7.9 Good
Pros: great location, exotic villa, great views, clean pool, friendly service
Cons: Very poor air conditioning, very poor wi-fi
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It is a wonderful location far enough from the main part of town that you had an amazing view of the water but close enough for a 5 minute or less walk to restaurants. The room was good sized with a awesome balcony overlooking the water. Great place to sit back and relax. Parking was easy and close by.
Cons: Unfortunately, anytime another guest walked or talked outside the door it sounded like they were in the room with you. There were no dead bolts on the door so when this happened throughout the night it did make sleeping a bit uncomfortable.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful views over the estuary and large rooms. Good ac and internet
Cons: Very basic breakfast but was cheap.
7.5 Good
Pros: Huge room, nice beds and terrace.
Cons: Pool was half full.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Helpful employees and comfortable beds.
Cons: Bad wlan and the safe makes continuous noises.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: The room was large and comfy. The hotel is right on the malecón and the owners were very helpful.
4.6 Okay
Pros: Comfortable twin beds and good A/C
Cons: Showers cold, local tried to charge me the earth to do a basic tour so we decided to rent two bikes for the day for 30 peso each from the hotel. We then came back later to find the hotel wanted more money from us as they forgot to tell us what we paid was for an hour.. this was a blatant disrespectful attempt to extort money out of us as we were the only tourists here.. he also did this when no other staff were around. Over all this place is OVERPRICED.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Parking, shower, bed fine, clean place. Booked lagoon tour through the place which was all fine - possibly expensive but didn’t check other prices in town.
Cons: Breakfast is basic help yourself to toast, coffee, cereal and juice. Nothing wrong with it but it is basic. Pool too is standard but seem to be rare in town so maybe better than other places.
7.1 Good
Pros: Beautiful room, great pool, amazing view
Cons: Did not have free bicycle rental like advertised upon booking, also the safe did not work
5.8 Okay
Cons: Location is wrong. The location they advertise is the location of their restaurant which has pretty much the best location in town. We showed up there and they told us we had to walk to the other side of town, carrying our massive suitcases under the sun and the heat. Not a good experience!
Hotel Villa de Pescadores - Río Lagartos - Building
8.5 Excellent (469 reviews)
C$ 88+
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Villa de Pescadores in Rio Lagartos, you'll be within a 5-minute walk of Rio Lagartos Lighthouse and Municipal Palace. The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The room we got had two beds and a nice bathroom- everything was good quality for being in a small town and I was a bit shocked that the other reviews had described this as "basic." It definitely didn't feel like some boutique hotel in a major city, but it was a great place to stay for a night or two, quiet, private, and with a great patio looking out on the docks. There is a road between you and the docks but it's a small town so it doesn't create much noise.
Cons: I think the vibes were good, but not particularly charming or romantic.
7.5 Good
Pros: Good location
7.5 Good
Cons: The shower
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The cleanliness and the location.
Cons: It was a bit loud at night, it seems like there is a bar behind the hotel that has music playing very loud at night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the amazing view of the water and the motmot mural painted on the wall of our room. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. They helped us book an early morning tour with a local guide, Paco, who was very knowledgeable about birding and the local biosphere reserve. There were hummingbird feeders outside the common area in the lobby. Adorable, safe and clean hotel in a beautiful town.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff whom made us feel very welcome during our stay. Beautiful view from the balcony ☺️
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Great location if you are wanting to go out on the water. Our boat guide was able to pick us up at the dock across the street. All units are waterfront with AC and a fan in the unit. Has an amazing seafood restaurant next door. Walking distance to everything in town.
Cons: There is no glass on the windows that face the water, only a screen and wooden shutters on the inside. The water is a little stinky, and the smell came into the room if we had the shutters open. Couldn't smell it if we closed the shutters and used AC, though.
5.8 Okay
Pros: position was good.. , very central so easy to go to restaurants all around (50 meters max) and the view was good, the air con working and the overall was clean.
Cons: Being so central, we got both 2 nights with huge noise (music, karaoke, DJ, Band and so on) coming from 50 meters distance for ALL NIGHT LONG, until 5 in the morning!!!. Of course the insonorization of the room is close to zero, but that is expected. What was not expected is that the town allowed such big noise all night long. I wander how the workers (fishermen and tourist guide for the meny boats that bring tourist around the lagoon) can cope with this. Maybe was just an exceptional situation, but I was very angry with myself because I did not book the other hotel, was bit more expensive but 500 meters far so in much more quite position. Beside this, the bathroom was poor and toilette leaking lot of water (so bathroom always very wet), no lights on the side bed, so only 1 light in the room (very white and very powerfull....ugly). They must fix the toilette, and change the lights situation. At least. Considering the cost, it was the worse we got in our 7 days around Yucatan. Other places were cheaper and much better.
6.3 Good
Pros: Location straight on the lagoon.
Cons: It’s overprice for what you get: WiFi is poor, paper thin walls, the ground shakes by passing trucks, small basic breakfast.
7.9 Good
Pros: You can not stay closer to the harbor than in this pleasant hotel. The rooms are nice, the staff is also and you get a decent breakfast for free. It is also nice that one can use the hotel's own hammocks at the jetty in front of the house. The value for price is very good, and you can park your car in front of the hotel or just around the corner. Thank god it's not overcrowded with tourists. Of course, in the morning you hear the leaving fisher boats. But come on: That's nothing disturbing! And by the way: Rio Lagartos is such a nice little village with wonderful sunsets. Definitely one of the absolute highlights of our 2-week Yucatan trip. Enjoy a bird watching trip with Jorge by Rio Lagartos Experience (Whatsapp +52 986 112 3035). His office is right next to the hotel and he offers excellent tours. And he is a very nice guy.
Cons: The shower and toilet pumps in the hotel are not really quiet.
