on our door at like 1am. When we responded through the door, it was a man yelling "You got a cup?!". Definitely made sure every lock was locked that night!
