Pros: Perfect location! Quite and not so far from the beach!
Cons: Owner is the most kind guy that i ever meet in Sri Lanka!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our host was a real gem. He provided us with hot water every morning and snacks here and there (we did not order breakfast) because he is just amazing like that. His team is also very lovely, always trying to keep everything clean and always smiling. We would 100% recommend staying there! Although get the AC room because it gets very hot and keeping the door open when it gets dark just brings many mosquitoes in your room :-)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place was sparkling clean and the AC was working perfectly. In front of the room there is a little sitting area with a hammock. The owner Faisal helped us with organizing surf lessons and tuk tuk tours. We really enjoyed our stay and even stayed longer than originally planned. In our booking the breakfast was not included, but it was very affordable and tasty.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a great stay! The host was a really great guy, not only nice but you can have a real conversation and laugh with him. He understands humour and always have a smile on his face, it makes me smile all the time. He is a master in making breakfast, especially the hummus falafel I really loved. He is not scared to try new things to improve his breakfast that people will love! If you want to do a safari I recommend to arranged it by this host. He arrange you the best seats in the jeep (front seats) with a nice discount. The rooms are very clean and the possibility that insects enter the rooms is almost zero %. He closed every hole, because he knows that a lot of people hate insects or other animals. + GREAT INTERNET
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice owner, very nice atmosphere! Very early checkout possible.
Cons: Everything was totally fine!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I was in Sri Lanka for five and a half weeks and saw most of the country. Bavaria Resort was the best accommodation I have had during the whole trip. The room was the cleanest and most comfortable I have had during my stay. It was silent but still very close to the beach and main street. The biggest plus about the space is the owner and staff working there. Faisal was the nicest host I have met in Sri Lanka. He also was always there to help and very easygoing without being in your face constantly. After spending some time in the country and meeting different hosts I can also say that Faisal was the most honest of them all. If you have a question be assured that you get an honest answer. Rather than giving you and advice good for his business he would give you a tip good for you. This I have experienced rarely while travelling the country. It was incredibly helpful, nice, and unselfish. I would recommend the place 100% and will come back when in Arugam. :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly host! The Sri Lankan breakfast was very tasty and more than enough.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We have stayed at 3 different places in Arugam Bay and this was the best. Clean, comfortable rooms with instant hot water and new AC units. Hammocks to relax in. Faizel the owner is extraordinarily helpful and friendly. Breakfast is about 350 rupees and is pretty good. His special dinner of hummus, falafel and salad is amazing, the best we’ve had. It is down a side street but only a few minutes until you’re in the action or the water while being very peaceful. Couldn’t recommend enough.
Cons: No filtered water dispenser to refill bottles.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was just great. The owner is super nice, the place is beautiful and clean, they can offer you all kind of safaris and activities... a very good place to stay in Arugam Bay.
Cons: The only complain would be that the bed is not very comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and the owner

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We fell in love with this place. We first booked another hotel in Arugam Bay that was very dissapoiting and we were so lucky that the spice trail still had a room left. The staff is amazing: super friendly and warm. The rooms are so much more than you could wish for: spacious, clean, stylish! You can enjoy the cleanest pool of Sri Lanka and enjoy the best breakfast we have had. A big thank you to all of you for making our last days in Sri Lanka so memorable. Give a big hug to Mini from us! Thanks friends, Yasha and Thijs
Cons: Not a thing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely property with amazing food and very friendly, helpful staff.
Cons: Just a bit noisy until late evening with music from next door. Otherwise perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the service and the place was incredible, exceeded our expectations.
Cons: Nothing, everything was perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host actually let us do an early check-in and they tried to help us in any way they could. Really really appreciate their friendly staff and excellent service.
