10.0 Excellent
Pros: Both my daughter and I slept better than we have in months! The beds were so comfy and although we stayed on a very hot evening and had the windows open (plus we were provided with a fan) we didn't even notice the traffic outside. We chose Lanes to stay at as we were spending 2 days at Alton Towers and it was just perfect in every way, only a 20 minute drive away and close to shops and a petrol station. We will definately be back when we next visit Alton Towers and hope to be less tired so we can make use if the hot tub! The breakfast was perfect and they literally couldn't do enough to please guests. Best place I've stayed at!
Cons: Nothing could have been better in our opinion!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lanes bed and breakfast really was an incredible establishment, Janet and Chris were both very accommodating and polite. It was my partners 21st birthday and I requested the room to be decorated for when we arrived and it looked amazing. Janet puts in immense amounts of hard work to ensure that you have a comfortable and pleasurable stay and that is exactly what we received. The food cooked and facilities provided were of 10/10 standards, we couldn’t find one negative about our stay. Thank you for an amazing weekend.

Pros: The apartment was just superb, I can only say very good things about our stay. i totally recommend this hotel to anyone looking for something exceptional. The food and drinks at the bar were delicious.
Cons: There was nothing not to like
5.4 Okay
Pros: The size of the apartment is huge and apart from the need of removing all those cobwebs! It's a great accommodation, the pool was ok (not as big as the pictures on booking.com) steamroom and sauna good (it doesn't feel like a luxury leisure facility though) The main house is old in a good way, but it's abit tired looking, but they are doing some work from 1st September (not sure what though) food was good quick (don't know if you noticed but I'm not saying great at any point
Cons: It's not easy writing a bad review but I feel people should be well informed before the make the decision to stay here, park lacked an atmosphere, some staff seemed uninterested in visiting guests & more interested in time share guests! We paid for the leisure pack, but tennis is not included in this and is £2 per head extra for one hour! Apartment and patio furniture was covered in cobwebs and spiders! and if you stay in a ground floor one it sounds like elephants above you! Child was sick in the pool so we lost a whole day as they had to close it! and the changing room showers smells of mold. To top it all its very remote so you cannot walk to any pub or shop unless your happy to walk around an hour!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything.
Cons: I had to leave!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We decided to take a walk in the grounds. We walked through beautiful grounds for nearly an hour and still had not left the property!!! We only stayed one night and were a little worried that it was "apartments". No need to worry. The apartment had everything you could want including free tea and coffee. Beautifully appointed
Cons: Only problem we had was with obtaining internet access.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This our 3rd visit and enjoyed our stay here.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very good value for money. Clean spacious comfortable rooms and lovely leisure facilities
Cons: Would be nice if they served breakfast but croissants delivyto our were perfectly fine.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent
Cons: Everything OK
9.2 Excellent
Pros: I want to keep this hotel as a secret - for us it was outstanding and had what we want in a hotel. Good value, good food, great staff, nice grounds, and a feeling of being valued. Car parking was easy. We were in the old building (not the new wing) and just loved the feel and surroundings. Internet was good. Recommend but do not tell too many people as we are going back! It still has "class" e.g piano player afternoon tea on sunday.
Cons: The hotel does not have a gym etc which some will require and i guess it is a hotel for age group of the 40+ rather than the 20's (but thats part of what i like!).
7.1 Good
Pros: The hotel in itself (public areas) was nice with very friendly and obligingly helpful staff. However whilst I understand they are going through renovations and upgrades, especially to the bedrooms, I would have to say our superior priced room did not meet expectations for this class of hotel.
Cons: See above

Pros: Very comfy bed and good breakfast. Scrambled eggs and smoked salmon.
7.9 Good
Pros: Gardens and views very good.
Cons: Decoration of some areas needs refreshing. Wheelchair access needs improving.

