Excellent 10.0
Pros: Fantastic location - quiet but only ten minutes drive to Bowmore with fantastic views towards the Paps of Jura. Linda, who is currently running Skerrols House is lovely. She gave us helpful information about walks and things to do on Islay. She's also a fantastic cook - her breakfasts are wonderful.
Cons: Nothing to dislike. Everything was wonderful.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The host Linda was excellent - full of very useful information and advice . Nothing was too much for her to help us . Breakfast was very good .
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Spotlessly clean, great service and lovely breakfasts
Cons: The approach road from the main road to the driveway of the property could have done with some repair.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Thomas is an amazing host - welcoming, friendly, competent and extremely efficient
Cons: The cherry on top would have been able to sample a dram or two of whisky from the local distilleries on an honesty book basis but perhaps this is a licensing issue or it has been tried before and failed. Just remember to have some of your own available if you want a drink before you go out for supper.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Beautiful. Great host. Great, central location.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The host was absolutely amazing, Thomas made my stay as comfortable as he could. He even lit a fire for me the last night I was there in the common room. It did not hurt the rest of the rooms were empty during my short stay. I can not recommend this place enough, and it has 99% to do with Thomas.
Cons: I think the breakfast nook might get cramped when full.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Thomas was the perfect hostess, very helpful, friendly, has explained everything and the made an excellent breakfast. We enjoyed our stay, but unfortunately too short.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I’ve been staying in UK B&Bs for over 20 years and this one is, by far, the best B&B I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying at. Thomas is an absolute gem and makes sure that every aspect of the stay is utterly superb. I will never stay anywhere else when on Islay! 10/10 for sure!
Cons: There was nothing to improve upon.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The house was extremely warm and inviting. The breakfast was to "die" for !
Cons: There was nothing not to like !

Excellent 10.0
Pros: I had such a lovely stay at Glenegedale. The room was extremely comfortable and clean. There was so much attention to detail throughout, and the food was exceptional. Emma and Graeme were really lovely hosts and really went out of their way to make me feel welcome in their home. Will definitely be back!
Cons: I could not fault any aspect of my stay. It was perfect.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We cannot fault Glenegedale House. Graeme and Emma are incredibly welcoming and hospitable. We were welcomed with tea and cake in front of the fire in a very comfortable sitting room. We opted for the seafood platter for dinner one night, which was phenomenal! At £100 for 2, it wasn’t the cheapest meal we have ever had, but incredibly good value given the amount of seafood we got and how tasty it was (all landed fresh on the same day at a harbour just down the road). Plenty of recommendations of things to do and see from our hosts. Literally across the road from the airport terminal building, so the location is great particularly if you are arriving by plane. Centrally located between the main towns of Port Ellen and Bowmore. Would not hesitate in booking Glenegedale House again.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Fabulous breakfast served in vintage crockery. Looked after very well by the very hospitable host Emma.
Cons: If evening meals could be provided I am sure they would be enjoyed thoroughly by the guests.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Breakfast was amazing. Best breakfast I've had at a hotel/guest house and we've sampled many! Emma & Graham could not have been any more helpful, kind, considerate and friendly.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Emma and Graeme are the best hosts I've ever encountered. So friendly, kind, and knowledgeable. Their food is absolutely exceptional - I don't think I've ever eaten so well! Their porridge in particular is incredible, but the whole breakfast is brilliant. Definitely have an evening meal or two there too - you won't be disappointed. We'll be back!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The minute you step in the door you just feel at ease! It really is the most beautiful place, and Emma was so helpful from the minute we had booked. Emma has so many connections on the island that she really helped us arrange our activities and plans for our 48 hours there, ensuring we did all the best bits! Breakfast is a breakfast of champions! They cater to all your needs. The rooms are extremely luxurious and comfortable, beautiful sheets and extremely clean with lovely bathroom products. I didn't want to leave!
Cons: Nothing everything was just great! I wish I had a bigger appetite, I would have eaten more for breakfast haha!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Emma and Graham are marvellous hosts Who went out of thier way to ensure we had everything we needed. They booked us dinner reservations and activities and were so helpful with thier recommendations. Thier cooking is unbelievably good. On our last night we were served a sea food platter with all fresh local produce. It was the best I’ve ever had. A real treat from start to finish. I can’t recommend them enough.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Location really good but you would need a car, food exceptional we had the seafood platter expensive but worth every penny. Hosts were excellent and gave great local knowledge
Cons: Unfortunately the fact that you have to be seated for breakfast was a little bit strict but the breakfast was worth the early start
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything! No words for the perfection. If you don't stay here I feel sorry for you! :-)
Cons: Everything was just beyond perfect. The only slightly annoying thing was the shower which was a little temperamental to get to the right temperature but this wouldn't stop me from staying here every single time! The best B&B I have ever stayed at and I have stayed at many across the country! Thanks Emma and Graham, you are beyond fantastic!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything! Glenagadale House lived up to its five star gold award. Emma and Graeme were fantastic hosts, breakfast was amazing, with all you could possibly ask for including whisky to put on your porridge and all beautifully served on vintage china.
Cons: There was absolutely nothing that we didn't like.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Fantastic stay in a beautiful house and setting. Staff were attentive and incredibly welcoming. Will be booking Islay House next time we come to Islay...hopefully once restrictions have been eased.
Cons: N/A
Excellent 10.0
Pros: fantastic hotel , lovely people
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The location was perfect and the house was beautiful. The staff were all lovely and polite, professional, friendly and attentive. The evening meals were exceptional and the beds and pillows were very comfy.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This hotel was the highlight of our whole trip! The building itself is beautiful inside and out. The room was exquisite and the bathroom was lovely. The meal at the restaurant was excellent and the staff were very attentive. The staff were all very helpful and friendly throughout our stay - they also made excellent cocktails. Location was stunning and it was easy to drive to places around the island. I accidentally left my phone in the room and the staff posted it back to me very quickly, which I was very grateful for. Looking forward to coming back here one day!
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Breakfast was delicious and very generous. Communication was great head of our stay and the house is stunning and very well presented whilst not too fussy. Our room was also very well presented.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Fantastic food in a setting that could have come from Monarch of the Glen. Great service from the staff and the food was just perfect. The rooms are out of this world and the decor tasteful and comforting. Amazing grounds and the dog loved it. Felt very welcomed.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Where to Start? This place was the highlight of our journey through several Hebridean islands, and we were there for my partner's birthday. Jane was brilliant as the head of house, handling birthday arrangements and providing helpful suggestions daily. Pierre and the rest of the restaurant staff turned the excellent meals into exceptional experiences. Everything about our room was top-notch. It was large and supremely decorated, and oozed charm. We had a wonderful view of the front garden and the loch from our windows that left us increasingly relaxed with every glance. The Peat Cutter bar is not to be forgotten, with an incredible selection and a very knowledgeable bartender, we enjoyed drinks there nightly. I wish I was still there.
Cons: We would not change a thing about this place!
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The food and ambiance was excellent.
Cons: Sorn Room. Blocked drain In the Wet/Bathroom therefore flooded the whole bathroom area.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Impeccable attention to detail