7.1 Good
Pros: Good location, nice swimming pool
Cons: Food fresh juice was not fresh, staff misunderstood the order and bring something else without accepting the mistake, we had room Nr. 9 and over the fence was lauded music every day, impossible to sleep till 1 am.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was excellent. Beautiful large rooms. The house keeping was impeccable. The turn down service of evening was a lovely extra. Big bathrooms. We loved The bean bags in the room so much we contacted the local Sri Lankan company and bought 2 to take home. The bed was super comfortable, nice linen and towels. Very helpful having pool and beach towels provided. Pool and grounds were the best I’ve experienced-immaculately clean and maintained. Staff were super helpful and friendly. We loved this location so much we extended our stay from 5 nights to 12.
Cons: These are all minor complaints. None of what you read below really matters because this place is amazing. You’ll pay a premium price to stay here, but you won’t regret it. The shower was not very good (although it was super big) - no water pressure and not always very warm. The door lock to room 7 was a little hard to unlock, it needed some maintenance, but, we didn’t report it. Had we reported it, and we will on checkout, I’m positive there would have been a team of people fixing the problem. Room 7 and all rooms on that side of the property sit on the boundary to Hideaway resort which has music until late. It didn’t bother us, we wore earplugs and were exhausted from the days outings. Although the food is nice I found the breakfast wasn’t big enough for me. I am a big eater though. It’s probably adequate for most. It’s quite expensive to eat here and portions on the small size. Allow extra time for breakfast, it can sometimes take quite a while to come out.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great. Amazing food and room. Would definitely stay here again.
Cons: Only small issue was we were overcharged and only noticed a few days after we’d left.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms, pool and communal areas were kept meticulously clean. Enormous room. Great breakfast.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We loved the very large rooms, the inviting pool and the friendly staff. We were travelling in a group of 8 so booked 4 rooms. We found the hotel to be very accomodating and helpful. The staff were great and it was nice to meet the owner who was very informative on the local area and their passion to provide guests an eco friendly experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wish we could have spent another couple of nights. The coffee shop and bar as you enter the property were excellent. A quiet relaxing haven in Arugam Bay. Thank you for a great stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. The room or let's better call it "your own house with private garden". The staff is super friendly, the pool is an oasis, it so so beautifully set up. Super clean (done twice a day). Spotless WiFi. We needed to work quit a bit from here and all went fine. Perfect location. We were a little afraid that it wasn't right at the beach, but the beach is not a big strip of beach so you can't really lay there (except at Mambo's). We initially booked 5 night and decided right after the first night to add another 4. Miss this beautiful place already.
Cons: Nothing. It was absolutely PERFECT

Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: An excellent hostel atmosphere, one of the most popular in Arugam Bay. Good party vibes, and also lots of surfers. Very welcoming host and excellent staff.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: -comfy beds -it was clean -hammocks and a area to sit altogether -good proper coffee -well organised -location is great
Cons: I know it probably just was not possible to do it differently but the AC is positioned right above one of the upper beds and I was freezing so much as the AC gets regulated external. If you're sensitive make sure to request a lower bed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The professional stuff, the management and the cleanes of the hostel
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners of the hostel are the most helpful and amazing people I have met so far in Sri Lanka and they have the best burgers in Arugam bay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location very social vibe. Great for solo travelers
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great vibe. Great people. Very social. Free pizza if you buy a beer
7.5 Good
Pros: Great for the location. Tidy and comfortable rooms with big lockers. Great green tea! Very social environment so great if you want to meet people and party. common are is dominated by drinking games and card games on the party nights so if you want to get in on that it's the place for you. Staff were all helpful with my requests.
