Flights from Canada: the best tips from KAYAK users' own experiences

Insights shared by verified travellers who flew from Canada to anywhere
WilhelminaFlew with WestJet-Jun 2026
Ensure that you have extremely detailed information about yourself on your luggage in multiple spaces. The only thing that saved my case with having a lost bag during my travels with WestJet was my detailed information on the luggage tags. Also include something with your name or a extra luggage tag inside of the actual luggage. I also put my address of the Airbnb I was staying at as well as a email and multiple phone numbers on my luggage tag in case things got lost - all of which helped ensure that everything was found in returned to me.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Aug 2026
I really enjoyed the Air Canada flight. Boarding was smooth, comfortable and spacious. Plane was on schedule. Tips I recommended bringing a water bottle and ear phones so you can watch a movie. Also activate your AC Aéroplan before checking in online for free wifi.
TrevorFlew with Air Canada-Jul 2026
If you're hoping to get on an earlier flight, easiest if you don't have checked baggage - get to the gate before the boarding of any earlier flights and kindly ask the attendants if you can board the should there be availability.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Jun 2026
Air Canada sometimes offers free check luggage for carry-ons. This makes boarding much easier.
Verified travelerFlew with WestJet-Jun 2026
I think it is important to compare the baggage fees and the rules between paying online and at the airport. It is important to ask if there are different fees for luggage fees weighing less than 50 lbs other than 50 lbs.
JoshFlew with WestJet-Jun 2026
Know that you need to go to the Canadian side of the airport for flights, even if your connection is to a US airport.
JoshFlew with WestJet-Jun 2026
Know to go to the US side of the airport, it can take a while and TSA can take forever.
DarrenFlew with Porter Airlines-Jul 2026
Depending on airline, some boarding pass counters do not open earlier than 2 hours before flight
Verified travelerFlew with WestJet-Jun 2026
Montreal AirPort is a bit primitive. Allow for traffic jams and broken walkways.
MaryFlew with WestJet-Jun 2026
Bring food if you don’t want to buy on the plane
SallyFlew with Air Canada-Jul 2026
Make sure you have your second boarding pass before approaching customs.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Jul 2026
You should arrive at the airport more than three hours before your departure because no one gave me the correct information. You’ll need to find your gate and everything else on your own.
Verified travelerFlew with Aer Lingus-Jun 2026
Avoid Toronto airport if possible. One had to leave the airport to go to the next terminal. No directions.
CarlieFlew with Air North-Mar 2026
Arrive at the airport early enough. Definitely use the online check in option so all you have to do is drop of your luggage.
DinaFlew with Hong Kong Airlines-Apr 2026
Take a short layover if possible and snacks with you because the food is so different.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Apr 2026

Follow baggage policy and bring your own snacks.
anthonyFlew with Air Canada-Mar 2026
Avoid the bulk head if you are tall.
JohnFlew with Air Canada-Apr 2026
Air Canada could learn from Southeast Asia Airlines. Most flights in SE Asia boards handicap and business ÷ priority class first then the next group are at the back of the plane moving forward from there. We seem to board group from the front going to the back of the plane causing congestion and longer loading times.
WendyFlew with WestJet-Mar 2026
Double , triple and quadruple check that you are properly checked in for all legs of your flight even if your bags are checked through you might not be. And WestJet took zero ownership of the problem.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Mar 2026
Check in as soon as you have the link: Air Canada is pretty blasé about overselling and might decide you are on standby if you don’t check in 24 hours ahead of time
PhirunFlew with EVA Air-Dec 2025
Check in online from home to avoid long line up at airport.

