It was under construction (renovation) and some facilities were closed
Beautiful hotel, shame about the lifts
We loved spending a night in the hotel. Our first room was next to the elevators - convenient but so noisy! We were kindly accommodated in a new room after voicing our concern. The room service meal was delicious and great value. Highly recommended.
Great location and friendly staff. Can’t help but get swept up in the grandeur of the lobby.
Not great value for money. Paid for ‘upgraded’ room and couldn’t tell the difference. Our reservation at Epic was mysteriously cancelled (eventhough they called twice to confirm reso). Rushed out after only an hour for another event. If the location was anywhere else, wouldn’t stay again.
Excellent old luxury hotel in downtown Toronto, ideally situated next to the railway station. Very nice staff.
Room was very noisy. The front desk was very responsive when I made it known that people next door were very noisy. Also, they charged me for WiFi which seems cheap.
Adjoining and hallway noise!!!
Pricey, but worth it.
Wonderful staff! Beautiful hotel!
We had a few mishaps unrelated to hotel and the staff were SO helpful, kind and industrious. They helped us deal w/mishaps while keeping us comfortable.
The quality of the bed, sheets and pillow. The hotel amenities and the shopping level and access to more.
Nostalgic and classy
The Royal York has a great location and fabulous staff. The rooms are beginning to be renovated and the bathroom is TINY but they work. When they have good prices this is a great option!!
Amazing staff, decadent surroundings, great views, incredibly comfortable beds and accommodations, Union station is across the street for transportation and the hotel itself is like visiting a landmark - it's beautiful. The price is high, but it's for all of those reasons.
Thin walls. A lot of the comfort and decadence was dampened by some people who decided to have a "get together" around 11 PM next door that continued until about 2:30 AM. When it was down to 2 people you might guess what the next hour sounded like. Needless to say I did not sleep. I had to check out for an early flight around 4 AM, so I didn't bother kicking up a stink with management. I will next time though. I would stay again, but will request a room not joined if possible. Other than the inconsiderate neighbours, I loved the hotel.
Great lobby + pool, tiny room
Comfy bed Delicious, impeccably cooked steaks Nice pool area El Labo soaps smell amazing Room service was very fast and friendly
Very few gluten free items on menus Several times we had a hard time getting in touch with staff (consierge, maintenance, bell desk) Room was incredibly cramped and looked hastily repaired or shoddily renovated Room smelled of previous tenants body odour or cigarettes Closet light was clicking on and off sporadically Steam room in health facilities seemed unclean/didn't smell good