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel was basic but clean and the staff was helpful. We booked a tour to go visit the Reserva de la Biosfera, where you can see crocodiles, flamingos etc. through the hotel, who work with a biologist called Paco. He is a great guide and really did a great job at explaining different facts about the reserve and the animals. He charges 1,300 pesos per boat, so we met another traveller and split the cost with her. Definitely recommend the tour. The weather wasn't great so we didn't make it to las Coloradas unfortunately.
Cons: Breakfast wasn't great - very very basic and the coffee was quite bad.

Pros: Great location but can be noisy at night- nice airy rooms and nice breakfast to start the day
Cons: Bath is very small and shower is very low and not working correctly
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view from the balcony is just great, you can sit, relax, listen and observe the fishers and everything that is going on. Absolutely worth to book a room in this place.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location Clean Better than expected breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good AC. Big room. Great location. Parking. Good rate.
5.0 Okay
Cons: This is not a boutique hotel. If you go in with that mindset you will be heavily disappointed. I would advise against going to Rio Lagartos altogether. It's a long and uneventful drive, the pink lakes are overrated and the local "guides" aggressive. Also, there is no restaurant worth checking out. If you want to see flamingo's, I would take a trip to Celestun from Merida instead any day.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Bed was huge and comfortable, breakfast was included and nicely served. personell very welcoming. Very accesible and perfect to visit Las Coloradas, it has its own free parking lot.
Cons: Hotel was what we expected, everything very well....In the town not all businesses take credit card so better to have enough cash!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best place to stay in town with a very nice view
7.1 Good
Pros: Good location, basic good hotel, not fancy and I wouldn’t call it a boutique hotel. Bed was good, room was clean, locals made quite a bit of noise at night across the street. Staff spoke English but when asked a question while she was seated in the kitchen she didn’t even bother to get up.
Cons: No breakfast no water bottles
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location was fantastic. Staff were lovely and helpful, room was comfortable and clean.
Cons: Hot water ran out very quickly, unfortunately.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was really great.
Cons: There was a group of men playing music and having fun right in front of hotel. Couldn’t sleep until really late.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a good price and in a good location near the pier in Rio Largartos. Free parking around the corner of the hotel.
Cons: There were people in the lobby being loud until midnight.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Close to everything in town and the pier
7.9 Good
Pros: the room was great, huge and comfy bed, rather hot shower, good a/c, good coffee.
Cons: maybe it's only temporary (but still not good), there was some kind of fair right in front of the hotel, so forget quiet time, it was amazingly loud all evening until late at night. the staff seemed more busy with their phones than with guests, but friendly.
6.7 Good
Pros: Location and generally the price is good. Clean room
Cons: Water turned off in the middle of the day multiple times. Dirty tea and coffee cups. AC had mold on it and also dripping water. ATM 1 h away, and hotel has no service to get cash (our fault, but still)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff perfect!!
Cons: Was perfect
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Proximity to Colorado beach and quaint fishing village location.
Cons: WiFi
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The bed and pillows were super comfortable. Everything was clean, smelled very nice. Aircon ans TV with cable TV. Free coffee and tea are accessible all day long.
Cons: There was no window in the room. Including a breakfast would have been great. Staff too noisy after 10pm talking and laughing like if they were alone.
6.7 Good
Pros: good location
Cons: wifi was very poor staff not very friendly
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Close to local fishing and tours, good location
Cons: Tv was on in main area at very high volume.
6.3 Good
Pros: The room was clean, bathroom was really good, WiFi was slow, but working. We booked a private 2.5h lake tour through the hotel for 1500 MXN for two. It was really nice, we saw flamingos, crocodiles and a lot of birds.
Cons: The hotel has ZERO soundproofing and there's some kind of amusement park or fair in front of the hotel, which doesn't stop playing loud music until midnight. Bring a pair of good earplugs with you if you want to stay there. We were expecting something different going to a small fisher village. Big disappointment.
4.6 Okay
Pros: It’s average but fine for one night.
Cons: It needs a good clean but it’s not terrible. It’s just average - should cost less. Noisy if anyone is in the lobby or on the street!!

4.2 Okay
Cons: Basic accommodation. More like hostel. Min water to flush toilets. No hot water.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stall is great! Helped us book a boat ride. Beautiful humming birds constantly visiting the open reception. Very nice place to stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Extremely nice superior room with amazing view from private terrace
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely beautiful location, a wonderful view from our double room with balcony, and spotlessly clean. It was a real treat to sit on the balcony watching hummingbirds and pelicans just doing their thing in the estuary a few feet away.
Cons: Our room was large and clean, but like many places in Mexico, the shower was non-existent (a thin trickle of water that was mostly cold but occasionally piping hot). The bed was comfortable but under the sheets the mattress was covered with unremovable plastic sheeting, making them hot and squeaky. We would have loved to have stayed for longer, were it not for the shower. It’s a beautiful place and Roger (the owner) is very kind and helpful. Two nights was perfect.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was okay, but not great.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The manager Roger was extremely helpful with a parking ticket that we received in Vallabid
Cons: None
5.8 Okay
Pros: The view, good beds and fridge.
Cons: Lack of maintenance of essential facilities (had to use a bucket to flush toilet). Shower only a drible. It was most expensive of all the places we stayed in Mexico but not worth the money. The breakfast could have been better , it was just fruit and bread and jams. It could have been improved with offering some eggs or an omelette. Had potential to be good but needed more maintenance and more effort put into breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s great, calm, amazing view of the water, breakfast included. The staff were so friendly and within 10 minutes of arriving the staff had helped us organise a trip to the Biosphere to see flamingoes and crocodiles!
Cons: It’s hard to say. We extended our stay because it was great!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything especially the view
Cons: Nothing
