Overview

The Renaissance Washington DC Downtown Hotel offers plenty of business perks for travelers in a neighborhood crowded with office buildings and across from the popular convention center. While Washington DC is highly populated with tourists, mostly business travelers find their way to Renaissance Washington.

Located in the compact Penn Quarter, the Renaissance Washington is a safe, convenient option for both business and leisure travelers. The area is full of restaurants and shops, and still close to the major sights and monuments. The Verizon Center sports arena, the Capitals, and the Wizzards are all close walks to the hotel. The hotel may seem secluded, but turn the corner and Chinatown is gleaming. The museums, monuments, and major tourist attractions are a bit of a hike, but three Metro stations within blocks of the hotel make getting around easy.

The 807-room business-oriented hotel has comfortable accommodations that were completely renovated in 2013. The rooms are clean and stylish, with modern and streamlined design. Rooms have large workspaces, iPod docking stations, upscale toiletries, and stylish bathrooms. The hotel offers a great gym and spa, plus Wi-Fi, a FedEx office center, a Starbucks, food court, deli, and sports bar.

With small rooms and little to offer, the Renaissance Washington isn’t a family affair. Situated in the middle of the business district, this hotel caters perfectly to business travelers and convention goers. It also is known to have one of the best gyms in the city, as well as an extensive business facility.

Very good
Chrissy, Jun 2021
Pros (+) The staff was friendly and helpful.
Cons (-) The fragrance in lobby was very strong and unexpected to someone sensitive to odors.

Good
Anonymous, Dec 2019
Pros (+) Location is great, bar / restaurant was convenient
Cons (-) I'm not sure whether it was just my room being located at the end of a hallway or in a corner, but the noise coming from the hallway was significantly loud in my room. Also, the walls seemed *really* thin, as I could hear the conversations of the people in the room next to mine pretty clearly. I had to use a white noise app on my phone to drown it out so I could get some sleep.

Wonderful
Leland, May 2019
Pros (+) Very good amenities in room for charging phones, tablets, computers, etc. Very clean and well maintained. Staff was very friendly and helpful
Cons (-) Starbucks is right in the lobby. But allow extra time as their service is considerably slower than typical of Starbucks

Very good
Anonymous, Jun 2017
Pros (+) Very friendly staff!
Cons (-) Watch the charges. Some claim "free" or complimentary but they aren't. Also the front desk wasn't staffed well for a busy weekend of a large charity function. Longer than expected wait times to check-in and out especially.
