was not able to go because hurricane Harvey. Could not get a refund.
The price was good for the river walk frontage. The valet was extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet was good. It was nice to have a small selection of food at the coffee bar.
The A/C dripped water onto the carpet. One of our room keys didn't work. The parking pass didn't work when we were ready to leave.
El Tropicano Hotel while close to downtown was still removed from the regular commuter traffic. No noisy ambulances or no highly traveled streets to manuever.
No ice machines on our floor.
We were looking forward to using the hotel's pool but it was closed due to construction and the website didn't mention it. The drain in the bath/shower didn't go down fast enough. In the middle of showering I had to turn off the water so the water could drain down the tub.
Staff was super friendly
Aging hotel, due for a refresh. Very limited dining options on hotel. Most customers wear wife beaters and carry cases of beer into hotel.
Pool was closed the entire time
Just okay don't expect anything more
The hotel had a decent pool with a bar and a fire.
The hotel is old and out dated the toilets were not clean. They charge their customers for parking. And it's a steep charge of 21 dollars a night for valet or 16 for self parking. I would not stay in this hotel again it is not a good value for the money. Holiday Inn or even a best value inn would be better
The first night, they gave us a 1 bed when I had booked 2. That was resolved the next day. Thanks to the manager, Alex C., for this change. The lobby was great! Very friendly staff.
The parking situation. Too expensive to self park!
Greatt location for the price, hotel looks really nice and the room was also very comfortable.
Did not get room service for the second day so I was short on towels as I was staying with somebody else. Room did not have a microwave and the drink vending machines were only on selected floors.
Sad, sad facility. The poor staff.
The staff was prompt, courteous and apologetic, but there was just too many reasons for them to apologize.
The hotel is a shambles. The first room had a leaking AC unit that drenched all of my stuff. The 2nd room had roaches. The third room was ok, but when we went for breakfast the morning we checked out we saw mice running around the restaurant. Pretty disgusting all and all
Loved the character of the hotel. It's on the river, so you can sit on the patio or balcony overlooking that, and there are water taxis that go by. The hotel has a fun feel, and its personality is a winner. Be sure to visit the toucan, tortoise, and birds in the lobby!
Parking is expensive ($16/night for surface lot self parking), breakfast is not included, and it's a decent walk to the shops and restaurants
I liked the view from the front side of the building, it was a great view of San Antonio. Also the bars/restaurants in the lobby were very convenient
