10.0 Excellent
Pros: A very nice overnight stay for a family. The rooms are new, clean, spacious. Comfortable beds. Friendly reception.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Reception staff really professional, gym easily accessible, easy parking, easy to find, good bed and coffee facilities, strong shower stream.
Cons: A fridge in the bedroom would really help, especially as we went in August.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: This is principally a business hotel so one needs to temper one's expectations accordingly. It is perfectly nice in every respect but don't expect charm. This hotel has the charm of a stainless steel dishwasher: perfectly functional but devoid of emotion.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beds were comfortable, immaculately clean, great location, helpful and friendly staff
Cons: Nothing all great :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Overall a very pleasant experience en route to Spain
Cons: No fridge in the room
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location was really good for our trip. The hotel receptionist on the evening of our arrival and the following morning were very friendly and helpful. We had an issue with some lost property that the evening receptionist tried her best to resolve. Unfortunately she couldn't locate the lost property but we really appreciated her efforts. Rooms were very clean and well presented.
Cons: Nothing at all.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice, clean
Cons: Everything was good
7.5 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: The Aircon was not switched on
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was excellent. The bed was large and comfortable. There was a good range of facilities in the room and the restaurant next door, La Boucherie served very good meat - don't go if you are a vegan.
Cons: On the first morning we arrived five minutes too late for 'full breakfast' because of confusion in explaining the time that full breakfast' finished. We were offered 'breakfast' which was very good but not 'full breakfast'. The jet in the shower didn't work. The lights inside the hall of the room flickered on and off for about 45 minutes. The coffee machine was missing an integral part so didn't work. These things were explained to the staff, but either because of our poor French, their poor English, or some other reason, they were unable to correct. They did offer us a change of room but after 6 hours on the road and unpacking we were very disinclined to do.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Ultra modern hotel that lacks any character. Good business or single night accommodation in very clean rooms. Has a good chain restaurant attached for lunch and/or dinner. Very close to the sports stadium but quite a way out of the town centre. Staff were excellent from check-in to check-out. Semi-secure parking area with Tesla charge points.

Cons: There were no problems at all.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Pretty good location within an easy 10 minute stroll of the city centre, chateau, Ave des Pyrenees etc, and restaurants. 9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very modern and clean and pretty good location with easy garaging for cars. Big rooms.
Cons: Nothing really.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Hotel was in a good location with both the town centre and the Beaumont Palace Conference Centre within easy walking distance. Staff were friendly and helpful and spoke good English. Hotel was clean and tidy and the room was well equipped.
Cons: Bed was rather too firm for my liking. Breakfast was continental and not worth the 14 euros price tag in my opinion. Tea and coffee facilities in the room were rather limited, but just about sufficed.

Pros: Friendly check-in lady. Room clean. Evening access clearly explained
Cons: Cracked tiles in lift, poor lighting in shower room. Glacial wi-fi.
7.3 Good
Pros: Great location, right off of the interstate, and even though reception closed at 9pm, they helped us re-open our room after-hours when we locked our key code in our room. The receptionist spoke English very well. Cute, clean rooms.
Cons: Other reviewers have said the same thing, and I'll say it as well - the rooms are small! The extra bed under the double bed is a bit hard to get out, and there's not much room to walk around when it is out. Still, the rooms worked out fine for one night for our family.
6.7 Good
Pros: The room was very fairly large and the bathroom good. The staff also spoke some English.
Cons: We arrived early but didn't have a reference number required to automatically sign in.
4.0 Okay
Cons: Very small room.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Good price, comfortable and no hassles. Good location by autoroute for drivers.
Cons: Situation at edge of town with no local restaurants.
6.3 Good
Pros: I have now stayed in 3 Altica Hotels, this one at Pau is by far the best.
Cons: Rather a long way out of the town, with little facilyies near to hand, but Pau centre is only 5 minutes drive away, however, parking in Pau centre is very difficult.
7.2 Good
Pros: Fantastic value hotel. Only a few Euro more than the economy hotels but far better equpiped. Staff were delightful and quietly efficient. Our children made very welcome and adjoning rooms with secure shared lobby offered at no extra cost. Rooms well equipped - not large but nicely designed and spotless. All public areas also pleasant and very clean. Breakfast good value. Secure parking a bonus. We highly recommend the Altica chain of hotels.
Cons: Lighting in bathroom a bit dim - I was struggling to find a negative!

