Pros: This boutique hotel is as magical as the town itself! The staff were beautiful persons, the room cozy, comfortable and quiet with all the luxury amenities. For me, the biggest plus were the huge patio with amazing decor right in front of huge, stunning gardens filled with fruit trees, hummingbirds, maguey, art and little ponds. It was so nice to be 800 ft away from the main square, even though that square is pretty quiet as well. We will surely stay here again, since we will definitely visit Patzcuaro again! Truly a magical town! Anneli

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Gorgeous, comfy, and above all the staff working there are terrific, helpful, friendly, and kind.
Cons: The only thing not to like was that I couldn’t stay longer!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We arrived by mistake one day early and Alejandro was wonderful! He had one vacant King room that he quickly had made up so that we all could stay even though we were not expected until the next day. Alejandro and Leticia and the other two ladies working there were so pleasant and kind. They even offered us space in the fridge in the kitchen and we were able to cook a light supper for ourselves. The property is very unusual and is beautifully decorated. The beds are fantastic! And we loved having a fireplace in each room. It was also so convenient to have the parking lot right across the street.
Cons: The two King rooms are extremely spacious and will be beautiful once they are completed. But, it was somewhat difficult to organize our belongings without closets even though Alejandro went out of his way to make us comfortable.

7.5 Good
Pros: Lovely facility. Spacious and comfortable room and bed. Excellent breakfast Fire place and fire.
Cons: Very cold at night (late December), and rooms stayed cold during the day. Nice to have a fire place. Wood doesn't last too long and not enough to warm the room, but nice to sit by and hear.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is beautiful, super clean, super comfy and clean linens in bed.
Cons: Bring ear plugs because the dogs of the area bark all night and then the rooster starts singing at 4 am. Coffee from breakfast was not good.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The bed was very comfortable. It was very cold at night, but extra blankets were provided. Staff were great
Cons: Wi-Fi was spotty, did not reach our room very well. Had to sit outside or in dining room to access.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfy beds, hot shower with great water pressure! Super staff!!
Cons: No wifi upstairs in the rooms
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in a great location near the open market and the centro square. The building itself is large and gorgeous. It was very clean and the staff was OK. The king bed was awesome and very comfortable. The room was very large, plenty of furniture. The shower had plenty of hot water. The room was cleaned and refreshed every day. There was a large and beautiful living area right outside our room.
Cons: There was no window in our room. No access to clean fresh air and there was a terrible smell coming from the bathroom sink vents. After a 3 day stay, we finally found the source of the horrible smell and plugged the vents with wads of toilet paper. There were speakers playing music in the corridors that I did not appreciate during siesta time and the music stayed on until about 9:30 at night. With no windows in the room, it was pitch black inside - even during the day. We did not ask for another room - our stuff was already unpacked and all over the place and it seemed like we'd be better off waiting out our stay. We did not see any other rooms with windows, anyway. Also, there is no restaurant or bar attached to this hotel. No coffee available - had to go down the street to the Oxxo.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice Ambiente and very friendly and helpfully staff
7.5 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: We could not get heat in our room. We asked the man at the front desk for assistance but he did not know what to do. He should know how to operate the control.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: The view is magnificent. The personnel were friendly and helpful. They brought us coffee, pan dulce and fruit to our terrace. This was great until we started class-so enjoyed 2 days of our stay.
Cons: I would’ve liked a breakfast kitchen. Earlier coffee since we had early meetings. But this was a minor inconvenience.
7.1 Good
Pros: Free breakfast and coffee. Good location.
Cons: Booking.com had the listing as "terrace view". We had no terrace view and were on the first floor. Should not have charged me as much for a deceiving room.
7.1 Good
Pros: The lake view is better than expected; easy to arrive and get into town if you have a car. Rooms are spacious. For a quick stopover of one night in Patzcuaro, I'll probably get back to this place, for a longer stay, I'd rather look for something more classy closer to the centre.
Cons: The hotel is right on a busy road, there is considerable noise from passing trucks. The installations are nice but basic.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nothing

Cons: Location to Centro, a drive was necessary.

