Excellent 10.0
Pros: Absolutely everything! The fact that the manager was constantly around was fantastic. The staff, the accommodation, the facilities, the food, all exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended!
Excellent 9.3
Pros: The hotel is the most luxurious hotel in Zanzibar. It is very comfortable and welcoming. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food was very good, especially the breakfast which had a great variety. Choose this hotel if you want to visit Stone Town and Prison Island for a couple of days or if you are there for business.
Cons: The Spa could definitely be improved. The beach is an open beach so dont choose this hotel if you want a beach holiday.
Excellent 9.5
Pros: Breakfast was a fantastic spread! Many thanks to the general manager Nicholas for going out of his way to make us so comfortable. The staff was fabulous looking after us.
Excellent 9.7
Pros: Terrific hotel with wonderful pool, views, right on the beach, good food selection and quality, superb staff. A bit pricey for being right in stone town (and therefore not on the nicest beach), but a great place to stay for those who don't have time to get out to the further parts of the island
Excellent 8.3
Pros: It’s historical significance, architecture, cleanliness, upkeep, good air conditioning and comfortable bed. The room was spacious. The staff were responsive to our needs and recommended things to do in the areas and arranged for it.
Cons: Electricity outages were common during our stay but only lasted a minute at a time. Our room did not have hot water.
Okay 5.5
Pros: Location
Cons: We were promised a bottle of sparkling wine in our room on arrival as it was our honeymoon but this was not provided. No big deal. The service at the bar / restaurant was worst I have ever experienced in a 5 star hotel. 15 minutes between providing the menu and taking our drinks order. Red wine was being kept on ice so it was served ice cold. Our food took ages to arrive and when it did arrive it did not come with any of our side orders. They had forgotten. Side orders were provided 20 minutes after we finished our main meal. The restaurant was not busy. That evening we rang reception to ask about the sparkling wine and were told they would call us back. No response. We inquired on our way out to dinner and were met with a shrug of the shoulders. When we returned from dinner we asked again and they said they would send it to our room immediately. Unless we inquired again, the hotel staff would have continued to simply ignore us. 1 hour later and it still had not arrived to room. We had to call reception again. The next day we asked for some change at the bar as we only had large notes. We were told no. We asked at the reception and again were told no. This is meant to be a $500/night 5 star hotel but yet they could not handle such a simple request. We had a drink that night in the bar and ordered two glasses of red wine. 6 times the waiter returned to our table to confirm the order. Eventually he advised that the wine was not available so we ordered different wine. Again the red wine was served ice cold despite the hotels website boasting of their prestigious sommeliers. The robes in the room were torn and there was blood on the moaquito net around the bed. Despite all of the above, it is a beautiful hotel in an excellent location with spectacular views. Sadly the service is poor or maybe we simply weren't important enough guests as staff seemed to swarm to certain guests. It may be the most expensive hotel in stone town but definitely not the best.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Thank you for the birthday surprise cake. It was much appreciated.
Cons: Bed making needs improvement. There needs to be two sheets (linen) a fitted and flat sheet
Excellent 9.3
Pros: Amazing location, highly recommended if staying in stone town.
Excellent 8.5
Pros: The staff were very good and took a lot of time to get to know us and make us feel comfortable, especially our 8 year old granddaughter. The room was very well appointed (junior suite) with loads of storage space. The food was a nice mix of local and international style and fairly priced. Fabulous sunsets over the sea from our balcony.
Cons: TV remote and bathroom scales needed batteries and obviously hadn’t been checked before new guests arrived. TV choice very limited. Small problem with lighting that wouldn’t switch off too, though this was rectified when reported. So just a few small niggly things that shouldn’t really happen at the price level.
Excellent 9.3
Cons: The price is high for the rooms
Excellent 9.3
Pros: The hotel is beautiful. We had an ocean view and kept the door open all night and it was simply stunning. We woke to the local women doing bootcamp on the beach in their hijabs and it was delightful. The management were exceptional and introduced themselves individually to us in case we needed anything. When we wanted to send some of our belongings back to Australia they were so helpful. We loved the pool area and after 2 weeks on safari, we adored this hotel. It gave us the refreshment we needed to travel on to Egypt.
Cons: The bar staff were so slow! Over an hour to get a Margherita at the pool is ridiculous and beers always arrived warm. However a local from Dar gave us a great tip - ask for an ice bucket with your beer and all will be fine.

