The staff was nice and kind and the location was pretty good.
The bed were not comfortable and the rooms were so small that you were practically a few inches from everyone else.
We reserved 10 beds for one night. The price per person was 87 Euro including taxes. At the arrival the price went down and it was 40 euro per person. When we asked for refund or any fair customer service, the reception denied.
The hostel is exactly what you pay for, and I enjoyed my time there. The staff were so lovely and accommodating, after realising I bought the wrong phone charger the lady behind the reception said “Hey it happens” and exchanged it for free. The rooms aren’t fancy but are what you pay for, and the shower facilities I used were actually quite impressive (although small) 24hr smoking room with a TV and chargers, €1 coffees, vending machines and reasonably priced supplies and snacks.
It was very cramped, but I guess that’s Amsterdam buildings. There were no lamps in the room, so if someone was asleep you had no choice but to put on the big light and inevitably disturb them.
Staff so friendly and helpful, it’s managed well, safe and clean :-)
Location was ideal, staff were knowledgeable. Super close to Anne Frank house and you can leave your baggage there for free before you check in and after you check out. They also have these discount voucher cards for local businesses which are fantastic!
The stairs are super steep, but that's just Amsterdam for you. Also, there are mice everywhere in Amsterdam including inside, so just be warned and follow their instructions: no food in the rooms, please!
