It was a clean and comfortable resort. Very relaxing. The pool and spa were fantastic. The excursion guy was able to upgrade us to vip for Cirque du Soleil (it’s at another resort). The staff was overall friendly, even though service was pretty slow at the pool.
For a wellness resort, their gym was not impressive. The food was mediocre, the chicken usually too dry and the steak super thin. Multiple times I told them I don eat bread, rice or potatoes, and they still put it on my plate. Not all restaurants were open daily. There wasn’t any excitement on the resort like live music and dancing at night. The beach had a nasty smell of seaweed which lingered in the room. When I was checking out the concierge was trying to charge me for the room even though I already paid. I had to argue with him and eventually show him my bank statement.
Beautiful, quiet atmosphere
This is a beautiful, quiet resort that felt very luxurious and peaceful. It was only a short (20 minute) ride from the airport. The service staff were incredible, always helpful, smiling and seemed to be having a good time themselves. Tips weren't expected at all, but bring some, they deserve it! The complimentary "sunset" cruise was fun and a good way to get away for a while and see the area. The food choices were varied for just having a few restaurants, and each had a unique vibe, great food and a view. There was never a wait for any restaurants, but we ate earlier than most. The room was enormous and unique. Honestly, everything looks like the photos, which is pretty rare. :)
After an amazing shuttle ride, we were dropped off in the check-in office, we sat there without a greeting or any acknowledgement for a long time. (Some guests ahead of us were having trouble checking in) Problems happen, that's totally understandable, but a simple "Sorry for the wait, go hang outside with a drink and we'll get you when we figure this out" would have saved some frustration. A couple days in, we got a phone call saying we had a "Welcome Package" to pick up... cool! No, no... it was a sales pitch telling us how we basically stayed at the wrong resort for our age group, how we could have received a discount on massages (had she not been off work the day before), and that we should really go tour other resorts (and listen to more sales information). It just felt very slimy for such a high end resort, so... If you get that call, decline, but beware they may find you on the beach or around the resort.
