Excellent 9.0

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Friendly, helpful staff offering a warm welcome Fantastic food The view from the restaurant onto the beach is wonderful and coupled with reasonably priced food and drink it’s easy to see why it’s popular in the area and guests come back

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Had a great stay at the Ashbank, very comfortable and extremely friendly owners and locals. Will be back!
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Sharon and John were excellent, suggesting places to eat and places to eat on our travels around Kintyre. The breakfast was brill. The best out of our three night stays.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The breakfast was very good
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The breakfast was fantastic. The hosts are lovely people. Outside area for sitting is nice and pleasant. Location fantastic. Towels lovely and fluffy clean. Beds very comfy. The views of the sea are fab from room 1..... Carradale is a nice little place.
Cons: Curtains don't have blackout material on therefore as soon as light comes up at 4am the room is light and disturbed my sleep. TV would be better on the wall and then the table for tea and coffee underneath on the table would be better rather than have table in wardrobe where it's awkward.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Excellent breakfast and the owner was very helpful with any of our requests or needs.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: A well-run guesthouse with a comfortable room. The bathroom is well equipped if a little small for the larger person. Breakfast was excellent. The hosts were friendly and it was great to have a blether with the landlord in the bar over a couple of local Campbeltown drams.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Stunning view from the bedroom window
Cons: No negative comments
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Ashbank feels more like staying with friends than staying in a hotel. John and Sharon were exceptional hosts. My wife and I simply loved our stay here. Our room was comfortable and exceptionally clean. The shower in the freshly decorated bathroom was hot and powerful. There is a very comprehensive selection of tasty items for breakfast both continental and cooked. Although the Ashbank is a small hotel it has a great range of beers and spirits in its bar. It also has a very comfortable lounge area. Location is very peaceful ensuring a good night’s sleep especially after experiencing the malt whisky selection. Couldn’t have asked for anything more in a short break.
Cons: Absolutely nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Hostess warm and friendly and very anxious to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Great wee hotel. Would come back.

Excellent 9.0
Pros: Great doggy friendly hotel, we had ground floor sea view room with access to garden facing onto beach which was great for our dog. Staff are excellent!
Cons: Rooms are slightly dated but comfortable
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff were exceptional
Cons: The only thing I can think of was not the property itself it was the smell of sewerage when outside. I think it’s because it goes straight into the sea
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Great location right next to beach .The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Dined in the restaurant both evenings meals were delicious and reasonably priced.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything was excellent
Cons: Nothing at all.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Breakfast offered a really good choice. We loved the location and had a room with a great sea view. It was fabulous seeing the amazing sunset over Mull of Kintyre.
Cons: Hotel was a bit pricey, but so too was other accommodation on Arran.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The room was large and spotlessly clean. Felt very well spaced out. Enjoyed the pool. Good food in restaurant.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Great location. Friendly, helpful staff. Swimming pool was nice but probably helped by limited numbers due to Covid! Good breakfasts.
Cons: The food at dinner was fine but nothing to rave about. Also a bit salty for my taste.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The hotel was lovely, very clean, staff were so friendly and helpful , the food was delicious
Cons: Couldn’t fault it

Good 7.0
Pros: Staff are awesome
Cons: Rooms are a little dated
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very clean, comfortable, staff lovely
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Friendly helpful staff , comfortable room and excellent location
Cons: Poor selection at breakfast considering the price. Charged £12 for a 5 year olds breakfast and he couldn’t get a yogurt. No fruit both days. Restaurant closure was poorly communicated.
Okay 5.0
Pros: Large, Very comfortable bed Great shower Good sized room Peaceful location Friendly staff
Cons: Rated 4 star and priced as 4 star without 4 star facilities. Value does not match expected luxury. Slight smell of damp in room The only food available in the evening is pub food served in adjacent building, nice pub food but not the menu expected from the hotel restaurant which was closed. Room facilities not as expected for 4 star, i. e limited small toiletries available which were not replenished during 3 night stay, only cheap freeze dried coffee sachets available in room, limited viewing options on tv.
Good 6.0
Pros: Staff were friendly and our room was nice.
Cons: The breakfast was very poor, and we waited a long time for it. Overall we felt our whole stay was very overpriced.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Excellent hotel pure luxury great food superb breakfast very comfortable stay would highly recommend
Cons: Nothing