Eco Hotel Ixhi - Pátzcuaro - Building

Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and laundry facilities. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available on request), and free self parking is available onsite.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel in rustic, traditional design. It contains a lot of wood, potted plants, a fountain and many lovely decorative items. Staff was super friendly. The gentleman who did the check-in immediately (without even asking!) provided us with the region's programm for Semana Santa, pointed out the most recommandable events and informed about temporary road closures we had to keep in mind. The hotel is located on a hill and has a stunning view over the lake including Isla de Janitzio. Our room had a terrace facing the lake. It was so relaxing to sit there at sunrise with a hot drink (the room includs a coffee machine and proper coffee!) and listen to the sound of the wind chimes. The hotel is located on a hill. It is possible to walk down to the center in 20 minutes.
Cons: Walls are paper thin, we heard our neighbours all the time. This was especially annoying at night time. The curtains do not block out the light. This is an issue as the hotel premises are very well illuminated at night. Our room featured a lovely terrace, but the terrace door is not secure. It has a lock, but with a little push it could be opened. This could cause issues as the terrace is theoretically accessible for every guest. Close to our room there was a generator that caused regular noises. There is a simple breakfast buffet available, but 165 MXN per person is by far overpriced! No idea if this was a raise during Semans Santa or if the lack of alternatives is exploited here. The hotel claims to be "eco", but house keeping threw away the soap bar we had used only for a day. The last 200 or so meters of the road to the hotel are steep, without asphalt and with huge holes. Parking is very limited and contains obstacles (tree trunks, holes, concrete corners, etc.). WiFi is extremely weak, in our room it did not work at all. But forget about the web, enjoy the view!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast, large bed, extraordinary view on the lake and island Janitzio, really beautifully decorated for the Day of the Dead, room decor was really nice
Cons: The bathroom was very cold and the roof of the bathroom was leaking when it was raining. There was a problem with the flush in the toilet, but this was quickly fixed.
7.1 Good
Pros: The property itself is beautiful and clean however the musty smell in the rooms never went away and a bit overpowering. Breakfast was supposed to be included everyday during our stay however one morning the dining room wasn’t even open. Beautiful views of lake and very nice artwork in rooms and outside.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Stunning view, great staff and breakfast in BED! A 40-50 peso ride to town
Cons: I had the opportunity to stay in 2 rooms. One had decent wifi and the other didn't have any. Rooms were advertised to have either a kitchen or jacuzzi tub but neither of my rooms had either.
7.5 Good
Pros: The view it’s amazing , very romantic at night . It would have been much better if they have the restaurant or bar open so we could appreciate the view .
Cons: You can hear all the noises of the guest passing by
7.5 Good
Pros: Great location, great view, great room!
Cons: The services were not as expected or as mention on the website (no breakfast included, no massage, no spa, etc.)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The View is great just loved it
Cons: The road to hotel needs a lot of work very rough
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Every thing
6.3 Good
Pros: The location offerred a panoramic view of the lake, mountains, and city. The hotel as viewed through the photos on their website is accurate. Lovely. The weather on the hillside where the hotel is located is cool to cold. A 15 minute walk to downtown brings you to “pleasantly cool”. We arrived on a Friday afternoon and whwn I inquired about breakfast the next morning learned that breakfast was an only on Sunday event...at this time. The staff was helpful...it took a little doing to get a good wifi signal...but mission accomplished. My companion was cold...cold...cold. An electric heater and extra blankets were available in the room to offer comfort. At this time in Pátzcuaro and the State of Michoacán gasoline is difficult to acquire for your car. All 3 of Pemex stations were closed. 1 independent operator had gasoline... and cars lined up for 4 blocks...with walk-up customers with large empty plastic gasoline containers in hand. Areas of Mexico are experiencing a shortage of gasoline due to pipelines being tapped and corruption. None of the Pemex stations on the toll road/Cuota from the Pacific Coast north to Morelia had any gasoline. So remember...if you are driving a car in Mexico...when you come upon a gas station with gasoline stop and fill-up/top-off your tank. Viva Mexico

10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's very confortably and near to Patzcuaro's down town.
Cons: Every thing like me
7.5 Good
Pros: It's an older hotel with some updates. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. The gardens are beautiful.
Cons: There was no AC and the windows are bolted so there is no way to get some breeze into the room. You can hear EVERYTHING the people in the next room are doing.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: My room was laid out nicely and was attractive but a little dark. The bed was very comfortable. Light switches and outlets were plentiful and appropriately placed. The Internet was good enough. There were chairs and a coffee table in the room. Outside the room was a veranda with good chairs. The garden in front of the veranda was beautiful. The room was quiet. The bathroom was a little bit small but the water pressure was good, as was the hot water. The sink and shower and toilet drained well.
Cons: The room lighting could be brighter. I would have liked a better desk and chair combination to function as a work desk.