Excellent 9.0
Pros: Very nice room, friendly staff, not much to do on the island but that suited us,
Cons: Our view was at the back of the building and would have referred a sea view, we had room 9 and we could hear everything being said next door in room 8 and presumed they could hear us too. We spoke to reception who said they would look to change us in the morning but nothing more was said about it, we decided we would be ok with it, room 8 weren't overly noisy and out a lot.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The breakfast was very good with an excellent choice. We also ate there in the evening and the food we had was delicious and staff very attentive. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Dream location right next to the little cove that serves as the centre of the village, and the ferry port. Amazing facilities, unbelievably spacious and comfortable (and clean and dry!) rooms. Staff are friendly and diligent, totally made us feel at home!
Cons: This is a minor quibble, but the presentation of food at breakfast was a little threadbare (the quality and flavour of the food was excellent, tho). Also, pick closely from the menu at dinner: some food items are clearly pub food, whereas others are really haute cuisine... and there is a clear difference in taste along those lines. Still very good, tho.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: We enjoyed our stay. The staff were excellent and there were some very nice touches to the facilities. However, i did feel it was a little expensive. Breakfast was excellent.
Cons: No shaver point in bathroom and no mirror above sink.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Well appointed comfortable room. Beautiful views. Friendly helpful staff. Very good restaurant. We will definitely use this hotel again.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Food was great. Service was excellent too.
Cons: Nothing really.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The hotel is perfectly situated in the centre of Port Ellen. The original buildings have been converted and modernised very tastefully, with excellent combined use of pale colours and wood to give a feeling of space and warmth. The wi-fi works throughout the hotel, not just in the public rooms. The bedrooms are comfortable, well equipped and the shower rooms are just outstanding. The restaurant is first rate, with excellent menus for both dinner and breakfast. The staff are cheerful, helpful and the overall feel of the hotel is perfect for a relaxed stay.
Cons: Even on a leisure stay you need to be able to recharge devices - phones, tablets, cameras, GPSs etc. The availability of power sockets over the writing table in the room could have been better - two sockets only and the hotel already has three things to plug in there: TV, desk lamp and clock radio. But I'm quibbling now.