JenFlew with Porter Airlines-Jan 2026
Get there SUPER EARLY, lines are long, only a few people working. Be prepared to massively overpay for luggage.
CraigFlew with WestJet-Nov 2025
Be at the airport in plenty of time incase you run into any issues with baggage or check in
TommyFlew with United Airlines-Nov 2025
Get to the gate early as they tend to board very quickly if you need over head bin space
Verified travelerFlew with WestJet-Nov 2025
Long long trip bring more water and snacks
Jadi-AnnFlew with Air Canada-Jun 2025
Air Canada, West Jet and maybe Caribbean Airlines is good. I have always flown with Air Canada. I wish I knew about the weight limit for a third bag so I didn’t pay for the extra weight for nothing. Going through the airport was so much simpler as it was mostly automated and as long as you follow airport protocols, the first part is easy. Going to Jamaica, doing that immigration form online was new to me so I had to stay back a little once I was close to customs.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Jun 2025
Vancouver - allow for enough time to get through the process. Numerous restaurants at Vancouver airport, very good waiting areas and space. Reasonably efficient international customs processing.
SuzanneFlew with Air Canada-Jun 2025
Remove stressors and get to YVR early. Get some steps in at the airport before taking a long haul flight. Expect full flights and busy boarding.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Jun 2025
Kamloops airport is easy to navigate. Security procedures are typical but one can get through fairly quickly.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Transat-Jun 2025
Book with another company or with time in advance to fins cheaper price and bring their own food, headphones, drinks or has dinner before flights at least can sleep 5 hours without big disturbances
JudyFlew with Air Canada-Jun 2025
Seat room is very limited with econo. No need to pack snack…food provided.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Jun 2025
If you have bathroom issues, select seats at the rear of the plane
Verified travelerFlew with Air North-Jun 2025
Be aware of how slow the domestic security can be and plan accordingly
KaseyFlew with Air Canada-Jun 2025
Come way early as US customs line up eats up your time
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Jun 2025
Plan to arrive at the Airport 2 hours before take off time
Verified travelerFlew with WestJet-Jun 2025
Eat good food before going onboard as food onboard the plane is not good.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Apr 2025
Keep an eye on your boarding gate and download the app. Boarding gates will change at the spur of the moment and the app makes things a lot easier and there is nice information on it.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-May 2025
Book your tickets Directly on EU carriers. You will have more legal rights and mandatory compensation depending on delays or cancellations.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Mar 2025
Check if the plane you are flying out on has had the inbound prior flight delayed. Because: My flight AC157 shoed as “On Time” departure on the Air Canada and FlightAware web sites…. Yet FlightAware showed my incomming-prior plane as almost 4-hours late. I called air canada and they couldn’t do anything other than admit that seemed strange. Three hours later I got a message that my flight was in fact delayed because of the prior late departure . I had gone to thye airport early because I knew there would be a problem and got one of the pnly 4 remaining seats on the earlier flight
HubertFlew with Air Canada-May 2025
The current plane is rather small. If you can get a seat reserved early, do so. You may be put on standby for a seat just until departure and if you travel with someone that can also mean that you won’t be sitting together and would have to ask someone to change with you.
AndrewFlew with Air Canada-Mar 2025
Make sure you know where you're going - if this is your first time, slow down and take a moment, it can be overwhelming. Also ubers anywhere are massively more expensive!
SanketFlew with Flair Airlines-May 2025
Arrive 1:30 hours early if you don’t have a boarding pass. They won’t issue it if you arrive within 60 minutes of departure.
Verified travelerFlew with Porter Airlines-Mar 2025
Make sure you download the app and bring an iPad. You may want to bring a hook for your iPad as well.
LAFlew with Air Canada-May 2025

Verified travelerFlew with United Airlines-May 2025
Be attentive to the location of shuttle for going to the other terminal
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Mar 2025

Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Apr 2025
Check weather and bring snacks or buy at airport just in case
JesseFlew with Air Canada-May 2025
keep more time incase connecting flight, usually flights late
Su HyunFlew with Air Canada-Mar 2025
Toronto airport terminal 1 is quite boring without many places to shop. If possible get there as late as you possibly can unless you plan to just watch your phone for 1.5 - 2 hours. Also mind that even if you were assigned a specific seat at the time of check-in, it is not guaranteed that you will sit there if there happens to be an obese passenger nearby you because you will likely have to give up your aisle seat for them.
WadeFlew with Air Canada-May 2025
Wait until your Zone number is called before getting in line! When you don’t wait, it causes unnecessarily long lines, slows the process and makes YOU look arrogant and stupid!!
JasonFlew with Porter Airlines-Dec 2024
If you are taking a carry-on, Porter offers a great service where before you board the plane they have Porter Gate service where they will take your carry-on and when you arrive at your destination your carry-on will be waiting for you outside the plane. So you do not have to worry about the overhead and not having space.
Verified travelerFlew with WestJet-Feb 2025
It's easy peesy. I certainly didn't need to get to the airport as early as I did (flight was 7am, they recommend 3 hours early) I was there 2.5 hours early and it wasn't neccessary, no one was in line anywhere i breezed through and then found a quite place to sleep.
Verified travelerFlew with Air India-Dec 2024
Please don’t check your bags. If you do, please put air tags in them to know where they are. The air tags saved me when my bags didn’t show up in Delhi. I was able to track where they were all the time.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Jan 2025
Taking the Skytrain into/out of YVR is useful. Coming in from the train there is a Security entry just to the right that is usually a shorter line and thus faster.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Dec 2024
Get on a regional sized (smaller than Boeing 737 or Airbus A320) jet if you can, they are older and have more legroom than newer aircraft.
SallyFlew with Air Canada-Feb 2025
Check your bag, boarding and retrieving luggage was easier when I volunteered to check my carryon on this full flight!
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Feb 2025
Loved the early flight. Less traffic to get to the airport and no lineups to check in.
MarciaFlew with Air Canada-Dec 2024
Have you be at the airport early in order to avoid the rush and chaos.
AmandaFlew with Air Canada-Jan 2025
Leave plenty of time to check in and hand in your on cabin luggage.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Dec 2024
Get to the airport early to realize a super relaxed experiences
JasonFlew with Porter Airlines-Feb 2025
If leaving from Halifax, I always give at least 30-45 mins extra as I find security there extremely bad. In addition depending on the time of year there are less companies who fly in the off (winter) season. That leaves Air Canada and Porter. Their fares are comparable usually.
Verified travelerFlew with Icelandair-Jan 2025
Have some food with you on board. Buy your ticket directly through Icelandair, otherwise you end up to pay for your luggage in airport, $175 Canadian. even if you booked your ticket through 3rd party included checked baggage.
ShawnaFlew with Air Canada-Dec 2024
Was my first trip to Toronto, I would choose an aisle seat or window seat, not middle. Middle seat is best for a very small person.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Feb 2025
Take as little carryon as possible. Expect small seats and overhead bins are not nearly as big as longhair flights. Restrooms are tiny as well.
JamieFlew with WestJet-Jan 2025
Pay for your bags before going to airport. Make sure to fill in online immigration form for DR before boarding flight.
JonathanFlew with WestJet-Dec 2024
Make sure your carry on will fit in the luggage compartment. Only 21 inches not standard 22
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Jan 2025
Check width of seat. Don't sit in a really narrow economy seat.
Verified travelerFlew with WestJet-Dec 2024
Reach before time. Review the instructions in advance and follow the rules.
LisaFlew with United Airlines-Dec 2024
Turn on your data or the wifi in case gates change.
DaphneFlew with Alaska Airlines-Feb 2025
Often can get your carryon checked for free at the gate.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Feb 2025
Bring entertainment, and prepare food before coming to the airport.
AmandaFlew with Air Canada-Jan 2025
Leave plenty of time for transfers as delays can occur
kevinFlew with WestJet-Jan 2025
If not flying premium pack food or buy before the plane. Food is over priced for what you get on th plane.
AnastasiaFlew with Air Canada-Dec 2024
Bring food with you, the food is minimal and of poor quality.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Oct 2024
Checking luggage can be done online 24 hours before flight departure and you receive your boarding tickets. Both save you time Bring snacks in the plane. Anything you buy in the duty free zone you can bring with you when you board the plane, even restaurants left-overs
TrygveFlew with Cathay Pacific-Sep 2024
For me it’s all about sleep. Try to sleep as much as possible. Bring a good book and don’t eat too much as it is a very long flight
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Sep 2024
It is definitely worth it to pay to pick your seat. Having an aisle seat allows you to stretch a little.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Oct 2024
Get the United app on your phone. It provides a lot of relevant information about your flight.
FrankFlew with Air Canada-Nov 2024
United, at sfo they have two doors for 2 zones entrance and exit, very organized.
Verified travelerFlew with WestJet-Sep 2024
Pre book a seat that has extra leg room.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Oct 2024
I wish we had know about the security check and customs. It was a long distance between gates. It all worked out fine though. I forgot to add that the overhead compartments were built poorly. At least for someone my height and head size.
BrianFlew with Air Canada-Oct 2024
Be prepared for a labyrinthine experience traversing the various levels and passages of the Toronto airport. Bring quality walking shoes, as it is likely well over a km in total walking time.
JoanFlew with Porter Airlines-Nov 2024
Maybe get the choice above the cheapest option because you don't get a checked bag or carry on so in the end you end up paying about the same, if not more.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Nov 2024
Don't forget about customs at the Toronto airport--it will take 45+ minutes with the lines unless you have a special status program!
ReganFlew with Porter Airlines-Nov 2024
Make sure if our are a larger person to order seats that will accommodate your needs in comfort.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Oct 2024
If you want to watch a movie; make sure to checkout what the plane has built in already.

