Excellent 10.0
Pros: Clean Great staff Located right in centre of Stone Town
Excellent 9.0
Pros: We stayed at Coffee House for two nights and had the best time. It's authentic, in a great location, fantastic view from the rooftop, amazing coffee, delicious breakfast and the staff are first class. Noreen was really lovely and very responsive to emails from the beginning - she also gave us a free upgrade to the Bourbon suite! Transfers to and from the airport and within Zanzibar are reasonably priced so would definitely recommend using them.
Cons: everything was great!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything was spectacular. They upgraded us to the best room. Definitely tbe best coffee in whole Tanzania or Zanzibar. Our vest breakfast so far as well. Don't miss out the passion fruit juice or the avocado toast in the rooftop! Thank you for everything was amazing!
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Beautiful well kept old style hotel.
Cons: Water pressure is low. Lighting in rooms is a bit harsh without lamp shades
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I had a great unique stay at Zanzibar Coffee House for 2 nights in the elegant Arabica suite. The room is so authentic and nicely decorated with its private bathroom. The Rooftop Terrace is simply gorgeous with nice views, you can enjoy good coffee and desert too. Noreen, the Hotel Manager is amazing, she gave me a room upgrade for the first night. She is very responsive to all my e-mails and arranged for me all the transportation required during my stay in Zanzibar including my PCR test. This Hotel is charming and you feel like you have gone back in time. I would definitely come back again.
Cons: Nothing at all!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The breakfast was always exceptional, fresh fruit, great coffee with awesome service.
Cons: Nothing! It was perfect!

Excellent 8.0
Pros: Breakfast staff were exceptional as well as quality of food
Cons: Booked 3 Rooms 2 of which were not ready on check in
Excellent 10.0
Pros: -I enjoyed the pool area and the breakfast options were great.
Cons: -My room was located towards the city and it was a bit noisy due to some birds...
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Loved everything -location , rooms , ambiance , staff was amazing , very friendly and nice . Great hotel .
Cons: Everything was perfect
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I had such a fantastic time from the moment I walked in till I left. The hotel itself is gorgeous, they've made beautiful use of the space, but the real clincher is the friendly staff - from Kidawa, Fauzi, Bahari and Edna - to so many others who always had a smile and a greeting, it really lifts your spirits. I was lucky to be upgraded to a suite, which was very indulgent and great size for a family with kids. The room is fitted with everything you need - from comfy couches, TV's in both rooms, water, fruit, you name it. I did have breakfast on both days - the buffet is large and has a nice selection of local food (curries, bread, vegetables and meat) and the usual cereals, eggs to order, sausages, bacon, etc. The pool - so so gorgeous! A great place to watch the sunset. I visited the spa during my stay - such a good decision - Rennelly is a magician! She is such a good therapist and I left the spa feeling completely rejuvenated. The hotel itself is right at the edge of the land, so it looks out on the water, and is next to other big hotels so it is a very, very safe area. This will now be my happy place in Zanzibar :)
Cons: Absolutely nothing, everything was amazing.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Clean and bright. Well laid out abs expertly decorated. Close to the beach and restaurants Staff are superb. Victory is wonderful, she is a credit to the Hyatt
Cons: Nothing

Excellent 9.7
Pros: Terrific hotel with wonderful pool, views, right on the beach, good food selection and quality, superb staff. A bit pricey for being right in stone town (and therefore not on the nicest beach), but a great place to stay for those who don't have time to get out to the further parts of the island

Excellent 10.0
Pros: The building is full of character and has a lot of history. Location is excellent for walking to the sea front and around Stone Town. Despite being central, it is very quiet and peaceful.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: From the warm welcome with the tasty welcome drink to the arranged taxi ride home, my stay was perfection ! Each night there was a turndown service, and each morning a fantastic spread for breakfast (think eggs and baked beans or French toast and fresh hibiscus and fruits) - oh and coffee served early on the balcony upon request. I loved all the details from the refillable soaps in the luxurious tub, silk bathrobes to feel like the Sultanah of the room, the incense, the map with pins for the guests. They also booked me a Stonetown walking tour and a massage on the 3rd floor suite in the airy suite - all great services.
Cons: Nothing to say ! All good.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Amazing staff, well located, thoughtfully decorated, brilliant breakfast and fantastic wifi.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: .
Cons: .
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The cozy and illustrious place is an old merchant home renovated in perfect conditions. The owner and manager Daniela was of great support and a full source of information about all things to know. The support in those difficult times was outstanding! Due to the pandemic it was chosen to eat in the hotel every evening. To keep it short: FANTASTIC! In summary if I ever will return to Zanzibar I will definitely return to the Zanzibar Palace!