Good 6.3
Pros: The place in downtown Stontown and the decoration of the hotel (old house).
Cons: My room was just down the kitchen and i could hear the noise of the fridge or the AC engine and people walking. The window insulation are not good also (old one). There was no decoration in the bathroom all the stuff were on a chair.
Good 7.5
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful
Cons: They could include some more TV channels as the one they provided were not all working
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Much more than we expected! Wonderful architecture, tradicional and modern at the same time. Best location in Stone Town and a delicious breakfast. Staff extremely friendly!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Kisiwa House is centrally located but tucked away in quiet street. We booked the suite and it was perfect. Very spacious, nice interior design, very clean. Staff is super friendly, fast working and discreet. Airconditioning was perfect and also much needed because Stonetown is so hot during noon. Breakfast and dinner were delicious. Fast laundry service as well.
Cons: Towels could have been cleaner and less smelly and the shower in the suite needs to be fixed as after showering half of the bathroom floor is going to bet wet.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: It’s a beautiful old colonial house turned boutique hotel. If you like your hotels to have character and history, Kisiwa House is ideal. It’s beautifully charming and it’s located in the centre of stone town.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: A lovingly restored traditional Stone Town building converted into a fabulous boutique hotel. The building was just gorgeous! The room was beautiful and cosy and full of charm and character. The staff were all very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was excellent with a great choice and served on the amazing roof top.
Cons: The only negative.......I didn't have time to have the evening meal in the restaurant and to enjoy all the nooks and crannies and little seating spots hidden around.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Mwanajuma was a great host & the staff was equally impressive.
Cons: The beef bacon shortage.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The rooms are very clean, roomie, the staff were very welcoming and nice. The breakfast was great! Just near Kenyata road where you can buy things. Near the clothes market and beach
Cons: Without elevator and the hotel has high stairs
Excellent 9.5
Pros: Perfect stay! Thee most friendliest and helpful staff! Check in was simple and quick. Great location. Rooms were comfortable and very clean. Also had choice of both bath and shower. Would definitely recommend!!!
Good 6.3
Pros: Location of the hotel, roof terrace
Cons: additional charges on credit card to pay transportation

Pros: Amazing experience.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff was amazing and gracious. The gentleman who took our specific request ( don’t remember his name, it started with ‘M’ was so wonderful and helpful and Amina was also so gracious.
Cons: Nothing, we loved it.

Okay 5.0
Pros: The staff were very friendly and eager to help. However we were given some incorrecr information which completely derailed our plans for the final night.
Cons: The room we stayed in was poorly located and didn't catch any breeze and so was stiflingly hot and the a/c was glacial. A ceiling fan might be a possible option to ensure the rooms can stay cool. The bathroom was ridiculously small and in need of some upgrades to the fittings, particularly the taps and the showerhead which were encrusted with lime from the water. The sad little shower curtain was not a great look either. The breakfast has been the worst breakfast I have had at a supposedly 5* hotel. Both the hot and cold options were severely limited and underwhelming. The food was not particularly tasty either.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Serena Hotel was our first stop in Zanzibar on what has turned out to be one of the best trip of our lives. We spent two nights in stone town at the Serena Hotel. The hotel is really quite a heritage in stone town. Fantastically located, just a short walk from the old city. An excellent breakfast spread and really charming room which still has lots of classic touches that make it quite authentic. Tip: book a sun down dinner at the Emerson Spice which is a 10 min walk from the hotel! And book in advance to get the roof top/terrace!
Cons: There was a wedding on our last night and whilst it was quite entertaining to watch, I do wish the hotel had informed us as we could not go to bed until after 11pm when the wedding ended.
Excellent 9.3
Pros: The service was impeccable and staff was very attentive to my needs. The buffet breakfast in AM was excellent. Wide variety of local cuisine with traditional breakfast with eggs, bacon and lots of other choices to choose from. My room was well taken care of especially with the room cleaning in AM and turn down was nice too. The room is scented with jasmine, windows shutters are closed and the mosquito net is covered around the bed. Needless, to say, I slept well. The AC and WiFi was reliable and the view from my room was beautiful.