Pros: Everything was excelente!

6.3 Good
Pros: The view and the food
Cons: The price that we pay, some surprises arrived
5.0 Okay
Pros: The view from the room
Cons: We did not have hot water in our room. It was hard to get out of the property in the morning. Bar was closed early. They only gave us one hour yo enjoy the Jacuzzi
10.0 Excellent
Cons: They charged me for alchohol I didn't drink...
5.4 Okay
Pros: The view was gorgeous and the in room fireplaces were a plus.
Cons: Our first room didn't have hot water, and after a long day traveling, this was a non-negotiable. I called the front desk twice before someone came. The guy that came saw it didn't work. He said we could take a shower in another room if we wanted to. When I suggested they move us to another room he called his manager to check if this was ok. His manager told him we could move but we would have to pay the difference. I pointed out this was unfair as we were moving because we had no hot water - not our fault. He again left to speak with his manager. When he came back he told us we were able to move. We moved into the new room and I quickly checked if the hot water worked - it did! We settled into the new room and I went to take a shower...this is when I discovered there was no cold water - the water was hot enough to burn my skin off. At this point we didn't want to have to go through the drama of changing rooms yet again, so we gave up and washed up using a towel. Did I mention we also did not have a heater in the second room? At least we put the fireplace to good use...For $170 a night, this is CRAZY. Yes, the views are gorgeous and the rooms have a definite quaint vibe. We in fact went there because we were searching for something calm and quaint for our upcoming wedding. However, the thought of our families and elder relatives having to deal with what we dealt with, at that price point - it's just not worth it to us.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: View, staff, room
Cons: The price

7.1 Good
Pros: Traditional Spanish/Mexican architecture and balcony were beautiful. Very safe for a woman travelling solo.
Cons: Constant loud noise from the street could be heard clearly inside the room 8am - midnight. Car alarms, loudspeakers, honking cars, traffic whistles, children crying, very load music in the streets. The hotel is located on the busiest plaza in the town.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Antique and Modern. Great Location. Wonderful Staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were charming and spacious and even though the hotel is situated on the main square, the noise was not bothersome. I also loved the extremely high ceilings and rustic decor.
Cons: Finding coffee in the morning was a bit difficult. Having a small coffee maker in the room would be nice, or coffee made in the restaurant earlier than when I found it.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: In the junior suite, amazingly vivid sounds could be heard late into the night. The usual street noise plus babies crying, drunk people, a dog fight, lead pipes falling and cars with subwoofers nearby. There’s also a grand piano and an unlit fireplace.
Cons: Front desk staff could not be bothered to acknowledge or help us and rather talked on the phone upon arrival for an extra 5 minutes. The beds aren’t that comfortable.
6.3 Good
Pros: The location was really central
Cons: The room had no window and it was so dark....
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel and staff were extremely helpful, location was excellent, they park your car for you and upon check out they'll retrieve it. Very important extremely limited parking at Patzcuado.
Cons: N/A
6.3 Good
Pros: Location is good
Cons: Streets around the hotel are very busy, hard to reach the hotel by car. Only few parking spot in front of the hotel, need to bring the car 10min away Room had two windows above a very loud street with poor noise isolation, could not sleep well.