Excellent 8.0
Pros: It's really seafront. Walking distance from the Forodhani Gardens. Close to the distillery and house of wonder. Staff were nice.
Cons: There was no lift. A little hard for an unfit person :)
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The room was amazing and big and also it was Infront of the main high way , I can see the ocean and all activities in Zanzibar (forodhani)
Cons: Beach , weather , environment was superb
Excellent 8.0
Pros: I love that it had the Arab house style to it, it was also at a prime location and close to a lot of the things we needed. The staff are also helpful, kind and warm!
Good 7.0
Pros: Close to the city
Cons: I've booked triple room for 3 adults, hotel confirm 3 beds but we found 2 beds, the same story with safebox, they confirm safe box in the room but it doesn't work
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Welcoming staff, nice hotel
Cons: Ras
Excellent 9.0
Pros: I only spent one night but I will definitely be visiting again. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the staff is friendly. I really loved my room. I felt like a Queen! I also got some nice Instagram photos. I also love that it's close to the Ferry.
Cons: The mattress could've been a little softer.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Amazing old building with tons of charm! Great views from the balconies!
Cons: Breakfast wasn’t impressive.. Stale and dry bread and fruit tasted like it was cut hours earlier..
Excellent 10.0
Pros: It was a pleasure staying in the hotel. Also big thanks to Walid and Rashid for helping out. i had to print once a document to travel and Walid (who finished work at this day) came back to the hotel from his home to print. i appreciate that very much. You won’t find a service like that often
Cons: All good

Excellent 10.0
Pros: The location is great, the staff is really nice. Frank helped us with everything! The breakfast was delicious and fresh. The room was good size and equipped with everything that one would need.
Cons: Maybe a charging place close to the bed would have helped.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The location within the old town of Stone Town is perfect. We had an excellent breakfast at the rooftop which was really delicious and plenty. It won´t get any better. The view from the rooftop is loveöy as well. We have been greeted with a welcome drink which was a lovely suprise as well. Overall we had a great stay.
Cons: The price is relatively high for Zanzibar. The pictures look slightly better vs. reality to be honest. There was no hot water in our bathroom so you have to shower with almost cold water.
Good 7.0
Pros: The location and the interior design of the hotel were really good
Cons: - We were placed at the room that was located on the ground floor, it was so NOISY. You would hear people at the reception and people on the street plus motorcycles driving around early in the morning. It was pure madness, I had to wake up multiple times during my stay because of the noise - we were charged so much money for staying half a day to wait for our night flight - the bathroom at room #1 needs some maintenance, some things were actually broken and unusable for guests We stayed in both Kisiwa hotels, the one on the beach in Paje and the one in stone town. The difference of both experiences were like day and night!! Unfortunately our experience in Kisiwa house wasn’t as enjoyable as our stay in their sister hotel in Paje
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The breakfast was my favorite thing. Amazing customer service overall excellent experience. Would recommend to everyone!
Cons: Nothing loved everything!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Excellent location and very friendly staff who try their best to help you with everything you need , big recommendation especially for Miraji
Poor 1.0
Cons: The staff is horrible and they are not understanding of travelers situations. The hotel is not in a nice area in stone town. Also, the manager and the staff and not well aware of booking.com policies.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: This boutique hotel is a real jewel in Stone Town. By the shore, close the airport, Arab colonial style structure, fully renovated. Excellent food, good advice for all excursions. Louisa is the real soul of the hotel, the auntie everybody would like to have. Highly recommended
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Second visit after 8 years and I felt home again. Loved it
Good 7.0
Cons: That they wanted to charge us double for airport pick up. Even though our flights landed close time wise. While confirming the the booking they should have clarified this, so that there wouldn’t be any misunderstanding. As we asked for help with our luggage at check out the receptionist rudely mentioned that that’s not free of charge, we would have to pay the guy. Obviously we are not creatures with no manners…of course we were going to tip the guy.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Loved the cultural touch and uniqueness.
Poor 1.0
Pros: Our favourite moment of our stay there was checking out and leaving.
Cons: If there was an option for abysmal, we would select that. The staff had absolutely no urgency. The breakfast was too small for a child, incomplete and took a lot of effort to even order a basic item. My wife persisted and had something to eat, I actually gave up and left without having anything due to frustration. The pictures advertising the unit are very well taken as they do not give an accurate representation of the views, facilities or decor. We actually checked out a day early losing a full day's payment and booked another hotel as we were totally dissatisfied with almost every aspect of our stay there.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The location is great and the rooms meet all the needs for a comfortable stay.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Check in was so smooth! The staff were very sharp during registration. The decor and set up of the hotel really mimicked the home of a royal family— since Kholle house was once the residence of Princess Kholle. You can see that the owners really tried to renovate as much as possible without taking away from the history. The beds were spacious, room looked a bit different from the pictures but that was fine. The breakfast was amazing and generous. We had to catch a Safari blue trip and staff tried their best to accommodate us by preparing a quick breakfast! Overall, it was a pleasant stay and I would totally stay there again.
Cons: I needed to iron my shirt but by the time I went to reception to ask for an iron or someone to iron it for me… they had closed! It was a bit frustrating but that’s about it.