Cons: I did not like how close the ocean is to the hotel. There is hardly any beach real estate left. The beach is very busy with locals so it isn’t as quiet as say the other side of the island. I ate once in the evening and ordered shrimp. It was tasty but the evening menu needs to be revamped. It’s too limited. I did sample a variety of desserts and this really needs to be worked on. For example, the mousse was too powdery and lacked consistency. The coffee bar isn’t inviting. It’s very sparse with limited cake menu that isn’t appealing. I did not order any hot drinks.

Excellent 8.8
Pros: Fascinating building, good location, great food for breakfast
Cons: A bit noisy at night in the room looking at the street
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Lovely setting and very nice atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and helpful, too. And the coffee was great!
Good 6.8
Pros: Very comfortable beds, lovely roof terrace, quality food and drink served, excellent and warm staff, pleasant hustle and bustle of ground floor cafe.
Cons: The twin room we were given was really disappointing in terms of size and decor/finishing. Felt the website photos did not represent fairly what we stayed in. Not very characterful or well done given the amount of money paid.
Good 7.0
Pros: Nice rooftop for breakfast and drinks, nice coffee shop, delicious coffee! Definitely worth the stay only for that! Very helpful staff. The room was beautiful and the bed was confortable!
Cons: A little overpriced.
Excellent 9.5
Pros: It’s a very charming hotel, like an oasis in the chaos of Stone Town. The rooftop is amazing and I really enjoy the breakfast there(pancakes with local honey are sooo good!). The bath is outside the room but it’s big, super clean and believe me it’s not a problem! The staff is kind and I ask them to organize me the transfer from the airport to the hotel(i was very satisfied,it was night time and the driver stopped the car and walked to the hotel with us)and the Nakupenda tour(it was fantastic too!we were the first to arrive to the island...and this make the difference!!)
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The Coffee House is absolutely charming and unique. Do not miss the delicious breakfast on the rooftop and taking breaks during walks in the old town in the Cafe. Great food and coffees, the original interior as well as the friendly and energetic coffee house team make it a special experience.
Excellent 9.5
Pros: This wonderful, charming, little guesthouse in the middle of Stone Town is definitely worth a stay. A lovely interior, great coffee and a delicious breakfast promises a relaxing night and refreshing start in the day! Stepping out of the doors, you find yourself in the middle of the narrow streets of Stone Town and the Night Market as well as delightful restaurant are just some minutes by foot. Great stay, big thanks to the Zanzibar Coffee House Staff!
Cons: -
Good 7.5
Pros: 1. Staff very kind 2. The building is indeed historical. You do feel you are living a piece of history
Cons: 1. Noise. There was just so much noise it was difficult to sleep. First you are awaken by the mosque at 5am. Then you had a rooster greeting the day at 6am. Don’t stay here if you plan sleeping. 2. Water pressure in the bathrooms was very insufficient. 3. Location was ok, but if you are a single female you will likely not feel comfortable walking alone at night.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Unique little spot in a fabulous location. Felt like we were on the set of Aladdin.
Cons: Arrived late at night and they don’t have food available but they did direct us to a nearby hotel where we could get dinner.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything. Beautiful accommodation, very comfortable and walking distance to everything.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff is very sweet and helpfull. The hotel is beautiful and has an amazing decoration. The location was perfect. Loved the pancakes for breakfast.
Cons: Nothing.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Beautiful hotel, staff very friendly and good check in with welcome drink. Appreciated being told the history of the building. Room was cosy but expected in a period property. Loved the pretty turmeric bathtub and bath products in the room smell amazing! Close to night markets and 2 mins away from the ferry port. Ahsante!
Cons: We were told there would be a taxi booked to the airport for our early flight, there was no taxi ready for us and after 10 minutes of phone calls the man on the front desk led us out onto the street where he grabbed a random taxi for us. Also we weren't made aware on check in or check out that we had the rest of our balance to pay, were made aware once we had left via WhatsApp and some failed attempts at emailing the payment link.
Excellent 9.5
Pros: everyone was friendly and helpful...such a warm place i felt like being with family
Cons: Breakfast could have more options
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Antique arabic decoration and old genuine materials
Cons: Small bathroom with no shower.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: The breakfast was outstanding, the location was perfect. The history of the building Phenomenal
Cons: The rooms were a little bit small and the showers cumbersome to figure but I feel it's based on keeping the original identity of the building
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This is a restored old home that was furnished with antiques and other furnishings suited to its environment. We loved the atmosphere, pool, dinning and central location in Stone Town. This is not suitable for those with mobility issues as all rooms are on the second and third floors and stairs are steep and narrow. The roof terrace gives great views and is a peaceful place to relax.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Ambience and comfort
Cons: Location is not central in Stone Town. Close to ferry terminal and next door to mosque so can be noisy
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great value and well located in the historic center of Stone Town. Beautifully decorated rooms. Historic building- Princess Kholle’s residence in the mid 19th Century.
