Hotel Des Etrangers - Special Class

Great location near the water front with balcony.

Unfortunately close to a noisy venue where the music was loud late into the evening

The hotel is on a small, cobbled, one-way street overlooking the Dardanelles straights, although the view is partly blocked by the building opposite. From the ferry turn right at the roundabout - yes, it is a street! Car parking is right across the street and only TL30 a day, very convenient. Also right on the edge of the bustling downtown area, with plenty of bars, restaurants, coffee shops and stores in easy walking distance. I spent quite some time just walking around the area. Sound proofing non existant so you'll get street noise, but nothing major unless you want to get an early night! The main purpose of my trip was to visit the Gallipoli battlefields and this is a perfect base. Coach tours can be booked easily at the tourist offices just up the street and the ferry across is either 10 or 20 minutes depending on whether you go to Kalitbahir or Eceavat. I'd definitely stay there again, and Canakkale is most definitely on my list of places to return to!

The hotel itself was gorgeous felt very traditional without the pretentious feeling - same for breakfast felt it was traditional & staff so helpful will definitely recommend
