Historic old building
Few staff. First room shown too had a very unstable floor. New room supposed to be a superior room was substandard, had no towels , no tv remote. 2 single beds pushed together , kept separating. No mattress protector, no fitted sheet, lumpy pillows. Bathroom , no extractor fan , mouldy tiles, slow running drains. Bar area , no staff, dust and dead flies on window sills . Restaurant, wobbly table , poor quality food for the price
Pleasant location, the breakfast staff both days we stayed were excellent.
Unfortunately the evening staff for restaurant were not up to usual standards took almost 2hrs for 2 course meal wait time was silly, not even that busy in restaurant, we found out only 1 chef cooking for restaurant and bar food(which they stopped 2nd night) didn’t excuse the poor service never asked if we would like a drink unti pudding was served, dirty plates left on table for 10min plus even tho the staff walked past at least a dozen times and this wasn’t just our table but all of them. 2nd night we were going to have the bar food until we found out that the chef wouldn’t be cooking it that night (didn’t blame him) tho there was a party of 8 with children who they had to leave the hotel to find something to eat which we thought was appalling as there is nothing on the restaurant menu that caters for children.. as I say poor evening staff bit excellent breakfast staff..
-Very nice décor (except the dirty pillow) -Good location - highly recommend a glass of wine by the lake in the evening, it's very relaxing -Friendly staff (helped us in the morning when we had to jump the car)
-Scatter pillows on the bed had cases on them that couldn't be removed (means they can't be washed in-between guests) -Room was on a steep slant, I put my drink on a side and it almost spilled over as I walked across the room as the whole floor seemed to be uneasy -Shower was a showerhead attached to a bath, not a proper shower -Single use plastic cups instead of glass ones
Bed was comfortable. Beautiful grounds
Poor Wi-Fi non existent in room. Doors perpetually slamming despite notices to guests. Lack of mains plug outlets in room. TV on bedside table making it hard for two to watch. Dust inside drawers hadn't been cleaned for a while.
The bathroom wasn't very clean.