Excellent 9.5
Pros: Good breakfast Nice outing to Prison Island, easy to set up and included a packed lunch Nicely decorated rooms Air conditioning Roof terrace and pool
Cons: Pillows a bit hard

Excellent 8.8
Pros: A hotel building with character, well maintained and clean. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Cons: Busy area close to port but only around 15 minutes walk to town centre.
Excellent 9.7
Pros: The room was comfortable and a good size for me as a solo traveler. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and I was able to book several excursions through the reception desk. I also liked having the cafe available for meals, and the breakfast buffet upstairs.
Cons: The location was fine, but I would have liked to be slightly closer to the center of Stone Town.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: The hotel was helpful storing our bags, offering a nice breakfast and booking for us a van to take us up Island. They also have some interesting fair trade wooden items for sale. The staff were friendly, helpful and courteous. The rooftop terrace was very delightful for breakfast. Air conditioning was essential due to the humidity.
Cons: We had no concerns.
Excellent 9.5
Pros: Was in Zanzibar for Sauti za Busara and can really recommend this hotel. Breakfast is simple, but good, location was perfect for me (close to most things) and LOVED the airconditioning in the rooms. The staff was extremely helpful. Would like to give a big shoutout to Nourah. He helped me a lot when my phone got stolen and managed to get the police report for me, even after I had left Zanzibar! Haven't had such incredible staff in a hotel in a long time. Cannot express my gratitude enough, to him and all the other staff that helped me out! Would definitely go back if I was visiting Stone Town again.
Cons: Noisy traffic outside. But do think many other hotels will have the same problem, as that is just the case whenever you are staying in a city. Didn't bother me too much.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The Hotel had spacious rooms with beautiful decor. The rooftop deck was also great. The hotel is located near the port and you can explore the whole of Stone Town without having to grab a taxi. This was really a special place and I would recommend it to anyone.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: kind staff, clean and good location.
Excellent 9.3
Pros: The hotel is top-notch. As the hotel is run partly by Dutch people, it has a good feel for European values and standards. Also the food is excellent!
Cons: The only downside is the location near the port. It is convenient if you travel by ferry (you can walk it in 5 minutes), but it is not the best neighborhood in town. But don't let that put you off. I will still recommend this hotel!
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely breakfasts. Very clean. Convenient for ferry. Loved the locally made fragranced soaps, and room was very comfortable.
Cons: My room was a bit noisy from taxi office next to hotel playing same announcement over and over. Quiet at night though. Also not really central for enjoying best bits of Stone town - was about 15 minutes walk...but I like walking so not a problem for me.
Excellent 9.5
Pros: Very good breakfast and nice staff.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Great location!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Nora and the staff were very nice and welcoming. The breakfast was great! We did a prison island tour to see the giant turtles, and I HIGHLY recommend it! The giant turtles are honestly worth the trip to Zanzibar alien :)

Excellent 8.8
Pros: The breakfast was really good! Fresh fruit and lot of other things! The room was beautiful! I slept in in the room “Freddy Mercury” and it was really spaceful with a big bathroom!
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Historical architecture of hotel outside and inside. Lovely and quite large swimming pool. Very spacious family rooms including safe deposit, fridge and mosquito nets are perfect for a family. Stone town visit. Friendly personnel, good service.
Cons: Breakfast could be improved. Location is close to ferry which is nice if you come by boat but if you come by plane a more central location close to the restaurants and shops is probably more practical.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Very central location in the heart of Stone town. All important locations accessible on feet. Forodhani gardens very near to the hotel. Very nice view from the suites. Well arranged and reasonably priced excursions (except for safari blue which has nothing to do with the hotel but is not as good excursion as generally advertised and should be avoided). The best breakfast we had in Zanzibar.
Cons: Very noisy every night. Next to the hotel they give concerts every night. The bed mattress was hard.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The hotel is beautiful, the rooms comfortable and clean and the best is the staff! They are really helpful and friendly.
Excellent 9.5
Pros: The hotel is a museum. It's just awesome!
Cons: Nothing!
