Staff were so happy, The room had a great heater, thank goodness! the staff were super and cooked us our own bacon and eggs before leaving them!
our double room was small and had no fridge though which would have been nice given you could be there early at night during the cold storms. The beds could have been up in the loft which would provide way more space for luggage as my partner and I had brought 23kg suitcases each.
Hospitable, helpful and very nice, friendly staff: SUPER nice humble people. Mr Sakamoto was really helpful and even knelt next to our room's heater for a good 10 minutes to help us fix it. Not sure what he really did to be honest (maybe spoke morse code to it) cuz he just sat next to it and looked at it. But after his 10 minute meditation beside the heater it stopped malfunctioning for the next few nights! So that's great anyway! Breakfast: They delicately cooked and handmade 3-4 dish meal for us on one day and the presentation was so meticulous and nice it was hard to not want to try everything! (It was a bit much for us before the slopes but we enjoyed it thoroughly) and the chef (unfortunately forgot his name) came out to chat with us afterwards. Really made us feel right at home! Helpful staff (cont): When we were looking for places to eat, Mr Yori was very helpful and gave us plenty of suggestions when we asked him - even gave us some suggestions for drinks and night life exploration! Best Part: Most important of all the main door is literally 5 steps from one of the Goryu slope chair lifts!!!! ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. I swear we woke up in the mornings to go up the chair lift and just carved down to Escal Plaza for breakfast. Also amazing to know if we'd left something at our room we could just shred back down and grab it and be back on the slopes within 5 minutes! The rooms were simple and comfortable. We got a two floor complex that had 2 beds below, and 2 tatami beds upstairs. Our room was facing one of the Goryu slopes and the chair lifts. That was what we woke up to every morning - quite spectacular indeed! Note that these are definitely not going to be 6-star golden-toilet-bowl-luxury rooms, but are very homely and cozy rooms. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. (We were two guys - snowboard addicts - just here for 4 days of boarding on the slopes with magnificent scenery. Nothing more (maybe a few drinks too).
Only issue was the hotel was quite far from most restaurants and night life, so most of the bars and stuff were not convenient walking distance (nearer to Escal plaza, or alternately can go to Echoland). Had to take a cab if we missed the night ski bus that goes to Escal Plaza (cabs are pricey!! D:<) be sure to plan where you want to go at night first and don't miss the free shuttle buses! It's freezing and very slippery if you just walk in the snow! GOOD FOOD BTW: Highly recommend Restaurant R that's about 5-10 mins by car. (Not an advert, I just seriously enjoyed the food) - very cozy place for dinner. Family owned business provides FREE REFILLS FOR RICE AND SOUP YO (depending what you order). That's the main reason for this recommendation hahaha. It's super great for guys who always complain about being hungry - like me! Also great staff who speak fluent English and can probably teach you some Japanese! Heart-warming homely food. 100% would go again.
The location was great. Ski in ski out.
Their rental skis were not the best quality

I love the location to the ski and snowboard rentals and school.