Excellent 8.0
Pros: The room was lovely and spacious and on the rooftop. Great shower The location was very good, right in the middle of Stone Town. We had to check out very early, so had a takeaway breakfast only, which was ok.
Cons: The beds creaked really badly and it was a bit short for me The AC was extremely noisy but there was a ceiling fan as well The swimming pool is in the lobby area and so seems a bit exposed
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Location
Cons: Lift was not working .. sea view rooms are at 3 rd floor Steep and wooden steps not at all comfortable while staying with kids .
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The palace is very characteristic, it has traditional bath that u not gonna see in more modern hotels or apartments (after staying in two of such places with traditional rooms and baths staying now in more modern apartments is not that nice). The swimming pool and breakfast area are amazing. The location is close to everything that a tourist need. The first day we arrived and asked to bring our dinner to the roof top and it was stunning there
Cons: A room was a bit dark. While having breakfast the door that leads to the street is open and cars and noise with dust flying are quite disturbing. There is no parking if u arrive with rented car as we did. The restaurant food is ok, can't say it was very good.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Really old hotel but very well maintained. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly. As we were flying only in the evening and check-out was in the morning, we were allowed to leave our luggage at the hotel, while we walked around. That was really helpful.

Cons: The beds were rock hard

Pros: The hotel is very nice and the staff friendly. The hotel has a beautiful architecture, with spacious rooms, a small courtyard inside and a rooftop restaurant for breakfast. Rooms are decorated in an arabic style, with large beds, arch doors and lively colors. They don't have numbers, but names. The bathroom does indeed miss a door to separate it from the rest of the room, so it is best if you only stay with your spouse or close friends, as bathroom privacy is not available. A/C is also present in all rooms. Wifi is available everywhere in the premises, but it is restricted to guests. Permission to internet is only granted during your stay. Jafferji was one of the few places where I had a satisfactory breakfast in Tanzania. Besides the eggs, you may serve dishes from an open buffet until you are all full. The friendly staff is the strongest point of the hotel. People at the reception, especially Lucas Steven, were prompt to help us in any possible way. He helped us with directions through the twisted streets of the Old Town, printed our COVID test results (required for boarding the plane back), watched our luggage after check out. While waiting to leave, after check out, he served us delicious Tanzanian coffee. Hotel security is provided by the traditional Maasai, which sit in front of the hotel day and night.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Only reason I hate to give such a good review is that I want to keep this hidden gem to myself.. what a mesmerizing place, on a perfect location and the personnel couldn’t be better. We loved it here so much!
Excellent 9.0
Pros: We've stayed here multiple times and it never disappoints. Perfect location to explore Stone Town and the decor is the traditional Swahili style. Incredibly helpful staff assisted us in any way that they could. We'll be back!
Cons: Shame that the restaurant wasn't open for lunch/dinner.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Location in centre of stone town

Excellent 10.0
Excellent 9.0
Pros: I stayed in the same hotel chain in other locations and found them all to be wonderful
Cons: I thought the showers/bathrooms needed a bit of work. It would be great if they change some of the appliances and give it a new look
Okay 4.0
Pros: Clean
Cons: Mattress very uncomfortable and no consideration for people sleeping with constructions going on in the room next to us at 9am although there were very few people in the hotel. Also was very expensive not worth $275 per night at all, ive stayed in Super Luxury hotels for that price per night and this is not one of them.
Excellent 9.0
Cons: Superb team of staff who went out of their way to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. Highly recommended!

