Pros: excellent breakfast nice pool area
Cons: noise from freeway
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Pool was good Pleasantly new feeling hotel Super large rooms that fit our entire family
Cons: It is right by interstate. Our room was nice and quiet on the other side of the building - it was an even number room. Watch out for the rooms the other side as they may be noisy
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very clean property. Fortunately we were not on the side of the bldg that’s adjacent to the freeway. So for us it was very quiet.
Cons: We had a great time
5.5 Okay
Cons: Very loud in the morning
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, close to the beach and restaurants near by. Excellent hot breakfast and newspaper delivery.....

Cons: Doors to room were very heavy.
7.5 Good
Pros: The grounds were nice, comfy beds, courteous staff, fair price.
Cons: The pool was small.
6.0 Good
Pros: Pleasant staff.
Cons: Awful breakfasts, Canadian bacon cooked soggy with an inch of hot fat at the bottom of the dish. Rooms rather dark and therefore looking dingy. Noisy aircon and, in our, (the only suite) room over the electric room a constant rhythmic sound and vibratio
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast choices were excellent!
Cons: All was fine.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean and convenient

7.7 Good
Pros: It was a comfortable and clean room with an excellent breakfast.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: It was clean and easy to get to Westmont College, the reason we were in the area.
Cons: sort of thin wall between us and next door and the big fight then make up session that went on at 6 am!
3.6 Mediocre
Pros: free parking, free internet
Cons: we were waked up in the middle of the night by a false fire alarm
6.0 Good
Pros: Rooms were clean, free hot/continental breakfast was a nice plus, location is good for santa barbara/wine country travellers
6.0 Good
Pros: good beds and pillows, very quiet.
Cons: a little over priced.
6.8 Good
Pros: The room: very clean, well equipped, very comfortable bed, very quiet despite facing the 101 (windows must be of excellent quality!). Pool looks nice (we did not use it), pretty noisy though since it is on the 101 side.
Cons: The breakfast: not enticing at all, even the bread tasted bad... Unless you like oversweetened sticky pastries, already made omelets and miniature beef patties waiting in a plastic cupboard, you'd better skip the breakfast and find a better one elsewhere in Carpinteria or Santa Barbara (easy!). Cafeteria atmosphere does not match the standing of the room at all.
7.2 Good
Pros: we lost an earring in sink and staff was very helpful
Cons:
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I very much liked the sofa couch microwave and refrigerator.
Cons:
6.0 Good
Pros:
Cons: The only problem was the bad communication between bookings.com and Holiday Inn Express. The reservation sent by bookings.com to the hotel did not match the dates that I had reserved. Fortunately the guy at the front desk gave me a room even if the reservation he received from bookings.com was incorrect.