6.4 Good
Pros: Hotel was very clean and just refurbished, basic but comfortable facilities and I would be pleased to book this hotel again.
Cons: A very minor point is with the majority of French hotels they do not provide basic English T V which I assume with digital broadcasting they now could as the language is selectable.

Pros: Location to town centre was excellent only a few minutes walk. The ambience is awesome with a sumptuous room and view of the garden and Pyrenees on the horizon, staff extremely friendly.
6.7 Good
Pros: Bed was ok. Breakfast only fair. Had it Christmas Day and we were given a 10 minute warning to clear out. Offered only one coffee, pancake was cold. Unacceptable for €19 euros per person. So went into town for breakfast on other days
Cons: Everything really. Decor was shoddy the whole hotel needs some care and attention. I had to ask twice for towels to be brought to the pool. Had to ask twice for conditioner for the room. Outside the hotel looks good but inside is disappointing.we had just left chateaux du la mothe which was a wonderful experience.

Pros: Lovely main house with gracious public spaces and large outdoor pool. Very helpful staff.
Cons: Rooms in annexe good but a little soulless if you’re looking for extra charm. Nice enough though. A little out of the centre but flat to walk if you fancy a jaunt.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The receptionist was very welcoming and Rearranged a room for us which was spacious with views of the garden and mountains. It was nice to have both a bath and shower with the room. Our evening meal both looked and tasted delicious.
Cons: Unfortunately the only waiter available could not translate the menu for us as his English was more limited than our French. There were only two other guests for dinner, so the evening lacked ambience
7.1 Good
Pros: The standard rooms are comfortable, good big beds.
Cons: The cost of the bar drinks, not much atmosphere. Breakfast too expensive for what you get
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfectly located to see around Pau but in a quiet, peaceful spot; Easy and plentiful parking. Lovely grounds with a big pool, a very striking and fine building with a nice indoor spa. 30+ rooms so serious infrastructure. Excellent restaurant and bar, great food, very fine and pleasant service everywhere. we'd go back any time.
Cons: All excellent, no negatives.
6.9 Good
Pros: Location & safe parking.
Cons: I stayed here 11yrs ago, enjoyable. On this recent stay I thought the hotel lacked any atmosphere and with the exception of the receptionist on arrival the staff seem bored and uninterested to providing a warm or welcoming service. We ate in the restaurant, the food was average, not inexpensive, and the service was not as I would expect in such a hotel. I would not eat here again.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very pleasant and helpful, and their help was hugely appreciated after we were heavily delayed on our journey to Pau and lost our previous booking at another hotel due to being so late. We were very comfortable on our overnight stay and after a hearty breakfast we felt much refreshed after a difficult day's drive the day before. Thank you so much - we would highly recommend this lovely little hotel.
Cons: Nothing - it was perfect for us.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great Staff
Cons: Over £30 for a continental breakfast for four!! We had two coffees two juices and a few croissants. Nice and fresh but hugely over priced!!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. We came into town during one of the hottest days / nights of the year and the kind staff allowed us to keep food in the fridge, and recharge our cold packs in the freezer overnight.
Cons: Small bathrooms
7.5 Good
Pros: Convenient for the autoroute.
Cons: Slightly tired. Contrary to some reviews, there's not much choice of places to eat nearby, except the usual chain eateries that you might expect in an edge-of-town commercial area. There is a tex-mex restaurant next to the hotel, but I won't be eating there again in a hurry.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean and comfortable wth air con (which was much needed in 35+ degrees) and a large bathroom. The restaurant next door served nice dinner.
Cons: We arrived for breakfast (not late) to be told there was only 1 croissant left, so only my partner or I could have 1.