Have your own entertainment. WiFi is available for a price.
KeturahFlew with Air Canada-Nov 2024
Bring very small luggage- it’s a small plane.
LouiseFlew with Air Canada-Sep 2024
Quite crammed. Try to get an aisle seat.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Nov 2024
Plane was packed so as Seniors we took advantage of early assisted boarding. Not sure how others that were young and healthy got on earlier than us in Zone 5. Toronto security was disorganized -no bins and told to wait after 15 minutes and li e backup we got bins from the security line beside us. They lost one of my husbands shoes, and did not make an effort to find it or help us….another 15 minutes. Thankfully we were early.
Verified travelerFlew with WestJet-Sep 2024
Pay for checked items and assume nothing but a small personal item can go with you. You will end up paying more for unchecked luggage that needs to be checked at last minute. I paid $150 just for luggage!! Horrible.
LeeAnnFlew with Air Canada-Sep 2024
I wish I had known that the air canada flight I was taking was so small inside that you can barely fit your carryon bag down the aisle. Also that there are some planes who's seats don't recline.
KarenFlew with WestJet-Sep 2024
Calgary airport is nuts… so busy, give yourself a little time. Disappointed that I couldn’t use the lounge voucher because Elevation closed for renovations and Aspire had a waiting list.
RonaldFlew with Air Canada-Sep 2024
Bring your own entertainment device. The system installed in the Airbus A321-200 we were flying is old, slow and ergonomically poor.
ColleenFlew with WestJet-Oct 2024
Don't pack a bag unless you want to pay more than the contents are worth to get it there and back.
Verified travelerFlew with WestJet-Sep 2024
Don’t book the last flight of the day as likely cancelled
JonathanFlew with Air New Zealand-Nov 2024
Food is poor to average. Bring your own
CandaceFlew with WestJet-Jul 2024
I would recommend Westjet. I suggest checking in at the agent counter. My husband & I don't mind sitting apart on a short flight rather than paying to sit together, but the agent was able to get us seats together. I did think the prices for selected seats was reasonable. Baggage fees were confusing & a bit pricy, but carry-ons were free & plane had large overhead bins.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Aug 2024
Board early so you can actually secure a spot for your carry-on items near your seat. There's an $11 express bus from the airport to a major subway station downtown (and includes free transit service in the city for 24h), but the bus only takes exact change, so make sure you buy a ticket from the kiosk in the airport first.
JeffFlew with Cathay Pacific-Jun 2024
YVR has nice, clean facilities. Take your time in the International departure area as there are shops, restaurants and lounge facilities for a fee or if you are member of a rewards program
TraceyFlew with WestJet-Jul 2024
If you are travelling with an elderly person signing up for wheelchair does help them get from gate to gate with assistance so you don't worry about them missing connecting flights
GerhardFlew with British Airways-Jun 2024
the lounge is nice. Although the crew at check in will say there are no showers, there are! Check the board for delays
MitchelFlew with Air Canada-Jun 2024
It’s a long flight make sure you use the restroom before hand and have plenty of snacks and your devices charged
NickFlew with Flair Airlines-Aug 2024
It is harder and harder to find low cost carriers in the Canadian market. Air Canada and West Jet offer the highest quality, but the lowest overall value due to prove gouging. If you can sacrifice some of the benefits of in-flight meals and easy check-in availability, then airlines such as Flair can be a worthy option. Let's hope we see increased competition in Canada to moderate prices to better serve air travellers.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Jun 2024
If you are seated in the rearmost seats of the aircraft, overhead baggage compartments may already be occupied with first-aid kits, "emergency snacks for tarmac waits," etc. Contact flight attendants immediately to see if they can help you find alternative places, especially if the flight is full.
Verified travelerFlew with LOT-Jul 2024
Be at the airport early as they will take you to a far away terminal to the gate where there are no shops except one
PeterFlew with United Airlines-Jul 2024
If you have a rolling carry-on, you'll be lucky to get it into an overhead on this EMBRAER 175. Many are gate-checked.