Excellent 9.0
Pros: Love the character of this place. Great service! Would recommend to friends.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The location of the hotel is great and the view from the rooftop terrace is amazing. Breakfast was very good and staff very helpful. Our room was very spacious especially travelling with two small children.
Cons: We were given a room that is in another building across the street so our room didn't have the sea view as advertised on booking.com but is was still good.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The property was right on the beach front but also in the heart of stone town. An easy walk to all spots but with the option of breakfast on the beach. The pools were lovely and clean and the roof terrace was great.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: This hotel is in the most ideal location in stonetown. The breakfasts are one of the best we had in Zanzibar. The staff are very accommodating. We had an amazing experience and will definitely be back. A special thank you to Rahim and Abubakr Maabad, excellent service.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Beautiful design, right on the beach.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff are friendly and efficient, the room is really clean and has the nice little extra touches, and the breakfast is really good. The cafe downstairs is really cute and has good food too. I highly recommend this place.
Cons: Everything was perfect
Good 7.0
Pros: - Location is good for the price you pay, only 10 min walk to the main sights - Bed was confortable - Great breakfast - Hotel staff is great and welcoming, from the receptionist to the cook or the room maid. - Given the price, I would definitely come back, as other places (front of the beach) are much more expensive.
Cons: - Hotel would probably need a bit of refurbishment - Bathroom outside the room, but I knew it before coming so can’t complain really
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Beautiful place, perfect price quality experience, super helpful and friendly stuff, loved it! Rooms are spacious and bed is comfortable!
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Good AC, nice and clean room, nice staff, decent on site restaurant, good location for my purposes... Excellent value for money!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I really enjoyed my stayed. Fabi, Jackeline and the rest of the staff were very nice and patient. They helping me with everything I ask, and I admit I was bit annoying. Thanks 🙌
Good 7.0
Pros: The location is great, close to the port, the old city and spice market, all possible to walk. The food is good and the prices moderate. For us the optimal location to our demands...
Cons: The rooms are very small also the bathroom was a squarefoot block... the way of invoicing as a bit strange, as it was said that the rooms are paid upfront from Booking com and I had to pay again when checking in, took a while to sort it out...
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Location near the ferry and market
Cons: Workers who prepare breakfast don't speak English at all
Good 7.0
Pros: Clean rooms, good A/C, good WiFi. Haven't tried breakfast since I booked the room just for 6 hours before my flight.
Cons: I booked Double or Twin Room with Bathroom, however my room didn't have one (bathroom was down the hall). I didn't bother to raise the issue as I didn't plan to say overnight anyway.
Excellent 8.8
Excellent 9.7
Pros: The room was comfortable and a good size for me as a solo traveler. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and I was able to book several excursions through the reception desk. I also liked having the cafe available for meals, and the breakfast buffet upstairs.
Cons: The location was fine, but I would have liked to be slightly closer to the center of Stone Town.

Good 7.0
Pros: -rooftop -location
Cons: -no wifi in room, only Lobby and rooftop
Okay 5.0
Pros: The beds and the interior finishing
Cons: The swimming pool, you better stop lying 🤥
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I had an amazing view from the window. The room interior was very atmospheric. The terrace for breakfast, where the bar and restaurant are located is nice and one of the best choices in the city to enjoy the sunset with a refreshing drink. Stuff is friendly and always ready to help. Close to another place which is highly recommended to be visited if you’re a coffee fan - the coffee house. Coffee there is something fantastic. Thanks a lot for a lovely stay!
Cons: Wi-fi works only at reception or at the terrace, no wi-fi in rooms at all.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Great services, wonderful breakfast, and MR. BAKARI is an excellent man and a loyal and highly professional hotel manager that increases the company's good name. Thank you Mr. Bakari, I would like to meet you again one day...
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Nice, big rooms. Amazing and helpful staff. Great roof top bar with wonderful view on the city.
Cons: No internet connection in rooms.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great breakfast, very interesting architecture, beautiful rooms, lovely service.
Cons: No WiFi in the rooms (I think it's impossible in buildings made of stone but could be wrong). On the photos there seems to be a pool at the terrace, but it's actually a very small one (you can wet your feet but that's it). It's still a very nice rooftop restaurant though.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The decor
Cons: A bit hard to find, even with GPS.