Cons: the downside is the internet's patchy and its strictly forbidden to have non-guests come in have a chat or drink in the common area which I understand but I felt uncomfortable seeing people being told off angrily for coming in to talk with friends.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great hostel with good, clean facilities and friendly staff. Good vibe, lots of friendly travellers!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: I ended up staying here for one week and I really enjoyed my stay. The beach is close (Main Point and Baby Point) and the hostel in on the main street so everything you need is close by. Coffee and western breakfast is great. So if you suddenly crave for cheese and ham toast or fried runny eggs this is your place. Also the lockers are really big to keep your belongings. It can hold like couple big suitcases

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff is nice, always available and willing to help. They take care of everything from helping with the lagade to cleaning our room everytime we needed. The room was big and clean, with AC, fans, always had warm water in the shower and the bad was big and comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable bes, lovely staff, cleaniness
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Sea Rock is perfect to stay in Arugam Bay: it's closed to the beach and to the surf spot Main Point. The ubication is good. The staff is friendly and helpful....we were one week in Sea Rock, and was very good experience. The rooms are big and clean. Highly recommended!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very welcoming, so helpful with everything, luggage, information, booking taxi or tuk tuk, they were friendly and kind, spoke great English, made sure we were alright our entire stay. They were perfect :) The location is great, few meters away from the beach and also from the road. At night you can hear the peaceful ocean. The hotel is very clean, the rooms are big, the bathroom is pretty and spacious, the double bed is wide and comfortable. The hotel offers very nice common spaces, some couches on the roof top to chill and relax. The occidental breakfast is very good as well.
Cons: The only negative point is maybe that the single bed was a little bit hard. But nothing too bad.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff are so friendly and kind, help in every way they can to make your time in Arugam Bay amazing. The hotel is in a great location, close to the beach and the main drag, and when it's very hot outside the hotel area stays cool to hang in. I will be recommendong friends to come and when I come back i'll be staying here again
7.0 Good
Cons: Cleanness and Bathroom
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I stayed 10 days and the owner was always present and his staff were polite and extremely helpful. Meals available whenever you want, big size rooms with clean bathrooms, every room has its own balcony/patio that fronts the shared and very shady courtyard. Staff will also hook you up with anything you need including tuk tuk driver for local trips.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff, clean room and AC worked really well. Just slightly back from the beach so literally 30 second walk. The property is pushed back from the main toad so it’s also quiet at night which is great.
Cons: Can’t think of anything!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff, 2 parking spots, manager even knocked our door to ask us to move the car to first spot so we dont end up blocked in the morning surf sesh :)
Cons: Little smell of something not very pleasant, but it is going away after few mins of fan/ac
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location- right by the beach and plenty of good restaurants nearby too. The hotel also had hot water and wifi which is good
Cons: For the price we paid per room usually the quality of the room/ facilities available are slightly better.

Pros: Great location. Calm and quite. Very relaxing stay and really enjoyed. It's right on the beach and they've got a nice outdoor pool too. The staff was extremely helpful and nice. Value for money. Would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a get-away from city-madness.
Cons: would be nice if we could make tea/coffee in the room although they served really nice coffee at their "Kusini" (restaurant).
8.8 Excellent
Pros: View
Cons: They need a lock for washroom from inside the room, as felt no secure

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet part of arugam bay nice swimming pool quiet beach relax atmosphere the personel they are all Super!
Cons: Dinner food is ok but not special
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Rooms were very clean and location was perfect !
Cons: Would be great to see the implementation of either stainless steel straws or paper straws :) A little bit more attention to customer needs especially in the restaurant area would make this place great.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable beds clean rooms and wash rooms Convenient location Beautiful view of the beach Next to the beach very silent superb for relaxatione.
6.7 Good
Pros: Location is very good for surfing whiskey point. Rooms are basic but good. Fresh bottle of water every day.
Cons: The bathroom was not maintained well and not very clean. The room was ok. What you pay for here is not explicitly the room but the surrounding, e.g. the garden, the pool and so on. But the pool is not very big, just for cooling down a little. The prices in the restaurant are good. Bring earplugs for the neighbor's party in Friday.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The restaurant here was good and cheap
Cons: We had booked garden view room but was surprised to find that this meant we weren't staying on the main property and were instead 50meters down the road, I had a reef cut and could barely walk at the time so this was really annoying, the place was empty and if we had of been offered a room at the hotel we would of taken it even if it meant paying more. So don't get caught out like us, garden veiw means at another accommodation site
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location of the hotel is fantastic. Calm and quite place facing to Whisky bay. Main restaurant facing to the beach with beautiful view of the swimming pool. Good friendly and helpful staff. Good place to have a quality time with family and friends. Villa type clean room and has a large well maintained bathroom.