Overview Reviews
When you're looking for a California vacation that will allow you to enjoy the natural beauty of the Golden State without having to deal with the traffic and congestion found in San Francisco or Los Angeles, Santa Barbara County is one of the best places to go. When staying at the Best Western Plus Carpinteria Inn, you'll be awash in California's natural beauty while having plenty of options for different activities. The Best Western Plus Carpinteria Inn is a large complex that’s incredibly decorated. The hotel’s stately architecture rightly gives guests high expectations for service during their stay. The service meets high expectations and many guests enjoy walking around the grounds because it’s so beautiful. The rooms have impressive décor that promotes the nature scenes outside the windows, and the windows provide great views of the mountains and the Pacific Ocean. While the hotel has a restaurant and bar on site, there are plenty of dining options to explore in Carpinteria. Because the city is located close to Santa Barbara, there are lots of options a short drive from there as well. Dining in this area is exceptional. There are lots of recipes inspired by the local vistas. If you head south, Ventura and Oxnard also have excellent options not just for dining, but recreation as well. A California vacation can be anything that a traveler wants it to be. When staying at the Best Western Plus Carpinteria Inn, travelers get to experience the best of California hospitality in a setting that seems too perfect to be real.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable beds, nice spacious room, view to the interval garden fro our room
Cons: Hotel charged us USD 100 more than it was confirmed by booking.com
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is beautiful, the restaurant wonderful, the halls quiet, the garden peaceful
Cons: I prefer liquid soap to bar soap.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The location
Cons: It was noisy, right next to freeway. Beds were squeaky and uncomfortable. The hotel smelled like a nursing home.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The Courtyard. But our room didn't face it. We were put in the back by the freeway and parking lot.
Cons: 1. TV didn't work on Tuesday night and we wanted to watch the debates. When we called front desk they said it was being repaired. This was at 5PM. Still not repaired by 9 PM so we sent to sleep. Missed the whole debate. 2.Did not have regular coffee packets in room next morning. Only decaf. Called front desk for caffeine packets and the very rude man said we had to come to the lobby to get coffee. I walked in my pajamas from the back of the building to the front lobby to pick up two coffees. Brought them back and tried to drink them. The coffee was so bad (tasted like dirty dishwater) that we had to dump it, get dressed and go out to breakfast. We were going to have breakfast in the hotel restaurant but decided not to after that experience. 3. Took a shower and the tub filled up with water. It never drained. We didn't get our showers and had to leave to attend a class were going to. Left without showering. 4. Left our room at 7am and returned at 4PM. Our room was never cleaned. It was untouched. Called from desk o report and they said they will contact housekeeping. Also reported stopped up tub at this time. At 5:15 housekeeping came but by that time we didn't care and asked for fresh towels and Caffeine packets for the next morning. They gave us the towels but said they were out of caffeine packets. 5. Repair man came to snake out the tub while we were there watching the 2nd night debates and left. When I went to the bathroom to use it the tub was left filthy and the bathroom smelled of sewer. I had to clean it up and spray it with my perfume. 6. Then ordered room service at 5PM for dinner and the guy said they could not take any orders until 5:30 when they opened. The girl at front desk had told us they opened at 5PM So we called back at 5:30Pm to order our room service and he said they would deliver it in a half hour. It arrived at 6:45PM after I called to check on what happened to it. 7. In general very rude staff.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a pleasant and attractive Inn. They are welcoming and concerned with their guests' comfort.
5.5 Okay
Pros: I always enjoy how beautifully landscaped the garden of the property is. Especially at night very relaxing.
Cons: After not being able to upgrade our room to the preferred room we wanted (even though I am a booking.com AND best western member) We were offered the “ocean and Mountain View. Which is barely a glimpse of blue that could be seen between 2 palm trees, and actual view was the freeway off ramp. I’ve stayed at this location multiple times and very disappointed that I was unable to be accommodated for just a fun 1 night stay. Also the temperature of the spa was so hot that my family couldn’t even keep their feet in it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very friendly and accommodating . The property is gorgeous. Loved having the restaurant on the premises.
10.0 Excellent