Cons: I was charged for a breakfast for my wife when I thought this was included within the room rate. I possibyl failed to indicate there were two of us bit I booked a double room. The price charged for the breakfast I thought was expensive for what was on offer.

Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff were extremely accessible and friendly. The manager was hands on all day, always smiling and chatting to her guests. The room had all facilities, including a dishwasher/fridge and a fully equipped kitchen. The overall feel of the hotel was warm and comfortable. We were on a driving holiday and this was the perfect place to recharge and enjoy the sunshine. The swimming pool was cleaned daily and very well kept so a pleasant experience after a hot day. The location is a short drive into Pau which is just beautiful.
Cons: On arrival the location was off putting as it on an industrial estate. However, the location was more of a retail and restaurants area. So turned out to be a bonus!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The pool was great and the rooms were modern with good AC.
Cons: The location is convenient for a stopover but let’s be honest it’s in the middle of a commercial estate...this is forgotten once you’re inside. But if you want to visit the town or go for dinner you’ll probably need to drive.

Hotel Adour - Pau - Building

Overview Reviews
Hotel Adour is in the heart of Pau, within a 10-minute walk of Musee des Beaux-Arts and Château de Pau National Museum. Featured amenities include a computer station, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and luggage storage. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: The rooms. We were given the wrong room the second was very poor. Toilet in a cupboard with no handbasin and no ventilation. No air conditioning and opening the windows impossible due to the noise. The street was very noisy. The first was a music fiesta which we accepted and enjoyed. The next two nights sleep was impossible due to an over enthusiastic DJ at a bar opposite then lots of noise in the street from a nearby club and people in the street until 6am. We left early on a Sunday morning and the street had the remains of the revellers night which can't be described here and no not just litter. The list of my complaints is too long to list. There is nothing in my opinion to recommend this hotel.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Adour. The staff were so lovely and helpful. Our room was clean and spacious and the location was amazing, right in the centre of Pau. Also, the breakfast was delicious. We would definitely stay here again.
7.9 Good
Pros: A nicely positioned. The bath/shower looked good was a bit tricky for older people
7.1 Good
Pros: Staff are great. Helpful and friendly. Location is central. Good WiFi connection. Breakfast is a typical French breakfast (a very generous basket of croissant, bread, coffee, tea, hot chocolate ) along with a yogurts, jams & butters, cereals, juice, cheese & saucisse.
Cons: Old hotel - no elevator (which is why this is a French 2-star) creaky spiral staircases - if you have heavy baggage, a long lug up the stairs. Rooms are small - don’t expect to have much space for baggage. No air conditioners - beware if staying here during the hot periods. The hotel is located within the pedestrian only area. A long walk with heavy baggage may be necessary.

Pros: The staff was more than welcoming, extremely helpful and always smiling. The room was quite sizeable and the hotel is situated in a great location.
Cons: Given its proximity to the city centre it is a little noisy. Also as it is quite an old building there are some tear&wear marks specially in the bathroom but nothing extraordinary.

Pros: All very good .
5.8 Okay
Pros: Spent the night in our travels- easy to access.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful receptionist. Good value for money.
Cons: Walls a little thin.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Garden Centre next door was a lovely view from our window and we visited the centre and they had all sorts of animals and plants and gift items. The Chinese Buffet Restaurant a few steps away was very good & great value too. It was just what we felt like.
Cons: The shower opened directly onto the room which was a bit strange for us as we had a young friend travelling with us so there was not much privacy - it would not be an issue for a family,
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast, clean rooms,
Cons: Location to centre of Pau
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beds very comfy, towels poor
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Not a lot really
Cons: It was very expensive for a tiny room that you could barely get around. My small suitcase just fitted between the bed and the shower room. There was no air conditioning so the room was hot and if you opened the window it was noisy. The view was the side of a warehouse. There were no facilities at the hotel and if I had paid €30 it would have been ok. The breakfast was an additional €6.60 per person which really could not be justified.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location was good
Cons: Very small room