Cons: There are no rooms directly facing to the beach. Portion size of the lunch is bit small. No water kettle, glasses, cups and facility to make tea inside rooms.

Pros: Great location, Great staff Great restaurant and ambience
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We very much enjoyed our stay here. It was a peaceful location despite being across the road from the beach. Perfect location particularly for swimmers and beginner surfers as it is by Baby Point. Supermarket and local food shops a couple of minutes away. Manager was extremely helpful and approachable. Your room can be cleaned mid-stay if you wish. Surf shop was great value (lessons 2500 rupees / £12.50 and half day board hire 500 rupees / £2.50). I would very much recommend a lesson on your first day to be able to make use of the great hire prices for the rest of your stay! Great place for kids. Rooms were a good size and clean, with outside seating and hammocks. Very shady so cool (relatively!) in the day.
7.5 Good
Pros: Great location. Good staff. Overall good vibe.
Cons: A few things broken. Tap, fan switch. No way to block out noise as Windows had air vents. It's a noisy spot but great location so a trade off. None of this ruined our trip.
7.5 Good
Pros: Amazing location, staff were super friendly and took us to different surf spots on their tuk tuk and gave us lots of tips and advice. Food also was good. Will stay here again next year.
7.1 Good
Pros: The location was excellent and the staff were extremely attentive and accommodating to assisting in any way possible, despite as above some of the problems requiring fixing from external people. Sudu in the surf shop was 100%.. he had my board ready every single morning and even helped me to pack it away! It was sad that for over a week I was there I was unable to surf with him as he does not get a single day off! But what an asset to this accommodation. The food was delicious and the boys behind the bar great at making cocktails. :)
Cons: The shower in the room had no pressure at all and most of the shower holes were blocked over on the shower head. I mentioned it in passing to the amazing guy Sudu in the surf shop who advised me to notify the management to which i did. They did their best to rectify the problem in a timely manner however it took a further 3 days to get the problem fixed. Eventually at 530pm on a Saturday evening the plumber arrived to change the shower head. This was somewhat an inconvenience however at least i was no longer required to use the outdoor shower. I compained at check out to manager Sam that due to having no workable shower for the majority of my stay that i should be entitled to some discount. Originally he offered me 500 Lkr discount but changed it to 2600 Lkr discount which still is not acceptable given the shower situation. The drain was also filthy in the shower full of grime and hair. Minor issue however still noticeable. The curtain in the room fell down 5 mins after checking in. I notifued staff member Lahero who originally settled me in my room. He did fix it and told me to just keep it pulled across with the chair leaning up against it. A temporary fix for an easily repairable problem. (With the best view in Arugam bay hlbehind the closed curtain).
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location, beach opposite. Lovely helpful staff who made us feel very welcome. Had a great few days here. The manager booked really great onward transfer for us. Food was great.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I ended up staying here for 2 weeks so that should say how I enjoyed Rupas. Staff were lovely, food was good although I didn’t realise a pot of tea or coffee was only slightly more than one tiny cup until too late ! All in all a fabulous place to stay. Bed comfortable, WiFi worked in the dining area although it probably worked in bedrooms nearer there. Perfectly positioned near the beach 3 minutes walk along it to Baby Point.
7.9 Good
Pros: This is a very handy place to stay, great location beachfront on the bay, good food in the restaurant & surfshop on the premises, so very handy if your not travelling with a board. Staff are helpful & friendly
Cons: All good here but I would recommend paying your restaurant bill daily don’t let it get too big over a few days to a week. As bookkeeping system between restaurant & front desk can get a bit confused
4.6 Okay
Pros: The manager accommodated us when we had arrived on the wrong day
Cons: The room smelt of sweat, the sheets were stained, the fan barely worked, the room wasn't secure for our belongings, it was very noisy at night and the 'shower' was a trickle of water running down the wall that you had to catch in your hands to splash yourself. It was easier to shower in the sink...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about it
Cons: No complaints

6.7 Good
Pros: Lovely hotel but not a sole there!
