On Kayak I booked an intermediate, Honda Civic or similar. When I arrived at the Dollar counter I was told I booked a compact, Chevy Spark. They said they have no relationship with Kayak and whatever it said on Kayak about the kind of car I'd get was meaningless. The counter agent gave me a free upgrade to a Toyota Corolla anyway, after I declined paying for an upgrade to a bigger car.

Well priced car rental. But very confusing with all the different insurances. Thought I added it in when securing the car. But that was not recognised at Dollar car rental. So the insurance purchased at the counter cost me as much as the rental itself.

I liked that i could pick up from pdx. The issues were that the way to pick up from pdx was not clear and was very confusing. No clearly marked entry until you park in the parking structure and then ask someone where to go. Also we were not told why we were charged so much in the end and there was no receipt explaining the extra charges.

The pick up at Portland Airport was a nightmare. Almost 2 hour line, no organization and confusing. Eventually filled out an accelerated check in on the web site, received a confirmation that the reservation is checked in, got out of line and proceeded to the garage only to be told I didnt have a Bar Code. Very confusing as did not see any mention of a Bar Code. Otherwise, staff who helped me in the pick up and drop off areas went out of their way. Car was great. Miles

The line was short at the pickup location. The attendant upsold me on a more expensive vehicle I did not really want. The minimum collision damange insurance was about 3 times more than the usual rate ($30.00/ day instead of $9.00/day). As a result I ended up paying about 2-3 times what I would have normally paid at Budget or Dollar. The car, a Mercedes Benz 350 GLA SUV was nice.

Thought I booked one of the highest levels and got something smaller than what I was expecting so I was a little bummed. Volvo x40 was relatively new and nice, but for the price I paid I would have expected something a little larger like a bmw x5 or something. That’s the only disappointment. Other than that all service people were extraordinary

Our flight was delayed and we arrived after midnight. There was no way for us to get our vehicle that I had paid for in advance. So I paid for an extra day plus I had to pay for an Uber back and forth from the airport to the rental agency. Both Sixt and Kayak should post the hours of the agency so those of us traveling know not to rent from an agency that does not have a plan for rental car pickup after hours. Very inconvenient and very expensive.

Sixt office is small in DTP, but the mighty duo Shawn and Nate were amazing. Quite a force they are, a little wait with good concerned service is all OK. Cars were limited so I got an expensive upgrade to a BMW X5, unnamed credit card but the experience of driving to the coast and mighty Columbia was all worth it.

They accommodated us at the airport - somehow we were booked at another location - which was super!. However, although the car was clean enough, but hadn't been cleaned before we got it. It was also a much larger SUV, so was a bit difficult for my husband to drive in the city. But the fact that we didn't have to go elsewhere made all the difference and the guy at the desk was super nice!

I waited for 1.5 hours at the rental office. I was seen fairly quickly but the paperwork process took forever. When I finally got my vehicle, there was a low tire pressure warning. I mentioned this to the attendant at the rental office but she said they couldn't fix it. So I went to a nearby gas station to get more air. But as I was driving off the warning light came back on and I could hear a hissing coming out of the tire. There was clearly a tear in the tire. They offered me another vehicle but that then took more time to process that paperwork. The car was clean but overall a bad experience.

The car itself was nice, but our experience with Thrifty was extremely disappointing. We had a reservation in our name, yet we waited over an hour to receive our vehicle. There were no other customers waiting for cars at the time—they simply did not have our vehicle cleaned and ready when we arrived. During the wait, we were offered an upgraded vehicle for an additional $200. When we declined the extra charge, we were left waiting for over an hour for the car we had originally reserved. To make matters worse, we filled the tank at a gas station immediately before returning the vehicle. The fuel level was actually higher than when we picked it up, which Thrifty had considered a full tank. Despite this, we were charged for two additional gallons of fuel ($31.00) after returning the car. Between the excessive wait time, the attempt to upsell us while our reserved vehicle wasn't available, and the inaccurate fuel charge, this was a very frustrating experience. Even with the $50 future rental discount they offered as compensation, we will not be renting from Thrifty again.

They changed the vehicle to a much smaller version. It also has a poor backup camera. Then I was upcharged by over $1,000. I didn’t like it at all. Very dissatisfied.

The line to pick up the car was winding around and over 20 people deep when I arrived. They had one person working. Each person was taking around 10 minutes to assist- if you do the math, that’s over two hours to pick up the car. There was an option to pay $30 to skip the line but that resulted in an error message. I eventually cancelled the reservation and walked right up to a different counter

Awful! They only have 1 location in the whole state of Oregon. My plans changed and I needed to return the car early, but there were no locations so I had to drive 3 hours to return it. I will never rent with Payless again.

I was told to go in front of the Avis booth on the third floor and my parking space was “Rush”. There isn’t actually a space labeled Rush. They were apparently washing a vehicle to bring up. I waited approximately 30 minutes and no vehicle showed up. I went back down to the desk and there were no people to help me. They disappeared. An Avis lady helped me. Over the walkie talkie the Payless folks claimed they sent up the vehicle. Someone else confirmed there was no vehicle waiting anywhere. She booked me with another vehicle. When returning, a gentleman all but finished checking me in, but then passed me off to another who started the process all over again. I subsequently received two receipts by email. I will not use Payless again.