Cliff House Inn On The Ocean - Carpinteria - Pool
3
8.2 Excellent (777 reviews)
C$ 250+
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Cliff House Inn On The Ocean in Ventura, you'll be on the waterfront, within a 15-minute drive of Mission San Buenaventura and Ventura Pier. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby and multilingual staff. Event facilities at this hotel consist of conference space and a meeting room. Free self parking is available onsite.
7.5 Good
Pros: I thought it was great that there was a separate little area with a table. I also really enjoyed the incredible ability to fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean. As well as the morning and all day view. there's never really enjoy the black crowned night heron that was in the palm tree with its mate and apparently fledglings.
Cons: They could update the shower area, and they need to have a place to hang a hand towel in the vanity area. I also expected more options for tea in the public lobby area. This would not have cost them much and would have been much appreciated. the staff are not very knowledgeable, are particularly helpful. Other than the groundskeepers and housekeeping, who were very friendly and helpful. it was frustrating to call the front desk three times in a row over the same hour and not receive an answer in the early evening.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location is great!
Cons: Maybe a microwave, a larger mini fridge that's all !
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We liked the location, the pool and the dinner and breakfast at the terrace!
Cons: The seagull :)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location cannot be beat. Dolphins and pelicans can be observed. The restaurant is wonderful. The lamb was perfectly prepared, accompanied and presented. The staff literally goes out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and happy. This iconic hotel offers cozy, well-decorated rooms, service, amenities, unrivaled views and an enchanting get away. We never left the resort. Oh, and the surf crashing yards away is the perfect lullaby.
Cons: An elevator would have been great. But the stairs are sturdy, wide and well-placed.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great staff and very good food at the restaurant. Sounds of the ocean right outside my room
Cons: No direct access to the beach
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very beautiful place and relaxing.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I stayed at this property for two nights on a mini-vacation. Based on previous reviews of the rooms, I was a little hesitant but I found my room to be a nice size, clean with a comfy bed, a nice table which gave a view of the ocean, chest of drawers, room on the counter for my cosmetics. There was only a shower, and not very large, but it worked fine and was clean. I would compare it to European boutique hotels. I stayed at the property for 2 1/2 days and had all my meals there. The restaurant has very good food for lunch and dinner; breakfast is basic but filling. Sitting by the pool and watching (and hearing) the ocean is a delight. Note that I did not see anyone go down on the beach so not sure if that is possible.
Cons: You have to watch our for the seagulls when eating on the patio. They like to steal your food when you are not watching! Room 3 did not have a clear view of the ocean, the staircase was in the way, but I could see it; other rooms do have a better view and only rooms on each end have their own, small patio (and cost more). This is note a true negative because it is so easy to go down to the patio and see the ocean.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is fabulous-right on the ocean with a long, walkable beach just a short walk away. Although we had to wait a while for service at the restaurant for dinner, sitting on the patio overlooking the ocean was delightful and the food was excellent.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Location and on site restaurant was great. The room had a lovely view of the ocean
Cons: Room smelled of old damp musty furniture which looks like it hasn’t been updated for decades. No counter space to put your personal items...just a very small bathroom sink which unfortunately was the only place with an outlet to charge my phone. That was annoying. All the rooms are above the very busy restaurant and pool area, so it’s extremely noisy at night... if you’re looking for a relaxing experience I suggest booking during the off-season. People were partying and running up and down the stairs slamming the gates until midnight....UGH!!! I had shut my window which really sucked because the ocean waves crashing on the rocks was so peaceful to listen to....And then the room became too hot and stuffy and the musty damp smells became almost unbearable.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Really enjoyed our stay. Ask for room 12.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location was spectacular. unparalleled beauty of waves cashing on the rocky shore. Our room was tiny and pretty much reflected the buildings age most likely built around 1945, with possible upgrades from the '60s. Because of that I feel even with the spectacular views it was overpriced.
Cons: Coffee maker and microwave should be provided.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The location was right on the ocean bluff
Cons: No parking for patrons that are staying in the hotel. Dirty rooms-> room has a distinct odor, the phone was sticky to the touch, old furniture that has not been dusted in ages, there is a patio that is old, rusty and there are tools there just laying around, yellow walk in showers. The staff in the front desk has a “I don’t care attitude”, it was all transaction. My husband and I decided to check out at 10pm. The same person that checked us in didn’t even ask why we are checking out early nor does she care...it was all transaction. The total bill for one night was $258...for $50 more you can get a better hotel nearby. There is a high rated restaurant on the property. My husband and I also had a horrible experience that we walked out. We had a reservation at 7:30pm...showed up and we were kept waiting standing around to get a table. No one greeted us for 10minutes. Finally got a table, served us water and bread. I one attended to us to get drink orders or our food order. We waited 15minutes then decided to walk out of the restaurant and to another restaurant that had better service and food choices.

Cons: There wasn’t an iron or ironing board in the room so we had to request it. There also was not a bag for dirty clothes.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Staff was rude when I walked into the room there was a flood with water on the tile I already paid for my room had to re-wait in line again instead of being taken care of. I will never go back to this hotel, door had no door sweep so spiders and bugs can just walk into the room
Cons: Staff was rude when I walked into the room there was a flood with water on the tile I already paid for my room had to re-wait in line again instead of being taken care of. I will never go back to this hotel, door had no door sweep so spiders and bugs can just walk into the room
6.8 Good
Pros: We were in Carpinteria for a Junior Lifeguard competition. I thought about staying in Santa Barbara because I don't really like motels. But, the whole team from Santa Cruz was staying down there, so I gave it a go! The Inn was clean, it did have a small pool and hot tub. We were able to walk down to the beach but I would not describe the beach as close. There was a mini fridge so I was able to get drinks for myself and the kids. There was plenty of parking in front and it was a quick walk to 7/11 when we needed a few things. There was a mini fridge The price was great, the staff were helpful, and I'd choose this one over any of the Motels 6 or other motels in town if I was staying here again
Cons: The room was pretty loud being so close to the highway, and the windows did not lock so I was a little uncomfortable sleeping with just me and my teen daughter and her friend. The wifi would not support streaming, but the TV had plenty to watch.