Good 7.0
Pros: The room was really nice and spacious and a lot bigger than we thought it would be which made the stay more enjoyable. The breakfast was also pretty good that was included. There was a decent amount that you could get and the staff was very friendly al around and all through the stay.
Cons: Our AC wasn’t working so mostly had our fans on high majority of the stay. Hot water was a little bit of a tricky situation to get when showering as sometimes there was hot water for a short period time and most other times the water just didn’t come out the shower at all so we usually showered during early morning or early evenings as this seemed to be the best time but sometimes it still had to be mildly warm as the hot water would come and go. And then only other thing was there was one day that housekeeping never brought us new linen after coming to clean the room and front desk wasn’t sure either where the linen was so for 1 night we had to sleep without any linen or duvet covers or so.
Okay 4.0
Pros: Location was nice, greenery, near by center.
Cons: Room was not properly clean, missing hand towels, missing shampoo, missing soap, misding toilet paper, only cold water and additional taxes which was not included in price I paid for room.
Okay 5.0
Pros: Staff were extremely friendly and warm. The location is excellent and in a very safe place. Staff organised a tour guide for us within 30 mins and that was great. Restaurant had a good selection of food but not many drinks were in stock. Decor is charming and has a lovely feel to it.
Cons: We were given the wrong room and we booked the superior room. When we walked in, the room was way smaller than what we expected. I thought the images misled us and that was what the room was. To my surprise the next morning, I saw the other room’s door open and that was the room we paid for. It turns out there was no mosquito net so they put us in a smaller room without even telling us. I was really upset by this as I paid more to have the superior room. I spoke to the manager who apologised for this and gave us $20 to use in the restaurant or taxi to the airport. I would have liked them to be honest with us but also they knew we were coming since April. The hotel was not full at all. Water was cold in the room with very little hot water more like tepid. Room was cramped with unnecessary furniture and since it’s a boutique hotel, more attention could’ve been paid to make rooms look nicer I.e. fresh flowers in a small vase ( flowers are everywhere btw). Bed was too hard and mosquito nets need cleaning and to be replaced. Breakfast was average and not served nicely e.g. poached eggs looked sloppy and bread was a tad hard. The restaurant need to have some stock of drinks as hardly anything was available.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The breakfast was great and the staff were extremely helpful(Hammim and Rukia in particular). The bed was very comfortable
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Room style is unique, big and with all you need. Location is one of the best, in the Kelele Square is one of the only areas of the old lanes with full lightning.
Cons: Breakfast could be better
Okay 5.0
Pros: People were nice
Cons: Poor internet, bad Tv No ironing facility, Struggled initially with safety box Soap/ shampoo was hardly decent
Excellent 9.0
Cons: The room is very clean. This is a big plus for this hotel. I had 2 other accomodation in Stone Town (even expensive than this) but i would rate the cleanliness of this hotel's room the highest.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Very well located and clean. Polite, welcoming and attentive staff.
Cons: Breakfast needs to improve.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff was really great and we loved our beautiful room. Also the restaurant downstairs was fabulous. Avoid the chain hotels and stay in this charming and well situated hotel!
Mediocre 3.4
Pros: Nice building and location.
Cons: The room had a strong smell of mould. It was advertised as 33 m² but was not more than 11 m². There was barely room to get into the bed on either side of the single bed. The room was advertised as having a double bed. Since my night there, I have had a persistent chronic cough.

Pros: Everything it was so relaxing
Okay 5.0
Pros: Staff is very helpful
Cons: Location is far from stone town and hotel almost empty but room rates was still high . Staff is v slow on service min food order rakes 45 min to 1 hr
Good 7.0
Pros: Friendly staff great facilities .Ask for room to be set up for our 37 yr wedding Anniversary. Did great job
Cons: Property little bit run down .Needs to sort out a swimming beach , dont market it if it is not a swimming beach
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Very nice place for a couple stay, with nice big outdoor and open indoors areas, and a big pool. Can easily spend some romantic days there
Cons: The food and cocktails did not comply to the standard of the hotel, it should be of a higher quality for that place. It is not bad food just expected better. The breakfast was very boring. A bit far from shops and other restaurants.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We had a great stay here and the facilities were amazing. Great and friendly staff and always so welcoming. Highly recommended and the food was great as well. Thank you all!
Good 7.0
Pros: The food was awesome and the service from all the waiters and waitresses was top quality. Special credits to Goodluck for helping me explore zanziTaste👊🏾
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Cleanliness and friendliness of the staff.
Cons: Sometimes the food was not prepared well and the meat was not in good condition but I loved the seafood pasta and fresh juice .
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Room, Pool, Breakfast, professional and friendly staff and well-maintained gardens. We also appreciate the granting of our request for late checkout
Cons: The showers... both in the residence and the swimming pool... they were a bit of a mess and you may want to check that out. The TV menu is also too limited and boring