Cons: Staff are too attentive always coming over as they have no other customers to serve
7.0 Good
Pros: clean and tidy. walking distance to all amenities. provided packed breakfasts for days leaving early for surf trips/safari etc
Cons: every thursday they hold a pool party - from 2pm until 9pm. great money making venture for hotel but leaves residents having to leave pool and even hotel as unable to eat in restaurant on a thursday - very annoying as had booked half board. (were offered room service but as family of four - did not fancy eating in our room) another down side of this pool party is pool not clean in days following the party - so cloudy you could not see the bottom - don't know whether they had problem with filter on top of this but even by the tuesday the pool was still struggling - i would not want young children to swim in it. gym - no water mats or towels provided and air-conditioning not left on so unless you go down and set it a good hour before wanting to use gym, you are in an oven. restaurant staff hover over you while you are eating - feel bit like in gold fish bowl. food very good although tendency to lean towards more western food. however accommodated us well when requested traditional sri lankan curry on our final night. poor wifi connection - cut out after 2-10 minutes useage
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is good and the location is very convenient for the purpose to travel.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Not a bad place to stay. The location was near the beach without being on the beach. The pool was nice. I would say above average accommodations, but it wasn't spectacular.
Cons: We didn't eat breakfast there was we thought it was quite expensive. Also, a hair dryer was advertised and not present in the room. When we called and asked for one, it was never delivered.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice and clean hotel. The staff was super attentive, helpful and friendly. Especially Lal, Jana and the strong cleaning lady who is also helpful with luggage (don’t remember her name). The hotel is nice, the pool clean and the staff very friendly. We hope to come back one day.

Pros: clean place and helpful staff
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room was extremely vast, like an appartment. All was very clean. Bathroom great! Very comfortable. Perfectly located: quiet and in the center of the town.
Cons: No breakfast included. Air conditioning a bit noisy. Having fruits in the room would be great. Swimming pool just OK.

9.1 Excellent
Pros: Yeah breakfast is good
Cons: Location and staff is really nice.. the owner is flexible. I can recommend room than cabanas
4.2 Okay
Pros: Cute looking cabin.
Cons: Highly over-priced. Miles away from the swimable part of the beach, no hot showers, no air-con and no internet access anywhere near our room (despite advertising there was internet). We were in the FAMILY cabin where the garden had loads of cactus plants & there were cactuses near the entrance gate too - very dangerous with kids! My young son stood on a thorn walking in the garden. Have to lock bathroom door because animals can easily get into bathroom & ate our bar of soap (had tiny bite marks in it).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is beautiful with its little private beach garden and all the cabanas. The cabanas are nice with an open air bathroom. The breakfast is so delicious! Go for the pancakes :) it’s a nice little walk to where everything is going on (5-10 minutes) and very quiet in the hotel itself (except the barking dogs during the night). We would definitely come back here!
5.4 Okay
Pros: The beach and the private garden with the sunloungers were nice
Cons: The cottage rooms were little huts and felt more like a tent, it was very loud in the early morning, the bathroom was outside and there was no hot water. The mosquito net and the towels had wholes and the mattress were worn down. A renovation would be good.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I had a cabana close to the beach in the rainbow village. I loved it, because of the private small garden, the hammock outside and the quiet surrounding. I enjoyed the vegan coconut ice cream and the clean and nicely made garden. You can borrow books in multiple languages at the reception. Just some minutes walk to restaurants and about 10 min walk to an Ayurvedic clinic where I enjoyed excellent treatment for a good price.