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Good location
Cons: Room had no chairs to sit on, veranda was so close to neighbourd, no privacy there.
Okay 4.5
Pros: No much. Over priced
Cons: No bar, no alcohol. I couldn’t have a beer. Mizingani a AND booking .com need to make this know to prospective customers. I booked what I thought was an upmarket fairly expensive hotel. No pub, breakfast room was shoddy. Not worth the money I paid.
Okay 5.5
Pros: Room
Cons: Food and service and customer care. Worse dinner and breakfast in África. How they set the food at breakfast is ridiculous.
Good 7.5
Pros: Location: incredibly well located. Facilities: restaurant looks over the ocean which is perfect of breakfast. This is a no alcohol hotel so my partner assumed that this is why it was very quiet at night which was nice. Pool was beautiful but there is not many spots to lounge. Decor was lovely. Food: brekky was typical but good.
Cons: Room: our toilet didn’t flush at all when we got there and after some assistance it was somewhat working. The bed was extremely squeaky and not very comfortable.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: The staff was friendly and very helpful. It’s a good quiet place near the ferry terminal.

Good 7.5
Pros: Staff were absolutely amazing. The hotel is an amazing Oasis in the hustle and bustle of a busy town. The room was very comfortable and well appointed with beautiful authentic furniture. The restaurant views are beautiful and service was outstanding.
Cons: We were surprised by the location - no road frontage and accessed down a few narrow alleys - so a bit difficult to find, but of course this can't be changed. Perhaps notice of the off-road location on the booking confirmation, better signage and make the access to the hotel more inviting and attractive?
Excellent 9.3
Pros: Location The best close to main attractions in Stone Town Delicious breakfast in room safe Good Wiifi Confortable room gym OKF friendly helpful staff Beautiful deco
Good 7.5
Pros: Nice rooms
Cons: No proper view which is not stated in site
Mediocre 3.8
Cons: Location of Hotel in too Inside.. We had to look for it after being 5Star Hotel.. They have to keep Big SIGN FOR GUIDANCE.. AND TOO SMALL ROOMS NOT WORTH OF AMOUNT CHARGED..
Excellent 9.5
Pros: The service in the restaurant was great, staff went out of their way. Great choices for dinner and high quality.
Cons: The service in the restaurant was great, however there was little choice and food was often like warm.
Excellent 9.3
Pros: Great breakfast. Food really fresh and plenty of options. Bed really comfortable, slept well in the aircon. Great location, easy to walk around Stone Town
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great location. Great staff. Clean. Comfortable. Good food. Great WiFi.
Excellent 9.5
Pros: Cooperative and friendly staff especially Mr Yahia
Excellent 9.5
Pros: Though small, the bed was very comfortable and it had lots of closet space. It was great to have a TV, an iron, blow dryer, soaps, lotion, etc. The artwork was also stunning
Cons: It was nice, but too small—even for one person
Good 7.4
Pros: Big clean comfortable beds, spacious room, great wifi, fridge in the room, excellent tv reception with lots of channels
Cons: We didn't have hot water the first day. They fixed it the second, but the water pressure wasn't very good- I don't have thick hair and it took awhile to rinse the shampoo out... It's set back a ways from road so you need help with your bags an the food in the restaurant is limited and prices are high. Better breakfast at the Serena

Excellent 8.3
Pros: Location Staff is polite and helpful Rooms were clean
Cons: Breakfast had limited options. Restaurant service is slow.
Excellent 9.5
Pros: Above and beyond staff. Helped setup stone town activities, with well informed very patient guides. Staff had good looking young men too
Cons: My first room was musty, that bathroom needed more ventilation, plus the furniture is older. But the staff moved us to a much larger airy room. No musty odor.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Beautiful old building in the middle of Stone Town. Our room was the size of a small apartment! Had an early departure for the airport and the staff generously gave us a pre-packed breakfast.
Excellent 9.3
Pros: A Palace full of carefully curated curiosities collected by the owners and put together to give you a glimpse of another era... Courtyard room beautiful and well equipped. Staff eager to please and very helpful, copious and never ending breakfast... Lovely secret almost forgotten roof terraces and well located near to port. Swimming pool looked lovely but didn't try, though nice to have breakfast next to.

Pros: the staff were very friendly. good views and area by the swimming pool was nice.
Cons: a bit pricy compared to other hotels in stone town
Good 7.5
Pros: Great location. Beautiful rooms.
