We stayed for one night in Stone Town and chose Tembo Hotel for the location, proximity to the ferry, and their waterfront breakfast that was included. We stayed in the Annex building, which we knew of ahead of time, but it wasn't a problem for us. You are very close to the shops and waterfront. The five of us fit comfortably in a large room with three king size beds and one bathroom. Breakfast was great and had a lot of variety. Would gladly stay again.

Cleanliness
They only had shampoo and soap in the bathrooms, the hotel room was not in the hotel but in some dingy ally no where close to the ocean as stipulated on bookings.com, the TV quality was terrible you can’t watch anything on it, on checking out i had to walk with my bags through the alleyways to the “hotel” , which wasn’t close. By the time i got there i was sweaty and felt like i needed another shower!

the spacious rooms, ambience. excellent and friendly service. from the gm, receptionists when we arrived they were very welcoming and everyday they made sure they took our opinion. would vote for them any day anytime.
They need to up grade the bedding's. The bed sheets were worn out but not torn at all.

Fabulous old colonial hotel. Superb location on the cusp of all the tourist spots in Stonetown. Located on the beach front, so it was lovely to sit having breakfast and watch all the locals and boats pass by. Breakfast buffet had a good choice. The staff are all extremely accommodating. We had to leave at 3am to get to the airport and they provided us with a breakfast box to take with as we were missing breakfast.

“Location was in stone town- history.”
“Loved its location and it is entrenched in restored pictorial history round the corner form Freddie Mercury home. All staff fantastic and help with dau hire and other access to events. Sunset gathers many people about to enjoy the magnificent sunsets. The pool is fabulous and the tiles in all toilet fantastic Arabic Zanzibarian. Grt fresh local fruit juices - hibiscus, tamarind, coconut. Best breakfast variety wonderful”

“Amazing breakfast patio views and pool views. The location is quite central and it's easy to walk everywhere. Hotel staff is really friendly and helpful. They get you taxis to go around the city , boat to prison island or more from the hotel. Amazing balcony for sunset drinks. Luggage storage.”
“Wonderful position, nice building, very helpful staff. It is very nice to sit at dusk and see the local people playing on the sand, swimming in the sea, and strolling along the beach... On the last day we had an evening flight, and on the return from an excursion the staff let us still use the swimming pool and have a shower, that was very nice.”