Cons: Food was very western for my taste and not typically sri lankan.. especially the rice and curry.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable room. Good breakfast. Located right on the beach.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Charming characterful rooms overlooking sandy garden and if you have the right sight line, the beach, basic but in a funky thoughtful way. Staff were really helpful and friendly. It was a a fantastic place to chill, up the quieter end of Aragun bay.
Cons: Perhaps a bit more attention to cleanliness in the rooms would be a good idea, little things like dirty tea spoons were minor irritants/showers were tepidish/restaurant was a bit more expensive than it should have been/but overall these were minor
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location (a little removed from the nightly beach parties) and beautiful beach garden to sit in during the day and at night.
Cons: The rooms were very basic and with no AC, but of course it was a very cheap room, and it was great value for what we paid!
7.1 Good
Pros: Lovely quiet place with a view of the garden and ocean beyond, breakfast was good, staff were all friendly and helpful.
Cons: We were charged extra for an additional bed, which was a shock since we booked room for three. Management said that it was a double room but could occupy three people, which should have been specified from the beginning since they knew there were three of us. I book all my travels through booking.com and this is the first time it has happened. Certain staff was asking us daily to do Pottuvil lagoon tours through them, it got to a point where it became a nuisance.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice setting on beach, friendly helpful staff, good value for money. Western food excellent especially breakfast.
Cons: No bar or alcohol as advertised! Nowhere to hang clothes in bedroom. Rice and curry disappointing.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: We loved the serenity of this place - tucked away behind the main street so no noise, (except for the peacocks and the early morning prayers). The food was fabulous as they have an amazing chef (Dinesh). Karim was absolutely fantastic and showed around the whole area in his tuk tuk, took us up mountains and showed us crocodiles and elephants! The accomodation was really well presented, and very clean. AirCon was brilliant. The location and surrounding areas are stunning, and great for wildlife, adventure, relaxation and exploration of local culture.
Cons: Would have been perfect if it had a pool but we understand that might be coming at some point. We had a day trip to a nearby hotel on the beach with a pool so it wasn't a problem really.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The perfect spot for a chilled stay at Arugam Bay. Although it’s not directly on the beach, Elephant Road provides the ideal surfers’ hangout set back from the noise of the main road. We loved sitting and having a drink and watching the wildlife (including resident peacocks) from the dining room/hangout area. The host, Miki, seems to be a real cornerstone of the community and is full of great recommendations, whether you’re after surf lessons or looking for a quirky new place for a drink he knows where to go. We also appreciate the effort being made to reduce plastic consumption at Elephant Road and in the local community. The accommodation was spacious, clean and comfortable. The swinging day bed and hammock were great for post-morning surf/pre-afternoon surf naps and the setting made drifting off for a lazy afternoon very easy. Food was great. Highly recommend the breakfast! We initially booked for 3 nights but ended up staying for 5 and wish we could have stayed for longer.
Cons: No hot water Laundry facilities offsite A little dark walking the track from the main road to the accommodation; although, everyone we met along the way (day or night) was friendly and we managed to spot some tortoises by the stream on our stroll back, which was a bonus. If you’re particularly scared of the dark, tuk tuks are cheap and can be arranged from the accommodation. We found a small torch (bike light/phone light) sufficient. None of the negatives should put you off. A truly great place to stay. Relax and embrace the Arugam way...

