It was very convenient to all the museums, entertainment and shopping. Lots of restaurants and eating establishments close by.

The best thing about this hotel was the location, which was excellent.
My only criticism would be the size of the rooms.

the hotel is below fair standarard compare to the money i have paid hence i could not see much to say that it is good (one example I would like to bring here that I reserve smoking room but when I checked in i could not find it avaliable!!!)

Strategic location in the heart of Amsterdam. Friendly and helpful front desk staff.
Front rooms overlooking the main street are quite noisy, especially at night. This could be largely overcome by double-glazing the glass in the windows/doors.

The location is ideal if you want to be right on Dam square and close to the main shopping area. The bathroom was modern and smart, if not very small. If I had been travelling with a companion however, the glass door would have been a problem.
The room was small, and whilst supposedly a non-smoking room, still had the smell of stale smoke. I booked all non-smoking rooms for the group I was travelling with, but some had smoking rooms. The rooms that faced onto the main street were very noisy with the trams directly outside. I didn't think the hotel was good value for money, although speaking to people who had stayed in other hotels for the same price, it sounds like it was the better of a bad bunch! It is easy to get around in Amsterdam so I would recommend looking for a smaller boutique-type hotel that may be slightly further to walk, but gives a much better standard for your money.
