Very welcoming to us
Our stay in Barrio Amsterdam was wonderful! We stayed for 9 days and are very happy! The hosts are delightful, easy going and welcoming, they easily and happily accommodated our 2 special requests. We arrived very early, much earlier than the standard check-in time, and needed rest. They gave us a temporary room for half a day, so we could recover. We also needed brown rice cooked for us, and Roel did this too. The Barrio is located very close to Amsterdam Central, the main train and bus station, making it easy to get to and also easy to take day trips to other towns. At the same time the little street Droogbak is quiet and nice, BnB is close to many very nice restaurants and we could walk to all museums we wanted to visit. Our room was small, like many rooms in Europe, clean and cheerfully decorated. The bathroom was state of the art, the water pressure great. The rooms have AC, rare in Europe, and we survived 100 degrees F heat wave. Lots of outlets for our electronics. Roel cooks breakfast every morning and delivers it on a tray to your room! Cooked breakfast - amazing! We had pancakes, omelettes, quiche, eggs - all very tasty! Thank you, Roel and Ruth! We loved staying with you, will try to stay in Barrio again if/when we come to Amsterdam and will recommend Barrio to anyone who asks!
Our room was a little small, like many rooms in Europe, but not the smallest - we had a tighter one in Paris. It would be nicer to be able to get to bed from both sides, instead of climbing on from the foot of the bed. But you cannot have everything!
The location was perfect,in a quite street, just a few minutes walk from central station. My room on the third floor was very big with a high ceiling and huge Dutch windows with a lot of light. There was a cofee machine in the room. The breakfast was very tasty and was served in the room. You can rent a bike from a shop just around the corner to explore the city. The hosts were so friendly, kind and charming. I was offered a cold beer upon arrival, which was very refreshing. I would certainly stay there again when I revisit Amsterdam.
There are a lot of narrow steps to get into your room, but it is very common in Amsterdam houses. Another way to burn all the calories from excessive beer consumption...
Good comfy bed, delicious breakfast in the morning.
Everything was perfect, very kind and happy to help