Pros: Perfect! Very relaxing place. Rooms are very clean and comfortable, tastefully arranged. Hammocks on the terrasse etc. Only 5 minutes walking distance to the beach. They arranged surfing lessons for us. Best breakfast! Surf, eat, relax. We’ll come back for a surf camp! Thanks, Miki!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our lodge was so so nice! When booking our stay we added in the extra information section that it was our friends 21st birthday over the course of our stay (just to request any balloons or decorations we could put up to celebrate for her birthday). On arrival, we discovered that because the best lodge was not booked over our stay, we had been upgraded to the family suite free of charge! So lovely of them to do this as it really made our stay special. The owner also helped us prepare a birthday cake and get candles etc for our friends birthday and keep it hidden in the kitchen till the morning. The staff are all very eco conscious which was refreshing to find. They encouraged us to recycle any plastic bottles we used or refill them free of charge from their filtered water. As well as this, they stocked the fridge with free mineral water in glass bottles which we were welcome to have as many as we liked during our stay. As well as being eco friendly, this also made our stay slightly cheaper and better value for money. Thanks again, hopefully we can come back another time :)
4.2 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was good
Cons: Overpriced for it’s location
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff were incredible. Dilshan was managing he property while Miki was away and he was wonderfully attentive and helpful. You must try his shakshuka and hummus! They have amazing connections with local transport and surf lessons so you don’t have to worry about sorting those things for yourself. The perfect way to experience Arugam Bay.
Cons: The only slight issue is that the property is a little bit away from the main strip, but this also means it is very peaceful and relaxed. It is a 5 minute extra walk into the centre of Arugam Bay or an even quicker tuk tuk.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Quiet, upmarket backpacker accommodation; if that’s what you want you’ll be pleased. If you’re expecting a boutique hotel you might be disappointed. Large rooms with hammock outside. Miki is an excellent host and we had a great experience staying here. Miki sorted surfing for us which was what we wanted from A-Bay Good, simple food Very laid back and relaxing between trips to surf locations.
Cons: 10 minute walk to main road, need to use tuktuks for most trips. Closest surf baby point 20-25 mins walk. Bathrooms are clean but the bare concrete looks like a prison cell! Everything in Arugam Bay is expensive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is so lovely and quiet and everyone there is amazing...super helpful and knowledgeable about the area. We had a wonderful time, and wish we could have stayed longer.

Pros: Unbeatable for the price (paid 5€pp)
Cons: Very very simple rooms. Also about 10min Walk away from Main Street (mainly houses of fishermen around)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super kind and helpful manager. Hammock and hangout area. Really good wifi. Peace and quiet. Around 8 min walk to end up in the middle of the beach. Amazing place for such a cheap price in Arugam Bay!
Cons: Apparently the family living on the property in charge of cleaning and chores were new. The mother and daughter would stare at us uncomfortably long and close. Novelty of seeing westerners should wear off soon though :)
9.2 Excellent
Pros: It’s a nice place within walking distance from town. We arrived early in the morning and they let us check in which we really appreciate. Room is small but comfortable with a seating area outside. Thank you!
Cons: No complaints
5.0 Okay
Pros: - That it was only for 1 night - Very cheap
Cons: - Lots of bugs, big spiders and other animals (even for Sri Lanka). - Stains on the sheets and towels - Location is very far from everything - Very hot (fan cant handle)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Super perfect accommodation! The host is very friendly and kind. I had a perfect stay and I will definitely come again! I rented a scooter so I reached everything very quickly. Loved the stay!
Cons: No AC only a fan but for this price not really a negativ point!
7.9 Good
Pros: Cute room and peaceful location, just a bit of a walk back from the main beach/street. Very nice host.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The manager was so kind and helpful, he even made sure to drive us in to the Main Street so we didn’t have to walk late at night! Couldn’t have asked for a kinder host!
6.7 Good
Pros: Just cheap place
Cons: Short bed
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice little house, quit area and super cheap and close to the beach
Cons: The bed is a bit small for 2 ppl
8.3 Excellent
Pros: This property is perfect for those who would like to stay out of town. The ownership is very warm and friendly, though communicating across languages was a little difficult. The room is quite small and there aren't a lot of places to sit and chill, but the bed is comfortable and you get set up with a great table and chairs on your own little deck. I imagine the property is absolutely beautiful when there's been good rains. The beach nearby is very private and makes for a nice walk, especially if the sun taking a break. It'd be great if you enjoy walking, got a scooter, bicycle, or consistent tuk-tuk ride so you could easily get meals in town. There's a little shop just across the street if you need water, snacks, or other provisions. One man we met was staying here for at least a month and he had arranged some kind of long term breakfast and bicycle rental through the owners.
