FAQs - booking Mexico flights

  • Are there any direct flights to Mexico?

Several airlines such as Air Canada, Aero Mexico and the low-cost carriers WestJet and Interjet offer direct flights to Mexico City International Airport (MEX) and Cancun International Airport. Most non-stop flights depart from major Canadian airports such as Toronto Pearson International Airport, Vancouver International Airport and Montreal International Airport. If you want to travel to any other destinations within Mexico, you’ll be able to find a wide range of connecting flights with one layover in a Canadian, US or Mexican city.

  • Do I need a visa to travel to Mexico?

Canadian passport holders do not need a visa if they are travelling to Mexico for tourism purposes and their stay does not exceed 180 days. You will be required to present a valid passport and fill out a tourism card, the "Multiple Migratory Form for Foreigners (FFM)", which you should receive from your airline or the Mexican authorities at your point of entry. This tourist card should be stamped by an officer upon arrival.

  • Where should I fly to within Mexico?

Many major Mexican cities have their own airports, and so the airport that you should travel into depends on your specific travel itinerary. Mexico City International Airport and Guadalajara International Airport (GDL) are centrally located and both provide a good base from which you can travel to other regions of Mexico. Monterrey International Airport (MTY) is the main hub in the northeastern part of Mexico, so you can easily catch a connecting flight from Mexico City or Cancun. If you want to visit the southern regions of Mexico, Cancun International Airport might be your best option.

  • Which airport is best to get to the Riviera Maya?

The Riviera Maya stretches across approximately 100 km of Caribbean coastline, south of Cancun, and is famous for its resorts and coastal towns such as Playa del Carmen and Tulum. The most convenient airport to fly into is Cancun International Airport, which is serviced by multiple international airlines and is easily accessible from all major Canadian hubs. Upon arrival, you can rent a car at the airport and drive south on the Federal Highway 307 along the Caribbean coast.

  • Which airlines fly from Canada to Mexico the most frequently each day?

Among all of the carriers that connect Mexico and Canada, Air New Zealand Airlines offers the most dependable service. If you want to boost the reliability of your ticketing from Canada to Mexico, Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) is the finest choice to take into account as your departure airport. Several airlines that offer international flights to Mexico use this airport as their hub.

  • Where should one take a flight from if they want to enjoy watching sports in Mexico?

If you're travelling to Mexico and want to attend the local sports competitions, you might wish to fly into Toluca International Airport (TLC). The majority of Mexico's stadiums are located in Mexico City, the capital city of the country. You can attend your favorite local athletic events at Akron Stadium and Aztec Stadium, especially on weekends. These stadiums are reachable from TLC Airport thanks to the availability of taxis, buses, rental automobiles, and the rail system.

We were unable to land in Liberia. It was not the airline’s fault, but we had to be diverted to SJO.

We had things stolen from our luggage, we also were refused an upgrade on a flight that was not full.

When we left, it wasn't Great . People were drinking heavily, very disrespectful Extremely loud, the entire trip. I think the crew members, should have get their attention. Coming back was great.

I sat in the club. The seeds were fantastic. The meal was great and Entertainment was good. The crew was fantastic. I recommend it to everybody.

The food was small portions and not fresh. I was seated at the back of the plane so by the time the cart approached me most of the food options were sold out. The cabin crew was fantastic however.

Great flight and crew. Food isn't free and neither are headphones...

We were in economy class but paid for option Plus which offer you an extra snack after take off, free earplugs & blanket. The crew were very attentive. The comfort however wasn’t great, hard to be comfortable in such restraint place. Wasn’t able to sleep through out the 7hrs flight and was exhausted upon arrival.

The flights were on time and the crew was friendly and helpful. The food was ok. The seats were quite cramped and if the seat in front was tipped back there was very very little room. The entertainment was only on your own device and there was no usb charging

Boarding and staff were excellent. The food was ok. Very cramped seating. No existent entertainment other than on iPhone over wifi with poor choices of movie or shows. Bring your own entertainment. Nowhere to charge your phone

Lousy No wheelchair. As normal at Atlanta Cheap airline Cheap aero plane. - Neither entertainment nor food on a 5 hour saga

The airplane was an old airplane, seats were very uncomfortable and very little space, they changed my seat and that was no option to get back into my seat even when I was traveling a senior who required assistance.

This is not a low cost airline. Stop acting like o e.

Aeromexico crew made me check my hand luggage in the door of the plane. As soon as I reach Mexico City, I notice that my luggage was opened and 8 games of Nintendo Switch were stolen (700 dllrs value aprox) (the console was there) but the games were stolen. I am very dissapointed of Aeromexico and all the crew. Instead of being a good trip, It was a sad trip

Ok. But we arrived to a remote terminal which meant that a bus had to take us to the terminal building

Old aircraft the audio of the entertainment dosent work Dirty seats

The plane was so outdated, that it made it uncomfortable. The temperature was hot during the whole flight

Happy attentive flight crew. All in all good flight the night flight works well. Getting into Mexico City early so you don't get caught up it all the immigration and custom ques, additionally, this helps when exiting the airport and crossing the city to your final destination. All works very well and would do it again

Some entertainment and food/snack service would have been nice

All the pessengers should be wait in a line útil the creo and piloto are arrived.

Too squished in seats. I'm 110 lbs and 5'6....can't imagine being any bigger and flying

The flight attendants were great, but not much room while sitting and it would be nice to get free movies.