Excellent 9.0
Pros: Wonderful location by the sea, with superb food and great staff 👍👍
Cons: Nothing at all
Excellent 9.0
Pros: What a wonderful place the Port Charlotte Hotel is. We had a lovely few days of honeymooning there and couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome. The owners and their team were incredibly friendly and proactively helpful without ever coming across as pushy. The food is excellent - we very much enjoyed both the locally sourced sea food and venison - and the views out to see are just stunning. Our room was comfortable (if a little dated), very quiet, and had a good sized bath (not always the case with hotel rooms!). Would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone, whether couples, families, or friends travelling together.
Cons: The downstairs conservatory has amazing views but feels very separate from - and less smart than - the main restaurant, though the food served in either is the same.
Good 6.0
Pros: Thought this was a lovely old hotel overlooking the beach in a pretty village Our stay was under level 3 restrictions so alcohol outside only There was a nice atmosphere especially round the bar area. The staff were friendly and helpful especially in the restaurant. Our only issue was a lack of attention to detail with for example food hygiene, by the kitchen staff which resulted in concern and disappointment
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Super location, very helpful and friendly staff, beautiful view from room. Very good food.
Cons: There was too much light in the room when it was dark outside making it difficult to sleep.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Delicious
Cons: Both rooms for both myself and colleague the TV remote control did not function. Not a big enough issue to complain about but would have scored and excellent for facilities
Excellent 9.0
Pros: An idyllic location. Really felt like I was letting go of the stresses of life and thriving in the beautiful surroundings. Perfect location at the perfect time.
Good 7.0
Pros: Location, furnishings were very high end and decor lovely , excellent bar and Resturant. Great staff and private parking. Beautiful. Thank you port Charlotte
Cons: A big dislike for us was the very small bed, given the price we paid for the room, it’s a shame because I didn’t get a full/ good nights 🛏 sleep, and again for the price if the room the TV was small. ( that is not a major fact though to be fair) disappointed with the bed.

Good 6.0
Pros: Good breakfast. Quiet location.
Cons: More space in room.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We loved the location and the staff. Everyone was friendly and accommodating and the spaces were made Covid safe but still cosy and inviting. The breakfast was delicious and there was a lot of choice every day. The sea view is to die for!
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like but due to Covid we didn't get to enjoy the bars at the hotel as they were both closed. The hotel did however serve drinks in reception which could be taken back to the room or enjoyed in the shared lounge which I guess is something we did like :)

Pros: Great stay for business owner is really friendly and helpful and I was given homemade hot food which was great for my stay and really nice. Covid safety was excellent along with room and good Wi-Fi. Bonus was extra touches such as use of fridge and fresh milk and drinks. Ample parking and would definitely use if in area again. Thanks to you and your wife for lovely food and service.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Andrew and his family are so friendly, helpful and sweet, it is a lovely house. We booked a sea view room, the washroom is soooo big, warm and clean. Staying here is just like staying at home. I highly recommend here. If I have any chance to come back again, I would like to stay in Andrew's house again.

Good 7.0
Pros: The table service was prompt, even when busy.
Cons: No fresh fruit offered and limited cereals available.
Okay 5.0
Pros: The sea view from the property was nice and room was spacious. The Scottish breakfast was lovely.
Cons: The property is not value for money and is far too expensive for what it is.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Breakfast was great and the location was wonderful! Lovely bar area with friendly staff.
Cons: Our room was small for the price, but otherwise it was a great place to stay.
Poor 1.0
Pros: At the hotel bar my fiancé was racially abused and the hotel did not bother to deal with it or ask the person to leave. We have left very sad hurt and down by the whole incident. In the morning after the hotel still did not offer any form of apology for it happening on there premises and seem to note what to take any responsibility. It completely ruined our stay and we do not recommend this hotel to stay in.

Pros: Lovely dining area, beautiful beer garden overlooking the sea. Great location, easy parking.
Cons: More gluten free vegan options would have been nice.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Staff were friendly, helpful and attentive without being intrusive. Room was comfortable. Food was good although the menu could have been more extensive. Breakfast was particularly good
Cons: No complaints
Good 7.0
Pros: Staff were very good
Cons: Too expensive but there is minimal choice on Islay - would put me off visiting the island
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Room was amazing View from room and restaurant want also great Food good quality Staff very friendly and helpful Great selection of whisky available Location very convenient
Cons: A funny smell in the area, depending on the wind. Not too strong, but off putting Some areas could do with some maintenance, like water and mold in the double glazing and toilet cisterns need a good clean.
