Large rooms and very comfortable beds. Spotlessly clean and very helpful friendly staff. Our second stay here and will do so again - a great base for exploring downtown Charleston and excellent value for money. Slightly north of the pretty area but on Meeting Street and a few minutes walk to the restaurants and bars of King Street. Swimming pool, gym and laundry facilities a welcome bonus
The patterned corridor carpets - but I guess they're practical!
Location is fabulous.
Comfortable rooms, good breakfast, good happy hour
Inside hotel there is a little "store" for snacks, etc. We arrived Thursday and there were no water bottles for sale until Tuesday...very inconvenient. Bus stop outside hotel was a favorite place for homeless to nag us for money. One even got on the free shuttle with us to continue his nagging...the bus driver called the police
This is a great choice for a stay in Charleston. Close to King Street, that has plenty of restaurants and boutiques. Breakfast is good and the social evenings a great idea. Would definitely recommend.
We didn’t find anything not to like.
Breakfast was rather unremarkable when compared to local offerings just steps away, but hot and cold cereals and yogurt were available daily. Protein menu varied from day to day including various egg dishes such as cheese omelettes, sous vide egg bites, sausage patties or strips of bacon. Toast, make your own waffle, muffins were available, as were fruit juices, coffee, tea and fruit. Breakfast was served 6:30-9:30 AM Mon-Fri, 7:00-10:00 AM Sat and Sun. Fresh fruit is available 24/7 in the lobby and varied between oranges, apples or bananas. Evening offerings served Monday through Thursday 5:30-6:30 PM, was soup and salad bar, cheese, crackers, munchies, fresh veggies and dip, complimentary beer and wine. Various grocery items such as microwaveable meals, yogurt, ramen, ice cream, soup, chips, candy, snacks, etc., were available for purchase 24/7 at the front desk. Bottled water was available at no charge 24/7. Front desk also has a list of local restaurants for ordering food delivery. Front desk staff, hotel manager, bartenders, kitchen staff, and housekeeping were consistently attentive, friendly and helpful. Darnel always had a smile for us. Each of the valet staff were energetic, friendly, efficient and helpful, and added to the positive experience. We felt like family, not guests. If we were to return in the future, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
We needed an accessible room with two beds. When we arrived, it turned out the ADA rooms only had one king bed. In fairness, this is an issue at many chain hotels. Thomas moved us around to find the best accommodation and a shower stool and toilet riser were provided when requested. The rooms are quite spacious, with nice kitchen areas, a work desk and sofa sleeper/sitting area, so it was relatively easy to move around on a walker. We were near the elevator, but some rooms are far distant. If disabled, you may wish to request a room close to the elevator. Elevators worked well, arrived quickly, and we rarely had to wait. Property has pay laundry facilities on-site. Pool has a disabled lift. No handicap parking is available on property, but street metered parking is convenient and there is no need to feed the meter for vehicles displaying a valid handicap placard. Valet parking fee is $32 overnight or $18 per day, with in and out privileges which seems pricey. However, Charleston is very walkable, and the hotel is in a good location so a vehicle isn't mandatory for seeing the local sights. Check in desk is close to the entry drive.
