The facilities were nice and the resort itself is beautiful.
The food was disgusting and closed early. After 10:30, there was no food? Horrible! And I tried getting lunch at 12pm and EVERYTHING was closed. Why am I put on a time limit to eat?? Also, most of the cenotes they were advertising you can swim in were gross and to me, not swimmable. Those who did were very brave...
Everyone was very friendly and loads to do on the resort
Got lost looking for the resort it’s not very signposted
The resort has a fantastic wild, jungle style environmental feel. Spider monkeys, Coattis, iguanas, peacocks and even deer are wondering around the resort seemingly unaware of the tourists walking around the cute shady pathways that meandour through their habitat. The picture window from our ground floor room (1504) into the wild was gorgeous. Loved looking out at the animals. The food we had at the al acarte restaurants (la Riviera, Japanese and elite steakhouse) all fantastic. Staff are all dressed in a sort of crocodile Dundee / bush style outfit which makes you feel a bit like you’re on a film set! Spa area was lovely and free to use as adults. Paid for massage was great - a real treat! Beautiful beach with lots of shade. Rooms are gorgeous & well equipped. Staff all very friendly but not over the top Felt very safe walking around Lots of shade Beautiful Cenote on the grounds Great water slides and fun pool for young kids Very environmentally friendly resort Really good value for money Great dive centre on site Games area with pool & table tennis Fun street market on Sunday night
The layout is confusing for the first 24hours, a map would be helpful. Air con is only in your room- so restaurants & lobby are hot & sweaty. Pools are nice but we only used the quieter turtle pool because the main pool was rowdy. Bars all shut at 5pm so there’s nowhere to have a Pre dinner drink in the evening. Restaurants aren’t on the beach so you don’t get the view or the sea breeze over lunch or dinner. There is an odd booking system for the Japanese restaurant and some of the others have odd opening hours. Hated the buffets. Just like a school canteen. Massive, noisy, busy and tonnes of food but nothing that tickled your taste buds. Its fine for breakfast but we stuck to the smaller Italian restaurant who operated a buffet breakfast & lunch. It’s missing a beachfront food option during daylight hours. It takes ages to check in and check out. No poolside snacks or towels at the best pool - Tortuga pool. All the drinks use a gross sweet syrup so after the initial excitement of smoothies and cocktails we stuck to beer, water and wine. The shows are all on at 8pm which coincides with dinner then at 9 it was a bit halfhearted in the way of entertainment.
The activities are great, and kept my 6 year old very happy. The cycling, the kids club, monkey spotting, the two big Mayan shows and the street fair were highlights.
The staff lacked empathy. They get 3000 visitors through their doors and you feel it at check in or any other big check point. My son had an upset stomach for 3 days and they wouldn't change the money I needed to get to a drug store. They didn't give me a proper induction so I had to figure out everything myself. Whenever i queued in the lobby it felt like chaos. I was kept on hold on the phone for hours. Three managers didn't call me back when i asked for an escalation after a series of gaffs in the lobby. I'd recommend the hotel for the personal touches in kids club, at concierge and in restaurants and for the amazing nature, but expect a transactional relationship at the moments that count. There's a reason why they take your full balance the minute you arrive. The senior management tried to resolve the gap in service and offered to let my son see their doctor, and this was appreciated, but it took until my last night to get listened to, and by then the lack of care had left it's mark. It might be a small problem to you and we might be 1 in 3000 to you but every 1 of us 3000 should matter as individuals.
I'll the customer service it was the best i have ever gotten all the staff was extremely friendly and the are bi-lingual so that help since i don't speak Spanish.
to much animal running around the facilities.