Cons: Breakfast was not very good, the food was not my taste. We also stood a lot near cups waiting long minutes for workers to bring new ones, or refill coffee pots when empty.
Excellent 9.5
Pros: Excellent breakfast, confortable room and friendly staff. What else... the hotel is in the heart of Stonetown and at 30 min from the airport.
Cons: Everything was ok.
Excellent 9.1
Pros: This is a very unique and beautiful hotel...They take care of a lot of little details. I believe it was a little pricey - but it was also during the holiday season. Some nickel and diing- too much for taxis and so forth - ut a kind and attentive staff.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Beautiful historic hotel, good breakfast, very helpful staff, amazing view from the top : a pleasant place to discover in Stown town, even if you are not spleeping here.
Cons: The noise from the AC too old.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Perfect place
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything. Historic hotel in beautiful setting, lovely pool and beach.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Location and staff
Excellent 9.3
Pros: Location is central. Can go to Prison island from the beach behind by boat. Old style hotel but fairly well maintained. You will like it if you like antique stuff.
Excellent 9.3
Pros: Great location, lovely hotel and facilities.
Cons: A little disappointed that this is an alcohol free hotel.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: The hotel has plenty of historical character and occupies a prime location overlooking the sea. The views are beautfiul and you can walk straight out of the restarant onto the beach. Rooms and bathrooms are clean. Air conditioning is more than adequate. Staff are polite and helpful; when I wanted to change the table in my room, so that it was more comfortable to sit at and do some work, the manager organised the task immediately.
Cons: You are very much paying for the history and the location. If you should like gourmet food and elaborate facilities (for example, a spa or business centre), this isn't the place for you.
Good 6.3
Pros: Good internet and nice pool. We stayed in the Annex building and it is 300 meters away. Great breakfast with a nice view
Cons: The price is way to high for Tanzania. You get similar located hotels with similar service in Europe near beaches. At least 20-50% overpriced.
Excellent 9.3
Pros: Rahim, one of the staff, was EXTREMELY nice and helpful and friendly. He even gave me his personal number and asked to call him with any problems. He assisted with our transfer to Nungwi and even on the way back, even though we were not staying in his hotel any more, he offered to help with arranging the ride back. The hotel location is great, right on the beach front with a chill pool and great breakfast.
Cons: Nothing major comes to mind.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We enjoyed staying at Temba, staff was very helpfull and experieced something special of the culture. Special location!
Cons: The fact that there was no alchoholic drinks served at the hotel. In the time we were there, a few travellers complained about this fact. This Hotel cater for tourists and must commit with their needs.

Good 7.0
Pros: Excellent customer service
Cons: Slightly unkempt grounds away from the beach
Okay 5.8
Pros: Easy access for boat departure to Chumbe Island. Short distance to airport. Clean. Very good dinner menu.
Cons: The lady who brought me a welcome fruit plate and then said, " you have something for me?" The beach is a mangrove.... certainly not the typical glorious white sands of Zanzibar.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Good variety and plentiful.
Cons: The wifi was very average.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Actually I didn't stay long in hotel, came night and left early morning because of flight so I didn't have enogh time to take a tour in hotel but in overall these is my observation: - Specious Hotel, mix of traditional and modern buildings, near to the beach.
Cons: Full of Mosquitos in balcony that once you open window for seconds they enter the room. - You have to walk a distance to reach your room "which can be something nice if you are not tired or pregnant". - Beach was too crowded with locals "which can be also something nice" but for me seeking for relaxation.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Excellent location, close to the beach, fantastic views. Rooms were clean and comfortable
Cons: The reception area does not match the rooms. It is poorly constructed, walkways are not paved.
Good 7.0
Pros: Nice large room with airconditionning
Cons: Very bad internet connection and slimy bottom in the sea. I expected nice, white sand and clear water
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Location, staff personal attention and the food
Cons: Nothing was wrong, was perfect thanks
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Good location for Chumbe Island which was the main reason for staying. Novel hotel layout amongst the Mbweni House ruins.
Cons: Nothing to dislike although the room was on the slightly smaller side but with a great shower!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Manager is very accommodant and staff so NICE... GO THERE
Excellent 9.7
Pros: First the staff was amazing and so was the location. I liked being close to stone town and the airport but still having a secluded beach.
