There are plenty of speed cameras across the island too, which is further motivation to take things easy behind the wheel. Another good reason for driving a bit slower is that the roads aren’t all signposted, so you’ll have to rely on your sat nav instructions for much of the time. It also pays to be on the lookout for drivers who may be over the limit during holiday season. Other than that, driving yourself around to the island’s many landmarks is safe and easy.

To drive in Ibiza you need to be 21 years of age or older, and must have held your driving licence for at least two years. So that’s a personal legal restriction that car hire companies adhere to. There are also different classes of cars that have age restrictions – you’ll only be able to hire more powerful cars and premium vehicles from the age of 23. Remember to carry your driver’s licence with you at all times while driving on the island.