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Le Matisse in Pau (Centre Ville), you'll be within a 15-minute walk of Château de Pau National Museum and Musee des Beaux-Arts. The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff. Pau is a very nice town, very lively and largely definitely not a tourist trap.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Air con unit in bedroom Good powerful shower Very comfortable bed
7.5 Good
Pros: Central Location - close to underground car park and amenities. Good decor - rooms and public areas in good repair. Restaurant menu was limited, but excellent quality and well priced.
Cons: Pau closes for business at approx 10pm each evening. There’s no opportunity to charge meals to your hotel bill. Bar closes at 10pm prompt.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Was the cheapest in town, but what a surprise.... amp
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice staff, great location, clean rooms, good coffee, supermarket around the corner, trainstation nearby.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Super helpful staff and convenient room and location. Near the center and the Museum of arts. Easy parking near the hotel.
Cons: That particular night there were noises in the surroundings of the hotel (people with loud voices, motorcycles,..). The elevator and the access to the rooms is not very comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Clean. Friendly staff. Affordable price
5.4 Okay
Pros: Wood effect floors.
Cons: Charged credit card before arrival so no way to back out when offered the room booked. Paid extra to not sit sideways on the toilet and to be able fit into the shower (my shower at home is bigger than the whole bathroom) Chose the hotel for the lack of carpets but turned out to be a bunch of rooms above a bar. After paying extra for a room with a bathroom you could close the door and for public parking when street parking was amply available realised the real hotels in town were cheaper. Definitely not recommendable. It is pre-pay for a reason. Avoid.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Food not on hot plate, unknown dish ??eggs Bread, pastries, cheese etc OK.
Cons: Staff of one to look after guests, bar and serve meals. Room not ready on arrival. Lift not working and stairs steep.
5.4 Okay
Cons: there were two things I didnt like: the first thing is that the receptionist told me that my room types are fully booked so asking me to see if I can give €10 more to change to another type of room. At first I thought €10 more is no big deal but afterwards I reckon that this is rather unfair and when I pointed that out the receptionist said it is OK we can give you for free. The second thing is that the room allocated to me was a bit smelly and that there is one little window in the toilet without any curtain so indeed when you are brushing your teeth people from outside can see you (and that area outside can be accessible by other hotel people although it doesn’t look like that there will be many people going there)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good to have a restaurant/cafe/bar at the hotel.