Cons: The bathrooms could use an update but rest of the room was great
Excellent 9.3
Pros: Well situated in shady gardens
Cons: The noise of the renovations was terrible
Good 7.0
Pros: Room is good, and clean
Cons: Dinner - had to return my order

Good 6.8
Pros: Interesting location, large room, helpful staff.
Cons: AC master control was centralized and turned off during the day making staying in the room extremely uncomfortable, even between breakfast and check-out at 11AM.
Excellent 9.3
Pros: The staff is absolutely lovely and caters to your every wish. The place is absolutely clean and well furnished, so you can relax and enjoy your stay.
Excellent 9.3
Pros: The staff alone would worth 10* score, they went out of their way to cater to every whim of ours, helped with parking, shopping, gave us advice on where to go and what to see. Also everyone was all-around deligthful, very nice people. The place and the owner were very accomodating, and these things made our stay a very good experience.
Cons: The only kind of negative thing is, that since the property is located at the edge of stone town, the streets are a bit noisy, and the filtered in to our room. We took care of it, by turning on the overhead fan to 50%, which generated a constant hum, that was easy to sleep to, even early in the evening, when people were moving around on the streets. Being this close to stown town center and beach was totally worth it though :)
Excellent 10.0
Pros: loved this authentic boutique hotel in the heart of old Zanzibar stone town

Excellent 9.5
Pros: Our room was fabulous and the location was central to all Stone Town had to offer. The building itself was historic and interesting.
Cons: The coffee and we were a little disappointed with the guide who we went with on the Spice Tour.
Excellent 9.5
Pros: The hotel has a gorgeous Zanzibari setting. The AC Was perfect and so was the decor and courtyard. The breakfast was average. But the mixed juice delicious. Staff were helpful and amazing, they packed me a to go because I had to leave early. The location was amazing, great boutique right in front as well on to the side of the hotel. Unfortunately I didn’t go to the rooftop! Very close to Forodhani gardens and main areas! I would stay here again.
Cons: The food wasn’t that great. Water smelled weird.
Good 6.3
Pros: The designs/ambiance
Cons: There was some type of animal droppings in the shower every day — clearly coming from the ceiling. The showers without doors seemed romantic at first but steamed up the room too much. The bed was rock hard and I didn’t sleep well.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Authentic and perfectly located awesome rooms and roof top.
Excellent 9.3
Pros: Amazing room! (Ask for Adnan) with sumptuous four poster bed and terrace right outside with sun loungers. I felt well looked after from the moment I arrived, including keeping the restaurant open a little later to enjoy a meal when I arrived. As a history buff, I loved reading about all the care that had gone into restoring the old building and the themes of the different rooms. It has lots of charm and character, a pleasant inside courtyard and a lovely view from the rooftop restaurant. Not normally one to rave about fruit, but the pineapples and mangoes at breakfast were to die for! Would definitely recommend!
Cons: Felt prices quoted for excursions and transfers were a little steep, but other than that, for the actual stay itself it was good value for money.
Good 7.0
Pros: Location was good. The antiques all over the room and the hotel.
Cons: Stairs. Steps in the room. Broken windows, some uncleaned shelves in the bathroom, water leaks. Amenities could have been better.
Excellent 9.3
Pros: The location was great - right in the heart of Stone Town. The hotel is absolutely beautiful as each room is uniquely decorated based on a specific them associated with Zanzibar. The breakfast is plentiful and fresh, with everything prepared to order
Cons: The WiFi was a bit patchy in places but other than that there wasn't really anything else to complain about!!
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Good location, amazing food, nice decor, staff is amazing!
Cons: We saw a mouse in the restaurant
Good 6.3
Pros: Comfortable bed.
Cons: Received an indecent phone call to my room at 10pm offering a „gentle massage“, then claiming my confirmed airport transfer for 12:30am was cancelled and I had to leave the hotel by 11:45pm. Went down to reception, where I realized it was the night receptionist, who called. First he denied it was him, then he gave in and started begging me not to report him. As my transfer was actually there before midnight, I had to comply and leave. Communicated with management, they agreed to reimburse me for the night. Never materialized. They claim that booking.com refused to transfer my money back, but why should they, not having anything to do with it. It‘s exactly 4 weeks after I checked out, today and still not resolved. Very slow and unsatisfying communication with the hotel, so I guess, I will not get my money back. Very bad ending to an otherwise nice vacation.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The room was huge with a giant balcony and the staff were super friendly. It was right in the center of stonetown so perfect for sightseeing. Will be back again for sure!