7.9 Good
Pros: "The room was nice and clean and the environment was quiet.
Cons: Distance to the town and the bed was too hard for me.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Giving location a good rate because the hotel is on the skirts of the old-town area, making it an easy access, ample property and quiet forest-like feeling. Rooms have enough room for 3-4 people, especially the ones facing the RV-parking lot. During our stay, all our RV-neighbors were very quiet and respectful people, many from far North America.
Cons: Our room seemed all cleaned and done when we got it, until we found many spiderwebs and spideys in small corners all around. We informed the admin and she kindly put us in another room which was way cleaner on this respect.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The peace and quiet of this place was a welcomed relief after two nights in an inexpensive hotel in Centro Patzcuaro located right off Plaza Chica. This place is well located about a block from Bodega Aurrera. The beds were comfortable. The room was a good size, clean and comfortable.
Cons: The wi-fi signal was weak to non-existent in our room (#7). But when I sat by the pool closer to the wi-fi router I discovered that the Internet speed was crappy as well. For hot water to reach the shower in room #7 it took 15 minutes of running the shower.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The architecture and history of building.
Cons: I think the cost of breakfast is a bit high. It could be less. Don't think the cost meets the value of food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great and clean
Cons: The place is extraordinary great, the only problem is if your room is near the restaurant area, in the mornings you can be disturbed by the noise, but if you are a deep sleeper no big deal..
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Fantastic value for money. Great central location. Clean spacious rooms cleaned daily.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: I liked the hospitality of the place and the people.
Cons: Its small, tranquil, and authentic.
7.9 Good
Pros: The man working on February 6, 2019 was extraordinary in his kindness and attention. Very special.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were very nice and the property is attractive and in a good location. The rooms are comfortable enough for the price.
Cons: The bathroom and room lighting could be better. With a little effort and remodeling, this hotel could be more attractive. It's generally quiet, but howling dogs woke me up one night and forced me to change hotels. This was not the host's fault, obviously, and they responded very sympathetically to the situation, so I have no complaints.

Cons: no heater in the room, Patzcuaro gets pretty cold this time of year.
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel is attractive, well located
Cons: We had trouble getting hot water. The restaurant in the hotel was mediocre and expensive. Staff seemed only mildly interested.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, comfortable and a great location. Beautiful historic District. Will return.
Cons: N/a
5.8 Okay
Pros: These are lovely rooms and very quaint. But the noise from the street prevents any possibility of a restful night and all three rooms we booked were on the main floor and extremely noisy.
Cons: Noise! Noise! Noise!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I got a good deal on my room.
Cons: Staff does not know the reservations of the day until later in the morning. They had to call some other location to confirm. Staff did not know about tours or how to get to some places.
7.9 Good
Pros: The better rooms were lovely. Location good. The bah in my room was fabulous especially on a cold evening! The second room I stayed in had an electric heater which was necessary if one spent any time sitting in the room.
Cons: The receptionists varied. The ‘manager’ was great but The young receptionist when I arrived did not speak any English and was not very helpful or attentive. The so called ‘views” mentioned on the booking.com site were non existent from all the rooms as far as I could tell. Also the photograph of the hotel used on the booking.com site is not of the hotel. The wifi was non existent in one of the rooms I stayed in.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Location
Cons: No natural Lighting ok the room (no outside windows) No wifi No breakfast (even when they said that was included)
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: the hotel was overbooked -even though it was still offering up rooms on kayak - they - without any notification - booked us a room in another hotel which was not good at all. I am fighting for a refund as we had to book a much more expensive room at a nearby hotel.
2.0 Mediocre
Cons: In June I reserved a room at Posada La Basilica for the weekend of Day of the Dead...31 October - 3 November. In July the hotel decided to triple its prices for that weekend, and told me that my room was no longer available because the hotel was "overbooked". I understand their desire to charge the highest prices the market would bear, but cancelling a pre-confirmed and pre-paid reservation is slimeball.
4.6 Okay
Pros: Building complex is beautiful.
Cons: I asked for a room away from noise and they gave me a ground-floor with windows to the main road. Noise was overwhelming (you could also hear EVERYTHING from the room next door since the separation between rooms was an old door that didn't reach the ceiling!). Room was very dirty, surfaces had a thick dust layer. There was no hot water on my first night there and water is painfully cold in that weather. I had to pay extra to switch to another room that was also dusty. Phone was broken and they never fixed it, so every time I needed anything I had to personally walk to reception. Mattresses were too hard and old, very uncomfortable. Wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.
