I liked the traditional German feel to the place, lots of wood and the coziness. The breakfast feels like a proper breakfast a German grandma would serve. The shower and bathroom are both tiny but efficient. I like that big windows/bay doors that open for fresh air. in a somewhat seedy area and is much nicer inside than it appears from the outside. I will likely stay here again in the future.
The fact that there was no reservation at the hotel (even though I received tons of emails and reminders about the reservation) and they had no rooms available! This was a total disaster.
The staff were incredibly friendly, helpfu, and generous. The breakfast buffet was AMAZING--one of the best buffets we've seen in 15+ years of travelling. There was a wonderful selection of breads, fresh fruit and fruit salad, yogurts, cheeses, ham, cereals...truly, something for everyone with excellent quality and variety.
The beds were very uncomfortable--very soft and flimsy pillows. It's a shame, because the room was otherwise fine--spotlessly clean, functional. But the beds made it really hard to sleep at night. For the location: outside the main center of the city and in an uninspiring part of town, but within just a few minutes of the metro stop, so it wasn't at all inconvenient or difficult to get into the city center very quickly.
the hotel is quiet, I had real home impression. Besides it's located only 3 tram stops from KolnMesse and tram trasfers are free for show time (fair ticket is necessary)
rooms are not supplied with home slippers and WiFi internet access
Quite friendly staff on reception, good breakfast offer
Noisy location, no net connection in rooms, small room with cheap furniture, small breakfast room. They did not accept credit cards, I had to pay by cash (230 EUR total for 2 nights). The worst hotel which I stayed in last 3 years.