Absolutely the worst airline I have ever taken. They lost my baggage and told me my bag tags had been cancelled. When my bags arrived days later I had to pick them up at 3:15 am. My return flight was delayed another 6 hours and they broke my bag. Westjet does nothing to try and make it a better customer experience and all the customers services representatives I spoke with were useless and incompetent. Never flying westjet again.

Easy self checkin and baggage drop. No in seat entertainment, but wifi and app worked well

it's all good nothing you can do make better 😌

Flight was delayed due to mechanical issues to the point that I missed my connection and had to wait for 6 hrs in Calgary... thankfully I wasn't in a rush or that would have been annoying

It was an awesome experience flying with Westjet. This was my first domestic flight experience in Canada.

Single flights to Cancun purchased through third-party, initially had issues printing luggage labels with the lady at the airport Pearson… Was super friendly and assisted quickly despite being very busy

Original flight canceled and communicated poorly. A series of gate changes , delays and plane changes followed. Even after the entire flight boarded there was another plane changes followed. Food vouchers provided to my travel companion but not to me despite being on the same reservation. No in flight entertainment. The entire experience was terrible although the flight crew were great.

It was great being a direct flight from Calgary to Tokyo. No transfer to worry about.

My flight was delayed for more than 18 hours no accommodations was provided spent the night at the airport

Economy middle seat was so narrow that I could not sit back comfortably with passengers on either side of me. Over the 9-hour flight, with my body slightly twisted most of that time, my previously-healthy left knee became very painful, even though I got up to walk multiple times. The knee is still painful 3 weeks later. Otherwise, it was a nice flight, but I was crippled over my entire vacation.

flight was delayed, there was open communication about the delay the delay pushed way past the posted delay time and

This was my first time flying on Air Canada and the experience was good and pleasant enough, great crew members and the price I paid was amazing,

This was my first time and the experience was good and pleasant enough, great crew members and the price I paid was amazing,

I was overcharged either by United or sister airline Air Canada. It's exhausting dealing with companies nowadays that irresponsibly abuse access to credit/debit cards.

My flight was delayed, causing a shortened connection to my second flight, which led to a stressful experience. Additionally, I had to pay the luggage fee twice, for which I have receipts. Since Air Canada and United Airlines collaborate, their partnership should aim to provide better service, rather than leaving passengers to bear the consequences of an unprofessional experience.

Service and crew very organised however the plan and seat seemed very dated and not enough space

One leg of the flight arrived late which necessitated a rebooking on the next leg. Although there were no major weather events in play, best choice offered was a 7 hour wait in the Vancouver airport for a 4 hour totally packed red eye flight to Ottawa. No opportunities to return earlier via other major hubs like Toronto or Montreal. Felt very much like national routes were no longer well supported. Adding insult to injury, entertainment system for my seat was out of order. Thought I might use wi-fi, but discovered it would cost $10 per hour! Paid a lot for the flight as it was over the holiday period. Probably won't be doing that again.

Plane was smooth. More of a YVR issue, but the gate at departure was JAM PACKED with people and departing flights. Literally standing room only around the gates... This should be staggered or spread out better. Other than that, the flight was fine.

Leg room was terrible and seats very narrow. Flight was also delayed.

The worst airline experience that I ever had in my life. The fare was cheap but boy do you pay for it when it comes to baggages, carry-ons, food on board and lack of available staff at check-in. Almost every other passenger on my flight had the same complaints and experience. We all bonded discussing our displeasure. My husband and I will definitely not be traveling with Flair Airlines. We'll take anyone else.

The most uncomfortable plane I ever fly on. The seats won't even recline a little. For a 5 hrs flight at night and tired it felt like torture

Seats in 1 res are dispersed all over the plane, even child was across

Personally, I will not use this fight again. The service is poor, you have to buy even water. They don't provide anything even sneak, you have to buy. They said Personally items for 7 kg. Then they use some measurements, if you have 7kg and if it's not getting inside of their measurements, you have to pay 80$ this is robbery. I will prefer other flight then this. I am désappointement taking this airplane.

It’s a shameful company. It ask as to go to counter to take the boarding pass, they simply send it by email, just to check the bags’ size in a smaller than normal template. DONT USE FLAIR! It will be more expensive than normal airlines at the end.

flight was okay, no wifi, no free drinks but worst of all they lost my son's bike for four days. Customer service was nonexistent - call a number that leaves you on perpetual hold, there's no baggage folks in the baggage claims area (in vancouver). we went up to international and nobody was at ticketing, went to domestic and they had us fill out a form. they could not tell us where the bag was. Anyway, highly recommend you drop an airtag for anything that's worth more than $500. My son's bike costs a lot more than that to replace; I was on pins and needles for four days.

The crew of this flight, specially the flight attendant in the front were the sweetest I’ve had in all my life, I genuinely hope they get a race or sum cuz of their efforts. It was just quite unsettling that the flight took so long to departure. It was supposed to leave at 10:35pm and we ended up taking off at 11:22pm…👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

It’s bare bones but was on time so can’t complain.

Of all the countries I've flown to and airlines from around the world, I have never had such a dismissive an arrogant employee during boarding. After waiting in line for 20 minutes to board, I was sent to a second line for Passport verification. Natalie from Flair, repeatedly tried to scan my passport which didn't work for some reason but was too lazy to input my information manually. Bar code scanners aren't 100% reliable as we all know. She asked me my birthdate 3 times, made me wait to be the last person aboard and then smugly threatened me that my only bag could be charged for (same backpack I used as on my arrival as carry on). Natalie working in Ft. Lauderdale and the was the epitome of lobotomized tiktok brain with the charm of junk mail.