Cons: We stayed towards the end of the busy season, so staying closer to town wasn't too hectic for us and involved less walking than staying here did. Note: to get to the main surf peak from here you must either walk towards town or around the beach - it is not closer to surfing than any other hotel in the southern side of Arugam bay.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Big room with high ceilings. Room was clean and quite modern compared to the typical bungalows here. Great air con and shower had warm water and a working mini fridge. Comfy pillows and nice towels. Good quality breakfast - fresh fruit, yoghurt, tea and coffee, eggs on toast, Sri Lankan pankcakes or rotti. Location was good - 2min walk to the beach, 5min walk to surf point, 5min walk to Main Street with restaurants and shops.
Cons: Bathroom had lots of ants. I feel this place is slightly overpriced. Most other comparable rooms in A-Bay were about 20-30% less for same type of room. Staff were very friendly and helpful but minimal English - enough for the basics though (breakfast, laundry, housekeeping).
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room was modern, spacious and comfortable. The whole property was very neat and the owner was very friendly. We loved the breakfast and we found the nicest surf teacher there!
7.5 Good
Pros: 10 minutes’ walk to town area, nice local restaurants close by. The room was comfortable with a nice little balcony, fridge in the room was great! For $9/night for 2 people it was great value for money. Owner was a cool guy!
Cons: The shower didn’t work well as pressure was poor and leaky plumbing, and the room could have been cleaner. WiFi was very weak.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place to stay, it's in a quiet location but close to the beach and main street for shops and restaurants. The best part is the staff, they are very kind and helpful! The manager Kosala even joined me on my safari to Kumana national park last minute as there was a misunderstanding with the booked safari and no English speaking guide was available! Kosala didn't hesitate and within a few minutes he rearranged to join me with his friend Thushantha. Because of this I had a fantastic day and enjoyed the safari, if he and his friend wouldn't have been able to join, I would have not had the same experience as would have been stuck with a non English speaking driver! The room was big and had a power shower with hot water, not something you get a lot in Sri lanka. The breakfast was also great and included fresh fruit!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice rooms, nice and helpful reception, really good breakfast, relatively good location
Cons: Overprized ( for the same prize you could have a hotel in a better location)
7.5 Good
Pros: The property is 2 Min walk from the beach. Staff is quite friendly and help you with anything. The Breakfast was awesome .The access road can be approached with any Vehicle. Overall the price could come down a little bit

Pros: It's a nice place very close to Arugam Bay beach. Grate facilitys. Good parking space. Grate restaurant with Sri lanan and Indian foods. Very friendly staff. Specially recommend for family with kids. Safe place for other travelers too.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff was super nice, the room great value for the price. And location was amazing.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: There's plenty of parking (no shades ) , good privacy (if drapes were closed properly), Ac and fan worked well. Room exchange procedure was quick. Security was good.
Cons: We stayed at this property for two nights as a family of 7. We had one family room and two double rooms. Checkin in was smooth. We found out our rooms aren't near by even though we specially asked for nearby rooms months before when we booked the property. One room was not properly cleaned and had half-a-bathroom. Shower was right over the commode. When we complaint this to the front desk we were moved to another room but it did not have mosquito nets. It was swept and bed was made over all clean but not to the expected level. Room curtains were old stained and torn. they did not properly cover the window. Bathroom was a disaster the sink won't drain for hours and the showers were broken (handing from the pipe not hanged by a handle) No toiletries, very basic towels. Toilet drainage system that was exposed right outside the room gave a nasty smell. No extra facilities, no kettle, no water bottles, no tea or coffee, not even extra bedding, pillow or towels. No 24hours help desk. We paid 10000+ LKR for the family room and 6000+ LKR for the double room per night. Restaurant is over priced and not worth it. Definitely does not have an ocean view but conveniently located in front of the beach road.