Pros: Great stay. Very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful rooms. Hotel located perfectly for a visit to Pau.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in a beautiful spot, right on the park but close to the city center and not far from the train. I like that there is Nespresso coffee and tea in the room, which is clean, modern and well-designed for comfort and convenience. The staff is eager to help. Restaurant has very good food. It’s excellent in every category.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Confortable bed, nice view. Espresso machine with free coffee, tea... Food on the restaurant was Fantastic.
Cons: TV system maybe need an update in terms of Hi-tech. Videos and Series availability, confort dimmable lights etc... it is still an excellent room.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel looks good and is in a quiet and safe area, within walking distance to the centre. Staff speak English very well and are polite and efficient. The room and bathroom were of a decent size, clean and tidy. The bed was also large and room quiet. Parking facilities provided and we had no trouble finding a space even very late on a Friday night. The pool is quite large, with a sauna, steam room and hot tub - all excellent. Other guests are considerate, for example kids playing in the pool were respectful of others, waiting until they were alone in the pool before jumping into it.
Cons: Only minor point was an alarm going off early in the morning, although a staff member apologized on check out after asking if we were woken.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: We booked a suite and a standard room for a relative. The suite was superb. Large room with huge bed and large bathroom. All of the hotel looked like it had been refurbished to a really high standard. The second room was really well finished off. Location was great just round the corner from the old town - couple of minutes walk. Staff were all really pleasant and helpful.
Cons: Unfortunately they couldn’t get the air conditioning fully working in the suite.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It is the perfect place to stay for Pau, walking distance from Everywhere and quite at night. They recommended us a river cafe that ended being one of the highlights. The staff were helpful and had all the required knowledge. All in all a 9
Cons: The reception does not have much character. They use a lot of plastic in the bathrooms with the glasses. Small things really
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful staff. Good location. Nice old fashioned hotel.
Cons: Parking distant.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a lovely corner room which was very spacious and peaceful. The location was perfect for the town.
Cons: The room was a bit shabby, especially the bathroom. Probably due to be renovated. But it didn't spoil the stay for us. We were very happy there
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. Our room had a view over the fountain which was lovely. Car parking outside the hotel. We could walk to all the cafes for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Cons: Nothing, it was just lovely.
7.5 Good
Pros: Good location in town centre, very helpful staff on reception and a plain, but large clean room. Lots of restaurants up the hill BEHIND the frontage
Cons: There is only room for 5 cars to park out front so unloading luggage means blocking a passing road. This is fine if you have only one or two bags. So, if you are not lucky enough to find a vacant spot you will need to drive up a hill inFRONT of the hotel (about 400m) and park in a large public place. However, this is not as bad as appears since it only cost 1 Euro for an overnight stay and it appears secure. Only 5 mins walk back down but still a nuisance.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good, usual buffet style. Room was small and cosy, nice old-fashioned décor, overlooking a tree-lined square. . Good bathroom. Central situation close to shops and restaurants.
Cons: The room was very small, with a door between bathroom and bedroom - unnecessary.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good size room and location perfect to get around by foot
Cons: Parking is minimal but plenty public parking close by
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good choice of restaurants near to the hotel, good central location, free parking outside the hotel. Would recommend & stay again.
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room, with an entrance hall and bathroom, large bed, and easy walk to town centre, which is lovely, with lots of restaurants, bars and nice shops. Some great viewing points over the Pyrénées, and an impressive cathedral.
Cons: Reception was rarely manned, although call button was usually responded to fairly quickly. Hotel facilities quite limited.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location, secure parking, friendly staff
7.5 Good
Pros: My room was pretty with a great bathroom but only had a fan.
Cons: There was a heat wave and my room had no airconditioner. I complained at front desk and was moved to a room with an AC. The first room was a lot nicer but I was willing to give it up for a good night’s sleep with the AC.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Well located close to town with secure parking and large bedrooms with new bathrooms and comfortable beds
Cons: Our room 471 was right at the back of the hotel past the fire escape and although a large room had no views and minimal light. Strange that we had been placed here as the hotel appeared empty but it was only for one night so we did not raise an issue.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast with very fresh products and viennoiseries.
Cons: The individual aircon was very noisy. Could not be used for long and never for the warm nights we spent. But we did not choose the highest rate room, so...
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic room, very spacious and a little olde worlde but in a pleasant way (main room was large and circular). Very well placed on the edge of the busy part of town.
Cons: Parking was very tight but nothing unusual and tricky to find. I had to find temporary parking before getting the code for the hotel car park.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room was amazing top floor with good views, round and full of original features even the doors were curved. Centrally located and free secure parking
Cons: One of the Male receptionists wasn't very helpful, he didn't get us a kettle instead of coffee machine, as the room directory said was available, he said that wasn't possible. The next morning the lady on reception said that wasn't a problem and a tray was I our room on our return. He also seemed to spend alot of time at the door having a cigarette not a good advert for the hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Located right near the old town and all the shops and restaurants Lovely breakfast and very clean and comfortable rooms
Cons: Nothing
7.9 Good
Pros: Location was close to city centre. Room was a good size Staff were very helpful and friendly at all times
Cons: The airconditioning unit in the room was useless and very noisy, so noisy you couldn’t sleep with it on. We had to ask for a fan instead. Breakfast was rather basic and overpriced. We only tried it once, then went to a cafe down the road subsequently.
6.3 Good
Pros: Good location. Nice breakfast.
Cons: An old fashion hotel. The AC was a machine standing at the floor and was very noisy.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Extremely large room with very comfortable bed. Also location was perfect. Parking in hotel garage was ideal
Cons: Nothing at all