Cons: Bathroom a little dated but overall excellent

Pros: Very nice finish throughout, good facilities, big room.
7.1 Good
Pros: Great stay, wonderful breakfast and enjoyed the new gym equipment in the gym facilities. Bonus was having a Starbucks in the reception area.
Cons: There was a ticking noise in my bathroom and a lot of kids staying on my floor so somewhat noisy.
7.1 Good
Cons: Air conditioning for a hotel that size was inadequate. Room warm even with ac on. We were at a wedding and there was not any ac in the banqueting rooms. Two of the three stalls in the male toilets next to the banqueting rooms were out of use for several days even though the staff were informed. The door to our room no. 108 didn’t close properly unless you pulled it hard. Went back one day after housekeeping had been and the door wasn’t closed properly. Any body could have walked in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful grounds and situation. View from room was great overlooking open countryside. Super pool and steam room. Great seeing the football pitches all around. Yasmin was helpful when I left my case in the car park.
Cons: If we could have eaten outside either evening or breakfast.
10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff very helpful and a great experience all round.
7.1 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: The safe never worked although we did ask twice about it.
7.1 Good
Pros: Lovely countryside location
Cons: The noise in the hotel corridors at night disturbed our sleep. Our room was next to one of the fire doors which banged every time people passed through it (frequently). The walls/doors are so thin I could hear the conversations of people in the next room/in the corridor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable stay
Cons: We were with a wedding party (and noted in the booking) - some acknowledgement/provision for earlier/check-in or at least reducing the check-in queue
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Position and surroundings were great
Cons: Breakfast was not up to spec for a 4 start hotel. There were no Fried eggs when we went to select our breakfast! Portions of food for evening meal not enough!

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good location for visiting a gig at the Old Star, just couple of 100 yds away. Large room, bit dated, but they've put touches in to modernise it. Comfortable enough. Lovely bit mirror on bathroom door. Plenty of teas, coffees, hot chocolate and biscuits. Plenty of onsite parking. Just be careful and read the instructions on how to get to the car park, as it's not on Bridge St.
Cons: Just a bit dated in places but nothing serious.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Delicious breakfast and friendly staff. Location is very handy being next to the station and close to shops and restaurants. Having unrestricted access in terms of times for being able to access the building was ideal.

Cons: There was nothing than I did not like
5.8 Okay
Pros: The room was spacious, great views
Cons: None of the lights by the bed worked
7.9 Good
Pros: The breakfast menu had a good choice. The room was very spacious, it was clean, and had everything that was needed. I asked at the bar for a cold jug of water for my room, as the tap water was coming out warm, and they gave me this straight away. Despite the hotel being by a busy road, the room was to the back of the hotel, and was very quiet.
Cons: The gentleman at check in was pleasant enough, but spoke very quickly! Lots of doors and stairs to get through with luggage.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is lovely with a very comfortable room and beds. The food in the bar was excellent and served by friendly staff. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Cons: Nothing.
7.5 Good
Pros: All above as indicated.
Cons: The rooms are a little tardy and could probably benifit from a revamp including the entry systems etc, but very very clean. Also the food portion sizes are far too excessive for my liking, albeit an evening meal or breakfast, infact I choose the kids menu for breakfast knowing the amount served on the previous day would be far too much for me but this is just my personal opinion.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff and spotlessly clean
Cons: Room a bit beige
5.0 Okay
Cons: Noise from kitchen till 10.30... staff not bothered

When we arrived to check in we were welcomed to have dinner in the restaurant and the food was wonderful. Our bed in our room was so comfortable we didn’t want to leave. A lot of reviews moan about the decor but it was cosy, comfortable, functional and the staff were so welcoming.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff, great place
Cons: Nothing to dislike
7.9 Good
Pros: Staff are always friendly
Cons: So this is the 4th time ive stayed here, the room was so cold at night i woke up shivering. I had to turn the radiator on in the room AND bathroom. Took about an hour to heat up. I was in room 1 and jot sure if it's because if where i was, but it was extremely noisy. I woke up at 5am to a couple talking. I then had someone do a quiet knock and then use a key to open the door, luckily I shouted I'm in here - not sure if it was a cleaner although I clearly hadn't checked out so not sure why a cleaner would be coming so early.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Food was lovely.
Cons: Nothing not to like.
7.7 Good
Pros: The rooms are very spacious, and having a choice of bath and shower was important to us, good value for money, breakfast very good plenty of choice and service at breakfast excellent.
Cons: confusion wether to wait at a table and wait for service or to order at the bar, felt a little bit invisible on the first evening, staff appeared to not want to serve the us, and when we asked where do we order (as a hint that we where ready to order) they told my partner it was up to him where he ordered and then quickly walked away. Wether this was due to them being busy I am not sure, however second evening was better but I did notice they where not as busy on the second evening. Breakfast staff could not have been more attentive without being overbearing they were excellent.

