The staff is quite helpful. The owner of the hostel tries also to organise you some excursions but she did something that we didn't like so much. We had an excursion contracted for one day organised by her and the same day in the morning she told us that it was not possible to do it. She knew it from the day before but she waited until the last moment to tell us. We could have planned something alternative. We were only for 3 days in San Andres.
Breakfast are always the same food (eggs and toasts).
Very nice and very helpful staff!!! I had some trouble with my flight tickets and they helped me to get things sorted out. Great aircon. Rooms are basic but very clean.
Shared bathroom area for women was pretty small with one sink only and a bit old.
Not much. The breakfast was the same every morning. Variety would be nice. It seems like a family get together place for the owner and her friends & family. They do not interact with guests. Very cold. Especially Monica, the manager. Just seemed stressed all the time & always curt. They have a sister complex called Shay across the street that seems like a ghost town. The neighborhood literally seems like a ghetto. If you’re a single female, avoid at all costs. Lots of delinquents hanging out here and they are drunk half the time.
There were a mom and daughter from Israel who rented a buggy. It was in bad shape. The mirror would not adjust and it wasn’t driving properly. Monica the manager was so rude to them. And she wanted to charge them more for a buggy that actually worked. These people Monica, Shayra, her mom, all are extortion experts. Don’t book a single tour here because you will be ripped off. And you won’t feel safe either. Even if you book a room with a private bathroom which accommodates two people, they will charge you for the second person, up to $30. No logic, no reason. Monica the manager just wants your money. There is no customer satisfaction. It’s non-existent. Be prepared to be treated poorly. When asked how to provide feedback to management, they ignored me. Yes, it’s one of those places with zero accountability. They don’t think long term. They want to rip you off now. Losing business is ok to them, because they don’t really care about long term investment in clients. They should not be in the hospitality industry.
The lady in the kitchen was nice. Location was decent. But other than that a disaster. Do pay attention to the reviews that talk about the drunks on the corner. More like thugs. Monica the manager does nothing to take care of it. Also they have a restaurant & they just feed themselves. No food provided. Shayra the owner’s niece and her mom pretend they are nice, but all the same. Once told me to leave the breakfast area while I was still having my coffee. This is a rip off. Unprofessional and horrible service.
The manager Monica charged me $30 when my friend came to join me. I had booked a private room with attached bath. There were 3 beds in the room. The price for one person or two is exactly the same. They basically extorted the money from me. I was there for a week. And the whole time you could tell they just want your money. Rude as well. I had a taxi waiting for me once and Monica insisted I accompany her to the office, almost making me late
This is a good affordable choice on San Andres if you want to stay in town on a budget. The location is really great, close to the beach and restaurants. They rent scooters for a competitive price and the ladies who run the places are very helpful (although you really need to know Spanish).
The room was pretty tiny. We travel light and our stuff barely fit. Some more hooks in the room would be great too. But for the money I don't think there is a better option so close to town.