The gate is really far. So give yourself more time to get there. I was in the lounge and had to run for it!

Toronto airport doesn’t list a gate 65 but it does exist (check in at gate 67). Fine flight. Just not comfortable at all.

US bound terminal has very few good options and one lounge that’s always over capacity. Make sure to eat well before getting there.

Tip for long haul flights: don’t book through third party vendors as it makes it infinitely more difficult to alter anything in your booking, including getting an upgrade; or filing a complaint of poor cleanliness.

Don't take the 6am flight. Airport security and customs only open at 430am. So if you show up the recommended 3 hours before, you're waiting in line for nothing

Treat this like you’re flying on a greyhound bus. Bring food. Bring a pillow. Bring entertainment. Know that you will be uncomfortable and the airline won’t care.

Verified travelerFlew with Lufthansa-May 2024
Baggage policies encourage too much carry-on, making boarding stressful. Anticipate in advance, pack appropriately. Label your carry-ons well so if you decide to check them, they're ready to go. Sometimes the airline will announce that there are too many carry-ons and will offer to check bags from volunteers for free clear through to your destination.

A very comfortable flight, an additional wash room could have made it almost perfect.

Boarding pass counter did not open until 2 hrs before flight. We were there 3 hrs before as we like to be early ( eat, relax etc). Due to this the line up was large , thus never got through security till 15 min before boarding. Other than that, everything was great

The agent at check in was very cordial and gave me seat 4a with nobody beside me as I asked if possible

Seats not as comfortable but understand as it was a smaller plane/ short flight. All in all, I’ve never had any issues with Porter. Great company to fly with

Look, I understand that Kayak doesn't know I cancelled my flight on Porter. So I didn't actually fly yesterday. My main disappointment is with Porter ticket fare policies, and maybe you can pass this on to them: At my employer's request, I had booked a full fare ticket with no change fees since my trip to Toronto would likely be extended. Indeed, when I went to change my flight home to a later date, I was told the Fare Difference would cost an additional $550. So much for no change fees lol! While I had the agent on the line, I hopped over to Kayak, searched for new flights on the date in question, and saw a one-way ticket that got me home for only $355. So I got reimbursed about $450for the unused half of my roundtrip and bought a new ticket for $355. What good is a full fare / no change fee ticket if they screw you with "fare difference" BS. I'm still flying home on Porter Airlines but they just lost a hundred bucks with their stupid shenanigans.