5.4 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was lovely.
Cons: I booked this break for a present for my sister who last time she came 4 years ago had a very bad experience. I often come with my husband and must admit this visit was a disappointment for us. A big change since January good and bad! Our check in was fine and on arrival to our rooms we gave the modern room to my sister 332 as room 330 had a smell to it. The bath (drains) smelt revolting but i was told when i questioned is there was other rooms available that i wouldn't be with my sister as the hotel was fully booked. (This was one of the requests from when i booked originally that i was with my sister) We chose to stay in the room - The room had a terrible amount of cobwebs and unclean curtains which clearly need washing. 330 is a corner room next to an exit door to some stairs which lead to the room where the Wedding party was. The door was being opened and closed up until at least 2.20am in the morning which was a total joke when it banged each time. (Maybe put a slow closer on the door or even a reduced noise foam lining on the frame to stop it banging.) Needless to say i didn't have a relaxing, stress free nights sleep. I never checked out as i couldn't be bother to discuss the issues i had experienced and spoil my day when being already tired. HCH are making great changes but forgetting there day to day cleanliness. The Spa has rust on the jet area and mold growing in various different area's. Toilets were also in a need of a clean in the changing rooms. Generally think the hotel is to busy looking at the £££ signs from Wedding's and other functions to be bothered with looking after and the smaller parties and loyal customers, which are now being forgotten about. I was here for my mini moon in Jan and can honestly say it has gone down hill since then. Was hoping to book the beginning of November for 3 of us but now looking else where.

Pros: It was my partners bday and I requested a happy bday card that was there on arrival- many thanks for that. Our room 320 was overlooking someone balcony and we felt our privacy was restricted. Funny set up but it was quickly sorted with a complementary bottle of champagne which we enjoyed :)
Cons: The position of someone’s balcony overlooking our bed :(

Cons: Slightly shorter queues at breakfast.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: very clean and friendly service good location
Cons: nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: Staff were very helpful, no matter what time of the day you needed them
Cons: Two things which let our stay down. First, it wasn't clear on booking that there would be a parking fee. We were staying there for five nights and so it added up. It would be beneficial to make this clearer on booking.com Second (slight) issue was that we left a present in the room (bottle of Glitter Gin) and no one contacted us to ask if they should send it to us. We only realised a couple of weeks later when we were going to visit the person we bought it for.

4.2 Okay
Pros: The fact that it is close to the National Arboretum would be the only redeeming feature.
Cons: The double room was dated and the decor was tired. The kettle and cups in the room were dirty and the room could have done with a good dusting. The "Award Winning" cooked breakfast was greasy, salty and inedible and the jam pots on the table were either empty or contained watery marmalade.

3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The breakfast was good.
Cons: The bedroom was grimy, the bathroom blinds were covered in dirt and the shower was not clean. The ceiling fan in the bedroom was full of ingrained dust and had dirt, and dead flies in it. I mentioned this to the host who seemed completely disinterested in my comments and said it was her home not a professional hotel, then she then told us she employed a professional cleaner to clean the rooms.very disappointing stay that did not live up to the reviews.

Pros: Excellent friendly FOH staff, warm comfortable room and bed..
Cons: Nothing to dislike
4.6 Okay
Cons: Bedroom ... great example of “what is the minimum size of room I can get away with, and still call it a double” Horrible little room Couldn’t swing a cat in there Windows only opened at top ... all designed to protect the hotel owner rather than maximise customer satisfaction And breakfast service Haha ha Pathetic service That hotel was full of business people ... not holiday makers ... so the service had to be fast and st least efficient ... or a nice ready cooked buffet ... it was pathetically slow to the point that I didn’t even bother ordering .... just grabbed some cereal ... one if worst places I’ve stayed for a business trip And bed was so rubbish I put mattered on floor and slept there Rate out if 10= 4/10 Poor Great example of rip off Britain Shame