Cons: The air conditioning was fine but maybe with a couple of fans in the rooms it’d be better as the air couldn’t get through the mosquito nets

Excellent 9.5
Pros: The manager that put his heart out there for us will not get a better guy
Cons: the lighting around the pool
Excellent 10.0
Cons: Nice weather
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Breakfast
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 8.8
Pros: It was a nice place for a conference. A bit further from stone town kept the participants on site the whole day. Spacious lobby and restaurant that could accommodate coffe breaks and lunch for conference participants. Nice view of the beach.
Cons: The WiFi was not good. It kept logging out every 5 min. Not good for a conference with 65 Pelle.
Good 6.3
Pros: Nice setting, great swimming pool. Beds were comfortable allright.
Cons: Our room had a musty smell, like everything had been wet for days. Food isn't worth the money. A lot of people say staff is lazy but I think they are just not well trained.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Omary our waiter was outstanding..in fact all staff was amazing and made our stay worthwhile. The culture, the food and really the extramile. The pool area was clean, the rooms very clean.they taught us the local swahili language.I will definately be visiting soon.
Good 6.3
Pros: We loved the pool and the view! Food was very nice, we tried the seafood restaurant! Friendly and accomodating staff.
Cons: The bathrooms could use a renovation. Also the fact that groups of younger people not staying at the hotel come to the pool to party on weekends (shouting and messing around until late) was uncomfortable for guests trying to have dinner or relax.
Good 7.5
Pros: Breakfast was good, selection of pastries and hot meals. Location was good, 15 min from Stone town. Rooms are huge. There is a nice pool to relax
Cons: This resort has NO BEACH. So don't get confused when reading Beach resort. The sea is just behind the resort, but no beach
Okay 4.5
Pros: Location
Cons: Nothing. The management was poor. I had paid online for the entire stay including taxes but still they charged me for additional taxes. They said Airport shuttle was free when I booked but they wanted to charge me for that. I was lecturing at a workshop in the same hotel. Breakfast was delayed and all the coffee breaks and lunch breaks were delayed. The room was stuffy and the AC was not effective. Despite complaining continually, the problem was solved only on the 3 day and that too not satisfactorily. There was no manager to come and check the problem.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Very attentive and friendly staff. Large swimming pool and management were kind to allow me to briefly swim outside of the daily normal hours of 10am-6pm. Comfy mattress, reasonable wifi, good food and decent breakfast choice. Well located for quick access to the airport.
Cons: Skimmed milk would have been nice as a breakfast choice. The mosquito nets also don't adequately provide protection from the inevitable mosquitoes as the bed frame leaves unavoidable gaps between the bed and the netting.

Pros: The place, the staff and the bar was very good.
Cons: The beach is very crowded with locals, and access to it is restricted.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: We stayed in this hotel for three days. The room was kept clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast served in the restaurant was also good. For any one staying in this hotel, don`t miss the walk on the beach.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Nice place for the money.
Cons: Too much rush of the waiters while eating.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Comfortable, clean rooms, air conditioning, amazing views.
Good 7.5
Pros: privancy and silence
Cons: they phone me and ask to check out at 10am instead of 12pm shown in the booking.com
Okay 4.5
Pros: The breakfast is tasty, fresh. Stuff is realy kind
Cons: Hotel looks much older in real than on the booking pictures. In the night you can hear all sounds from outside, every step, every voice. There is not much dishes you can choose in restaurant
Good 6.8
Pros: The hotel setting really is stunning, with the most amazing views and buildings. If they could put an onsite shop, sort out the food and update their advertisement to be more realistic it could be one of the best in stone town.
Cons: There isn't a private beach as advertised, you can walk down to the public beech but you could be the only tourist so it can be a little overwhelming. we tried to eat at the the restaurant but they said the ovens weren't working so we could only have "chipatti, chicken chipatti or tuna sandwich". Upon check on we had to wait 20 minutes for them to confirm we'd paid via booking.com in advance, even though we had all the paperwork. No shop on site and about $10 each way to stone town. Also we were woken both nights by other guests shouting around midnight.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Location
Cons: Nothing
Okay 5.5
Pros: The location was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful
Cons: The rooms need a complete refurbishment, bed was noisy, telephone to reception not working and they still use blankets. Bathroom is outdated . The rates are too high for the service offered