I flew with Porter yesterday and overall had a positive experience. The flight was delayed, but the airline did a good job keeping passengers informed with frequent updates throughout the process. My biggest challenge was actually in Terminal 3, where the speaker system wasn’t very clear. It was often difficult to hear the announcements, which made it harder to follow updates at the gate. On board, the experience improved significantly. The aircraft felt very new and well maintained, and the seats were surprisingly comfortable for a short-haul flight. One of the flight attendants seemed a little disengaged, but the other was excellent—friendly, professional, and a pleasure to interact with. Despite the delay, the comfortable aircraft, clear communication from Porter, and positive onboard service made for a good overall experience.

We were very offended Reserva check in agent in Calgary. Erroneously profiled and reprimanded for using Reserve line . Hadn't even looked at tickets. We were in fact Reserve passengers

The staff was amazing. Best service I’ve had on an aircraft in a long time. Was not particularly happy with the food. Flight was at 10:50 and left home too early for breakfast and wasn’t able to purchase food at airport and felt for sure I could get some breakfast to buy on airplane. Nope as food was served around 11:30 and only one choice left (I was at 22C) so ordered the chicken dish thinking I’m getting a hot meal but cold chicken with rice and carrots etc. I was looking forward to a croissant sandwich and a hot cup of tea. The FA was kind to explain they were serving dinner at that time. She was lovely Other than the disappointment with the food the staff was amazing. On my return flight I will make sure to eat and take some food with me so I’m not hungry or disappointed. This was my second time ever flying Porter and will consider checking them when I next come to visit my daughter. Have to say it again best crew I’ve ever experienced on a flight and I travel quite a bit. Thanks.

I didn’t receive any help when they messed up and wasn’t honest and the supervisor did absolutely nothing to help me so I had to buy another ticket at $537

Even tho the flight was a bit delayed the team was apologetic. Everyone was friendly and efficient.

The flight was terrible based off the temperature in the plane and the air smelled so stale and gross. I have never wanted to hosed lore in my life after I got off. The food was disgusting and seemingly low quality. The staff was friendly. The bathrooms were so gross after a couple of hours. I will definitely never book with them again.

The crew was great. There was no entertainment and the internet wasn't working. We sat in the run way for a LONG time which is always so upsetting. The seats are very close together and the flights are completely full which makes for a tough flight. Flying is just an uncomfortable experience.

Very kind crew. Vegetarian food better than usual. Prompt take off. Entertainment worked well. Could always do with more room!

I liked the reliability. I liked less the chair comfort...

The dinner was bland and boring, but the economy seats were surprisingly comfortable. The flight was very packed.

I didn't have any problems during my flight. My main issue is with airlines in general, they keep offering less and less every year, AirTransat is no different.

We are a senior couple (70+) and chose emergency exit seats so we would have 2 seats together and neither of us had to sit in a middle seat. My husband is type 1 diabetic on an insulin pump and I monitor his blood sugar levels. I am 5'9" and 250 lbs and found the seats extremely uncomfortable. Toward the end of the flight I developed diarrhea which lasted a full 24 hours.

We were treated well by the staff at the airport and on board aircraft. Delay was uncontrollable due to the weather. Had to wait for another gate as we were late landing in Fort Lauderdale.

I was supose to have a carrey on incluided for each passenger and they made me paid 75$ each at the gate.

Great crew and entertaining Captain. Seats were not what we had expected based on my booking but things worked out in the end. Of course, like all airlines these days not enough leg or elbow room.

I'm so frustrated my flight was canceled they give flight on August 5 which is not sure. Its was big mistake I booked my ticket from kayak.

