Bath was nice. So was location
Window open full of wasps. No button on toilet flush. No fitness suite as advertised. Sink blocked. Clump of hair stuck to bath towel. WiFi none existent. Receptionist didn't make any comment at all when I raised the issues.
The bed and pillows were comfortable and the room was clean
Breakfast took more than 30 minutes to arrive. This was disappointing as it was only avocado on toast with peppers from a jar. The bread had been toasted but was cold. The first coffee I was served was cold and I had to send it back. The room was cold but there was an extra radiator provided.
On the face of it Sheene Mill should be a nice hotel, tea rooms and the restaurant are lovely, even if a little tired (e.g., arm chairs in the tea rooms are damaged and looking scruffy). The gardens are charming.
Our guest room was terrible. In the deal, bath and seating area in the room were included, but there was no bath, and only one tiny uncomfortable rattan chair was provided - no way you could have a cup of coffee with your husband after a walk! One sits, the other stands?... The floorboards in the room above were constantly squeaking. We were in room no. 3, on the first floor, right next to the entrance door which was banging and squeaking each time someone passed through. The bathroom (just shower, no bath, although the deal listed bath in Facilities Included) was tiny but there was a 2 meter tall (massive!) electric towel rail which was blazing hot, making not only the tiny bathroom impossible to stay in but the whole bedroom extremely hot and uncomfortable. There was no thermostat or another form of regulating the heater in the shower room. When we enquired with the manager, he said he can only keep it switched on (very hot!) or turn it off (cold!), on the switchboard in a cupboard that only he had access to, on the corridor. Apparently he could not switch it off for our room only, and could only switch it off for all the rooms in the hotel (well, this sounded like nonsense to us, but hey!). In addition, guests were playing loud music in the room next to us but the management did not do anything about it. There was no way we could stay in that hotel. We both needed sleep after difficult time but we would not get it in that hotel, so we left at 9.30 pm. We are now requesting our money back.
The food was spectacular, the staff were fantastic. Will definitely recommend
Nothing, excellent all round location.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Excellent value for money food out of this world
Toilet button was broken in our room and need a shelf in shower to put you stuff on when showing