Good 6.0
Pros: Location.
Cons: We had to ask for an extension lead because the lead from the kettle was too short to reach the socket. There was no socket near enough for the hair dryer to be used in front of the mirror. No thought had been given to how the room would be used. The cooking of the breakfast could be improved.
Good 6.0
Pros: Location was close to town if you do not have mobility problems.
Cons: We had kippers for breakfast and it was swimming in oil/butter. Full Scottish breakfast was much better.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Beautiful room and location - great garden tt9 make the most of dining in the lovely weather. Menu and drinks choice were fantastic and we didn't consider eating anywhere else for our whole stay
Cons: Covid restrictions do make things less flexible, but the hotel managed this incredibly well.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: When we arrived we thought we had booked a room in the main Hotel not knowing that there was an Anexe. So we were disappointed to be placed in an Anexe room but when we spoke to Flora the Owner she was very helpful and we managed to stay 2 night in the main Hotel.
Cons: Anexe Rooms. Although clean & tidy they are too far from the main Hotel.
Good 6.0
Pros: Location: super; Food: likewise; Hotel: lounge, whisky bar and dining areas all superb.
Cons: We were, as expected, in an annex to the main building, but we did not expect the annex to be three or so largish buildings away from the main hotel which had to be walked for all meals. in addition the bedroom in the annex was not too user friendly, being unable to open the en-suite door fully due to it hitting the bed. For such a generous sized en-suite space, the shower (85cm quarter round) was way too small with the toilet crushed in a corner beside it while there was one totally empty wall and another with only a washbasin. Could be so much better.

Excellent 8.0
Pros: Staff attentive, breakfast great, nice gardens, just a short walk from the bay. Will definitely go back with dog next time.
Cons: Garden furniture needs renewed to make the most of the great space outside. We had a long power cut which was out of the control of the hotel, but they tried their best to make amends.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Very helpful and friendly staff, cannot fault them. They make you feel very welcome
Cons: No comment
Okay 5.0
Pros: Lovely location
Cons: It’s been upgraded slightly but still in need of some TLC
Good 6.0
Pros: Nice garden and conservatory utilised as the dining room.
Cons: Room was quite small and the view was of the yard at the back of the hotel.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Staff were fantastic, food was as well. Freshest langoustines we have ever had,
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Excellent family run hotel, very friendly and helpful with the dog getting as much attention as we did. Whilst a quirky menu, Scottish Tapas, it works really well as you get to taste a number of dishes on each night and the cooking cannot be faulted as it was brilliant, you have to try it to appreciate it.
Cons: There was nothing on our stay that I could fault with the accommodation, really friendly staff who would go out of their way to help and good banter with other people staying, we had an excellent time and good walks on the beach for the dog.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Staying in the Carradale Hotel on our Kintyre Trail, we have been very welcome by the team, being a "Very dog friendly" Hotel, even the dog had a welcome box with treats (and p** bags). The room facing to the shore line was spacious, comfortable and quiet. We had nice walks around the area. The meal in the evening was mind blowing: Mostly locally sourced fine angus beef, fresh local Langoustines, fresh "Churros" filled with caramel cream... Also a nice garden/beer garden with excellent views.
Cons: The facade facing the road gives you a wrong impression - prepare to be surprised
Poor 1.0
Cons: we were booked in for 2 nights and were due to arrive at 7.30pm for dinner but unfortunately our satnav took us a longer route and didn’t get there till 8 o’clock.I spoke to the staff member on arrival who was serving food to tables and explained to be told we now couldn’t get Food .He then asked if we were up in area for Mach 1 stages rally and said they didn’t serve breakfast till 8.30am so we wouldn’t be feed in morning either .I think the owner needs to work on their customer service a simple bowl of cornflakes ,some orange juice or a croissant would have done .If you book this place bear in mind it’s over an hr trip to Campbeltown and back to get some food .Theirs a small hotel next door to this one and their customer service was 5 star .I couldn’t believe after the last year and a half that a small business was happy to refuse making money after being closed for covid
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great breakfast good variety for dinner. Carradale Golf course at back door of hotel so location brilliant. Views from course amazing x