Maybe glass of wine would be nice at no charge

We traveled with a 7 year old that has autism and he is significantly cognitively delayed. Your site makes it known there are no wagons allowed even if they fold down flat and many autistic children cannot travel without one because they are unable to follow directions or cooperate with walking through the airport and are too big for a stroller. Please consider making exceptions for our special needs children. Also it would be very thoughtful if you’d allow seat selection for no fee for special needs families. The autistic child we traveled with must sit behind another adult in our family because he continuously kicks the seat in front of him and is unable to understand why that is disruptive. We had to pay quite a bit extra to have our 4 seats situated with 2 in row 19 and 2 in row 20 directly behind.

It would have been nice to know there was no on flight entertainment

Our itinerary included a 1 hour and 30 minute layover, which should have been sufficient under normal circumstances. However, our original flight was delayed. Before we even deplaned, we were instructed to collect our checked bags from baggage claim, clear immigration and customs, and then recheck our bags for the connecting flight. The airline knew—or should have known—that this was impossible. Checked baggage acceptance closes one hour before departure, meaning there was no realistic way for passengers from the delayed flight to recheck their bags in time. Despite this, the airline gave us misleading instructions instead of informing us that we would likely miss our connection. We completed immigration and customs in approximately 10 minutes, but our checked bags did not arrive at the carousel for more than 30 minutes. After collecting them, we had another 10-minute walk to the baggage drop area, only to find that no airline attendant was present. We then went to another airline counter, where an employee told us this had happened before and that there was nothing they could do because the baggage acceptance window had already closed. At that point, there were still 40 minutes remaining before our flight's departure, yet no one was willing to assist or offer a practical solution. When we asked to be rebooked, we were simply told to call the airline's 800 number ourselves. There was no accountability or customer support at the airport, leaving us stranded in a foreign country with no immediate assistance. After finally reaching an agent on the 800 number, we were rebooked on a flight for the following day. However, we were initially told that the airline would not provide any hotel accommodation and that we would have to arrange and pay for it ourselves. Only after making multiple calls and speaking with several different agents did one representative finally issue a hotel voucher. The entire experience was an exhausting and frustrating ordeal. What should have been a 20-hour journey ultimately became more than 30 hours due to the airline's poor planning, misleading instructions, lack of accountability, and inadequate customer service. The unnecessary delays, confusion, and absence of meaningful assistance caused significant physical exhaustion and severe mental stress. This experience fell far below the level of service passengers should reasonably expect.

Switching flights in Halifax was a nightmare. There was no agent waiting us when we disembarked to provide my mom with gate to gate assistance as we arranged. Our flight was delayed so our window to catch the other flight was very tight. The airport was poorly marked as to where to go. The plane was fairly crowded and space available was cramped.

Good flight. We were all boarded in good time for departure time but baggage loading had barely begun. So left late. No food just snacks and basic drinks for free (food also for purchase). No entertainment as again, unable to connect with wifi on WestJet despite being a rewards member.

Average flight, comfort was as expected for a 10 hour flight. The service was fine.

Everyone was extremely friendly and nice, from the front desk to the cabin crew!

I like the idea of a non-overnight flight to Europe.

My flight was delayed My connection was almost missed. My bag was lost My valuable items get damaged

It was great! Very comfortable plane, crew was great, would definitely take this flight again.

Flying with Air Canada is not pleasant at all. The plane is very old, meaning that there is no on board entertainment, the leg room is less, and it is dirty and in poor repair. To make matters worse, the crew was pleasant enough on my initial fight, but very rude on the return flight. Furthermore, the website advertises many amenities for international flights that are not honored when you were flying from the US to Canada even if your flight is five hours long. Even if you are willing to purchase food, they will likely not have over half of the advertised options available. In addition, you will pay twice the amount of a child’s order for an adult order of same item even though it is the same size as the children’s. It was just really bad on many levels I will try to avoid flying with Air Canada again at all costs

Awful, I was bumped from my buisness class seat because the airline decided to forfeit my seat to a pilot and stick me in the very back of the plane. My flight was delayed by an hour, boarding took an extra 30 minutes longer then it should have, and the in flight entertainment system was broken for my entire flight. I have yet to hear from Air Canada with regards to a refund for my ticket so in total I'm down about $1400 dollars for my tickets. Moving forward if I can avoid using Air Canada in the future I will be doing so even if it costs me extra money.

