10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was just lovely. We stayed here on the night of our wedding. The staff had all been informed so there was even a tray of chocolates on check in and a glass of champagne at dinner! The room was absolutely enormous with all the trappings of a medieval castle, right down to the huge four poster bed, velvet curtains and tapestries. A true time warp with a tour of the battlements and excellent history presentation in the morning. The staff would have bent over backwards for literally anything we needed.
Cons: We had to leave!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was just as we’d hoped. The grounds were lovely, the interiors were stunning, the food was scrumptious, and the staff welcomed and accommodated us like we were royalty. We stayed in the Radcliffe Room - which with its bath is much larger than many homes (wow). The traditional sauna in its extremely large bathroom was an ideal way for us to end our perfect day exploring the many historic places around Hexham, including Hadrian’s Wall. We were only here for one night - just long enough to insure that we’ll be back!

Pros: Extremely welcoming owners and very lovely staff. Very dog friendly. Small but cosy bar area which had a lovely roaring fire. I stayed in the blue room, clean and comfortable. Lovely breakfast freshly cooked, you could taste it was good quality bacon. Evening meal of chicken, mushroom and haggis pie was very nice. Dog walking facilities nearby.
Cons: Bathroom was quite snug and the sink was on the small size as the room available was limited and mirror placed quite low because of the eaves. The large bedroom mirror might have been better swapped with the painting sited on the other side of the room where there was more space and nearer a plug point for hairdryer. Cooked breakfast wasn't available before 8.30 am. But I was able to get cereal, coffee and toast at 8 am and a bacon sandwich was offered.

Pros: A lovely friendly welcoming place to stay. The manager, Ken, was very knowledgable about the area and the history and was very generous with his time, nothing was too much trouble. 6.3 Good
Pros: The location and views are good
Cons: I did not get the room I requested
5.8 Okay
Pros: Nice property, comfortable beds
Cons: Pool was dirty, could feel grit / dirt when standing at side if pool Need a pillow menu. Pillows too flat and said they were all the same when asked to change them. Asked for more coffee sachets and only given decaf
5.8 Okay
Pros: The property grounds are lovely and we picked the hotel due to it being close to Healy Barn (we had a wedding there)
Cons: Overall considering we are from the North East originally (currently live in Amsterdam) this hotel was a major let down. It’s tired and not worthy of a 4 star, we have the opportunity to stay in many hotels with work and leisure and this was below average especially as we paid €229 for x2 nights. The room was cluttered, tired and simple things like providing water etc weren’t present. The bathroom taps were rusty and towels needed a refresh. I tried to ring reception 3 times and the phone wasn’t picked up, something for a 4 star rated hotel should not happen. The spa was ok and breakfast was 5/10 not great for vegetarians or people with food intolerances. I think they seem to survive on the 60+ age set and golfers which of course is fine but I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for a young couple who are used to a true 4 star experience.
7.9 Good
Pros: The bed & room were good
Cons: The food left a lot to be desired The last twice I have been the food has not been as good as I had expected. Looking at the menu this time & eating a pizza on wed night, we decided to eat out on Thursday night