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very helpful and friendly staff ,quiet location but within easy access to town.
Cons: Very poor water pressure resulting in the shower being very poor
Mediocre 3.0
Pros: The property was in a lovely location with great view. The bathroom in our room was lovely
Cons: We found mouse droppings on the bedroom floor so couldn’t let you baby crawl around the room. The staff and owner had there discussions at the reception area that was beside our room. We heard all their conversations and all the swearing too!!! Having a baby, I feel being put in the room right by the entrance was quite unfair as we heard everyone coming and going and banging the door. Also in this heat, there was no window that would open and no flan provided. The room was far too hot for us and our baby. The breakfast was advertised as a buffet style…..this didn’t exist. When my cereal arrived, the milk was already in the bowl. I found this quite odd. There were other guests, who looked like workmen, who were walking about without their masks on, none of these men displayed the exemption pass.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Food was outstanding, outside view was stunning, location ideal for visiting town.
Cons: If bathroom fan wasn't as noisy. This was remedied by using shaving light.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Lovely room, stunning location. Very friendly and helpful staff
Cons: Nothing. It was absolutely amazing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything the staff were amazing and very attentive we will be booking again
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Very spacious, bright room. Tasty breakfast.

Poor 1.0
Pros: Comfortable bed.
Cons: The owners need to decide if this is a hotel or their home. Currently, it has none of the benefits of a hotel and all of the bad parts of being in someone's home. From slippers in the hallway, calling out between family members and a house party with shouting, foul language, beer cans and wineglasses lying in the back garden, this was the most uncomfortable stay I have ever endured. The owner made a comment at breakfast that you don't apologise for a good night out, but the issue remains that you were not OUT, you were in your place of business that you are charging people to sleep (or not sleep) in. The owner wandering around in their pyjamas does not set a tone of trust that good management practices are being adhered to or covid guidelines followed. If this is what family run hotels are like then I would prefer a big chain. Apart from the night shenanigans, the room had paper on the floor under the bed and crumbs on the carpet. We don't have cooked breakfast so opened packets of All Bran and Special K were dumped on the table for us. Too bad if you don't care for these, this was your only option. Want toast? You get butter and no offer of any spreads. It is basic to the point of spartan. The whole vibe is that you are at someone's house that doesn't really care for you being there.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: We enjoyed three nights at the Dellwood Hotel. Travelling with our dog, we received a warm welcome. It is a family run Hotel, and the whole team did everything to make us feel at home. We have been well looked after during our stay. Our room was away from the main street towards the garden and very quiet. The location of the Hotel is ideal, only a few walking minutes two Supermarkets, the town centre and the Sea. Plenty of possibilities to walk the dog around the Hotel.
Cons: We should have stayed another day, as there is so much to see around Campbelltown.
Good 7.0
Pros: Location was good. Hosts were really nice
Cons: Room could have been better.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Breakfast was fantastic and the hosts brilliant .close to town.
Cons: Decor a bit tired .
Excellent 8.0

Excellent 9.0
Pros: Location excellent for our planned activities. Breakfast was served at convenient time of our choice and was well cooked.
Cons: No significant problems.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Just out of the town, by a short walk. Spacious room and great atmosphere. Fresh cooked breakfast was excellent
Cons: The seagulls roosting in the trees were noisy, quiet after dark
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Perfect for everything
Cons: No
