Wonderful stay
Staff very accommodating
The staff throughout hotel and venues we're incredible.
Air conditioning was not working.
Lovely views of the North Sea and presumably great golf courses. My suite was quite large and pretty comfortable
Mostly disliked the atrium which by its design and its decor made it feel like a second tier convention hotel. Compared to its closest competitor in town, the Old Course, the Fairmont was decidedly lacking in style and distinction. The common rooms (restaurants, bars,...) have no character or luxurious feeling to them.
rooms a good size equipped with some nice home comforts & breakfast was excellent with a good variety!!i come every year in april on a golf trip and always recommend the hotel
like i said i come every year on a golf trip, this time ibrought my partner and thought it ridiculous i paid £179 for the room and to have 2 single mattresses pushed together!!surely for that price u could expect a proper queen size mattress?also i wouldnt expect to pay £9:55 for a lager and long vodka on george street in edinburgh let alone in a hotel on the outskirts of st andrews
The valet car parking was excellent with very friendly staff
The spa was hugely disappointing for a luxury hotel and the dining room lacks any atmosphere.
Hotel facilities are excellent and staff were very friendly and helpful. A great place to relax !
The bedroom was very well appointed and very comfortable. We had a problem with the heating system which was resolved easily by one phone call.
I didn't like the restaurant's position in the atrium. As a result, we didn't consider eating in the hotel and would not do so if we relurn in future.
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Felt it was a bit pricey, but you get whatyou pay for.
99% of staff excellent. Ambience and facilities excellent.
Limited menu choice in 'Rock and Spindle' and 'Kittocks Den'. Check out member of staff somewhat surly - didn't even ask after 4 nights if we enjoyed our stay!
My husband and I booked this hotel as a romantic weekend away, and we were not disappointed. The staff at this hotel were excellent, not one member of staff passed you by without saying hello and asking how you were, including the man transporting luggage and a hotel engineer who shared the lift with us. This hotel was pure luxury, rooms spotless, large bed and very quiet so got a great night sleep. The views from this hotel were also stunning. There are a few bars and different eating places, breakfast was great, huge selection both mornings. However, I was not overly impresses with evening meals, not enough choice and I sent two thing back to the kitchen, this is what let this hotel down, the rest made up for it and I would return.
Not enough selection for dinner, what I did order had to be returned to kitchen. (Greasy little crispy things, that claimed to be beefeater fries, and a pasta dish that was completely bland). Staff though were very apologetic and could't do enough to try to rectify it.
Upgraded room when staff heard it was our anniversary.....poll/sauna/jacuzzi were excellent.......breakfast very good and great selection
The location, the view, the warm welcome, the setting, the atmosphere, the cleanliness, the breakfast was phenomenal, the treatment, the morning checkin aka 945am!...given our initial introduction to Scotland in Edinburgh, it was the perfect way to turn our 2nd day of our honeymoon around! thank you thank you thank you..
nothing...
Room service was very friendly, even at 1am, and the food was excellent! The range available at the buffet breakfast was also very good. The shuttle into town was a definite plus.
Bathrobes hadn't been re-supplied in the room, and one of the bins didn't have a liner, however I'm sure the situation would have been rectified promptly if we'd been bothered enough to mention it. The only problem was cell phone reception--very good at the centre of the hotel, completely non-existent further out in the wings.
