This place is a spectacular mountain resort nestled among skiing and hiking trails in Banff National Park.
What I did not realize when booking this hotel "15 km from downtown Banff" is that it is nearly an hour each way to get from your room to downtown Banff once you factor in the gandola ride or shuttle up the mountain.
The staff was amazing!
Amazing hotel. Unbeatable location, perfect hotel. Completely beautiful place to stay. The most amazing experience to be able to go for a trail walk right outside your hotel. The staff were so lovely and talkative
The personnel from the check in through check out were personable, knowledgeable and eager to please.
There was one desk person who greeted us at arrival who was not able to speak English well which didn't make the process flow very well. Additionally once arriving at Banff even the GPS was not useful. Calls to the facility for directions were not useful. It took us almost 2 hours once we reached Banff to find our way.
It is a unique experience parking at the bottom and taking a long and scenic gondola ride to the top (about 15 minutes). The scenery is stunning. My favorite part was the hike around the lakes and through the meadows, not to be missed and worthwhile even if you are not staying at the hotel. The staff members were cheerful, friendly and helpful, save one exception. If you don't mind that you are rather isolated, then this is the place for you.
Rooms were a little snug and a bit noisy. We ordered a roasted vegetable flatbread and received a spicy chicken flatbread instead. When we pointed it out, the waiter said that cook insisted that it was the roasted vegetable flatbread though there were no vegetables. The food was okay, but who wants to be lied to about the food you eat? There are better food options in Banff and after that meal, that's where we ate.
