The setting and amenities at the Lodge are impeccable. We visited during the winter when many of the hiking options weren’t an option (at least for those of us with smaller kids) and there was still plenty of fun to be had. From the heated pools to playgrounds and trails for shorter hikes/walks to the local food options we had a full 3 days during our stay. We didn’t even have a chance to try out the Spa options. The only room for improvement was around the details of the stay. We booked a suite and had to specify that we had 4 in our party and the ages of our kids. Despite providing this information we arrived to a room with 2 towels and 1 wash cloth for a 3 night stay. To a similar point, the suite with 1 bed and a pull out sofa did not come with bedding for the sofa bed. Due to very understandable staffing issues in our current world it was about a 30 minute wait for each of these items (discovered them at different times). With the staffing difficulty it is even more impactful to have the details sorted out ahead of time so guests aren’t left waiting for necessary items. Overall I would definitely recommend the resort to a young family looking for a low key long weekend getaway.

Pros:Arrive in the daytime, or be prepared with flashlights. Parking at the lodge is very difficult when crowded. Use the valet parking, although it will cost you - $20. Very poor lighting - a safety issue and why I won’t ever go back. The poor lighting is bad for parking and navigating from car to hotel, but is a feature for the night sky, which is amazing. I had no hot water my first day. Food choices are limited and expensive, unless you want to navigate the difficult night parking situation and go into Roslyn or Cle Elum. Many restaurant choices are listed in the brochure, but few open while I was there in October, other than Portals, which is quite expensive. The food at Portals is tasty, but portions are huge, and not bad if you consider that you can make more than one meal out of it. There are great amenities in the rooms - full kitchen, plates, pots, pans, etc, with microwave, range, convection oven, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher. Rooms are palatial - kitchen, dinette, living room with fireplace, bedroom, bathroom with large bath and large shower. But the poorly lit walkways and difficult parking made me grumpy.