Flight was late missed our connection to Indianapolis no hotel rooms really difficult finding a room hope to be in Indianapolis one day late and multiple flights to even get there.

Kept me waiting for hours with the excuse of aircraft needed to cool down and then cancelled.

Everything was great except that I wasn’t issued a boarding pass for the second flight so they would not let me into customs until I had said boarding pass. Luckily a gate attendant from another Air Canada flight was able to print one for me so I could go through.

First time flier on Air Canada and absolutely loved it. Everything was so clean. Friendly staff. Easy boarding.

Flight attendants had an attitude with everyone, not sure they should be working with customer service if they cannot show a pleasant attitude. Underwhelming, to say the least. The food was awful, and nothing could be purchased from Toronto to Tokyo. Do better, Air Canada.

I suppose to board the plane AC5110 to San Francisco on July 16 2026 @07:00 am and arrive San Francisco at 09:25 am. At 9:30am still in YVR I was told the plane was delayed until 11:30 am to take off. Not until 11:35am the pilot of the plane declared that due to hydraulic system problem this plane was cancelled. After waited in a long pile up for negotiating with the counter-staff, I finally got the tickets for myself and my wife Yim Mei KONG firstly to Seattle and then transferred to San Francisco on the plane AS 2014 & AS 791 with Alaska Airlines. I suppose to attend the funeral of our friend in San Francisco on July 18 and a Memorial Gathering for the Birthday of the deceased on July 16, 2026. I arrived San Francisco at 9:40 pm that day (12 hours later) and couldn't joint the Memorial Gathering. This upset me a lot. I am seeking for compensation of this failing trip. Please let me know how to and where to forward my complaint.

The experience was awful. I didn’t expect to pay $100 for my luggage both ways. Then we start boarding late, they then make us go back out of the line and go back into the airport for maintenance. The delay was 45 mins and I also hated the fact that I paid so much and still had to pay for a seat when I checked in. I will not be rebooking with this airline

Their "free personal" requirement is to have your bag fit in a containment frame that is way too narrow and slender than the space under the actual plane seat (the length of my vitamin water was longer than the width of the containment frame. They had personel at the gate literally designated to hounding people's bags in the zone line up, and forcing them to measure their bag again if he felt "the bag might be too big for personal item". If your bag was too big for their scamming measurement criteria you had to fork up $110 CAD for the carry on cost ($85 at the 24hr online pre-check in). Plane had no entertainment, seats did not recline, and no complimentary snacks or drinks. Unless I have a short flight with zero bags, I won't be flying Flair ever again.

Flight attendant said bye bud. Lol peak flair right there

On time flight. Reasonably comfortable seats. Disliked having to pay for refreshment and snacks.

Very bead I am going to Vancouver to toronto. Not boarding receive. Before flight ✈️ time I have to take boarding. Boarding manager asking me pay $89 . Just flight ✈️ time before I pay .after provided the Boarding pass. Flair Airlines management not good. But kayak is best application.

Not good Even after I made my booking, I was charged $90 for my boarding pass. I have collected boarding pass i pay $90 near . Flair airline not good. Without pay no boarding pass.

The flight was smooth, but the seats are not comfortable. I was not able to sleep. The sizes for the personal item and carry-on are way smaller than other airlines.

Leg room was terrible and seats very narrow. Flight was also delayed.

Personally, I will not use this fight again. The service is poor, you have to buy even water. They don't provide anything even sneak, you have to buy. They said Personally items for 7 kg. Then they use some measurements, if you have 7kg and if it's not getting inside of their measurements, you have to pay 80$ this is robbery. I will prefer other flight then this. I am désappointement taking this airplane.

It’s a shameful company. It ask as to go to counter to take the boarding pass, they simply send it by email, just to check the bags’ size in a smaller than normal template. DONT USE FLAIR! It will be more expensive than normal airlines at the end.
