Good value for money Friendly staff We normally stay in much more expensive Hotels But was righ for the price
Entertainment Finished a bit early on a Saturday night No music in the bar after entertainment finished Could do with a CD player to make a bit of atmosphere and to make people spend a bit of money
I am 83, and not as mobile as I once was. My eyesight does not permit me to drive any more. The hotel is located at virtual sea level, with no public transport at that level. The nearest bus stop is at the top of a very steep hill. If I had been aware of this before booking, I could well have had second thoughts. On the first evening, we went to the restaurant for a meal, and were informed that we should have booked. On reading my leaflet, I could see that this was required, but think that Reception should be advised to remind visitors when booking in. There was a good range of choice for breakfast, and the 'full English breakfast' was a good start for the day. My wife and I enjoyed our stay, and would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel - TO PEOPLE I CONSIDERED FIT ENOUGH TO CLIMB THE HILL!
If I were on the hotel's management, I would lobby the local bus company to provide a convenient service.
No wifi inside rooms only in public areas. No parking available. Too costly with the facilities provided.
We had a sea view. It’s dead opposite the pier and location was great.
I can’t think of anything to be honest, only stayed one night and it was fine.
My room was comfortable and the breakfast adequate BUT... I arrived at 10.15 p.m., when Reception was, as I had been informed, closed. I tried the front door which was, as I had been informed, closed. There was a member of staff inside who saw me but took no notice of me. I then tried the Night Bell; there was no response, not surprisingly, since, as I learner later, it was not working; the staff knew this. To open the door I had to know the code for the entryphone; the receptionist, though friendly and ioformative about her home town, had omitted to give this to me, as she should have done whether I requested it or not. My mobile phone, without roaming, was unable to connect me with the two emergency numbers posted on the front door. I now faced the possibility of having to sleep the night on the beach. Fortunately a couple of other visitors arrived after a while, and found themselves in just the same position as myself. They did however succeed in ringing the emergency numbers, and were given the code. The entryphone was so old and worn that it was hard to make out the numbers by the buttons, but after several tries the door opened. The barmaid, to whom we complained, could not have been more helpful and apologetic, but the faults in thr system were made quite clear, Intending visitors should be on their guard,
