7.5 Good
Pros: The staffs are nice and helpful. The breakfast is great. Although the room is small but the design is good to compensate the inconvenient caused by small room size.
Cons: The double room is a bit small for two people. The price is a bit high when it is compared to other hotels in similar city in Japan (in regard of city size and popularity).

Pros: The location was convenient, next to the station and close to one of the main temples. Many complementary things to choose from. And the also have public baths there
Cons: Apart from one temple there was not that much to do around. But the hotel was great. You need a car to see something more in the area of Ise, that's what we did

Pros: We enjoyed the spa there!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice remote location, nice looking restaurant and overall building.
Cons: Not value for money. Dinner and breakfast very basic considering the price and in comparison to other ryokans. Hot spring facility also basic for the price.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room may be small but it is very cosy and comfortable for 1-2 people. Within the vicinity, there are a lot of options for the guest such as the supermarket, Daiso, baskin robins and more. Breakfast comes in buffet style and has many options for different preferences. Staffs are very friendly and willing to help out should you have any queries or worries. There are public baths for both genders separately to wash up and soak for relaxing time. The whole hotel gives up a very luxurious vibe even though its a smaller sized hotel.
Cons: Breakfast timing starts at 6.30am and ends at 9am, so people who prefer to sleep in may miss out on breakfast.

Cons: It is quite a bit far away from Ise-shi station.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious rooms in Japanese style Comfortable futon, air conditioning and heater The building is a a ryokan since the late 40’s They made some wheelchair accessible rooms which is uncommon in old buildings Great breakfast Nice common bath
Cons: Since the building is old there is no noise insolation You might hear your neighbors brushing teeth in the corridor or crows fighting outside, but that’s how it should be in such an old building!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very spacious rooms with authentic interior. Very good location right next to the station. Very nice onsen. Delicious breakfast. English-speaking staff. Washing machines + detergent can be used for free. Clean, comfortable. Overall A+. Perfect complimentary stay to the beautiful city of Ise.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything is quite nice, the hotel is like a museum. The best thing is there’s washing machine and dryer which help us big time.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is right around the corner from Iseshi Station and is an easy walk to shops and restaurants on Geku-mae and the Geku shrine complex. While it *is* possible to walk all the way to the Naiku shrines, there is convenient bus service from Iseshi station. The staff speaks English and the service was friendly and hospitable. My traditional room was spotlessly clean, well appointed and comfortable. A full Japanese breakfast can be ordered and served in your room and it was a feast: rice, salmon, pickles, vegetables, salads and miso soup, plus tea.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Onsen is very nice. The staff is very courteous and helpful. Location is great. The traditional Japanese room was large and beautiful. We loved the place.
Cons: A little hard to find as the name of the ryokan was not in English so we walk right past it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: excellent service, cozy and spacious room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful kind staff and a classic ryokan experience. A wonderful family run bed and breakfast. Great location and good price.
Ise Inter Business Hotel Hane - Ise - Building

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Property with good price located near the small railway station Isuzugaoka. It is good location if you plan to visit the Meoto Iwa or the Ninja Kingdom in the east. You will get tasty breakfast and can use a little indoor onsen (only if you do not have any visible tattoos).
Cons: The location is far from the city center and Grand Shrine. Also the hotel building is marked only in japanese so you need to check beforehand. The entrance from the direction of railway station is located on the 3rd floor. You need to go through the garage and take a lift.
6.3 Good
Pros: Friendly breakfast service.
Cons: The stairway up to the entrance. I expected an alternative to be offered when we walk with crutches. But no and no help offered. We arrived in pouring rain around 13:30 and were told that we couldn't check in until 15:00. No English spoken - just "15:00" written on a piece of paper. Floor 2 smelled of smoke and was dark and gloomy. There is no restaurant altho the description says there is. We had to drive again as there appears to be nothing in walking distance.
4.2 Okay
Pros: The front desk staff person was friendly. There were many choices on the breakfast buffet.
Cons: The hotel was not named Business Hotel Hane Ise Inter. I looked everywhere for Business Hotel Hane Ise Inter and went inside what I thought was another hotel to ask and it had changed to a different name. I wanted a non-smoking room, but the entire hotel was smoking. The room carpet was dirty with many cigarette burns and the room had a stale smoke smell.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very stylish guesthouse, with unique room structure. Facilities were sufficient and convenient. It is an excellent choice for solo travellers. Staffs were nice and friendly, especially the staff at the reception. The gentleman can speak very fluent English, and we had a happy talk, on my Kumano Kodo trip, and my exploration and findings in Japan. Thank you so much!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Warm atmosphere with travelers coming and going. I loved the natural wood structure and furniture design. Nice to have a tree inside the building. Friendly and helpful staff, felt very welcome and comfortable. I found everything that I needed for a short stay in Ise. Pictures correspond to what you actually get.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: A very comfortable and relaxing hostel. Very much a family friendly atmosphere.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Confortable and beautiful guesthouse Very calm and well located
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly and it was a very cute place.
Cons: There needed to be greater regulation of guests making ridiculous amounts of noise (with bags, showering, using hairdryers very late ).
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful guest house with very nice staff. It was clean and cozy, close to the inner shrine and two stations. I was in search of a vegan restaurant so one of the workers actually offered to cook for me for a very fair price. Great experience over all!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: One of the most beautiful, cosy and relaxing guesthouse I’ve ever been too. The wood everywhere gives it a peaceful atmosphere. Everything is clean and looks very new. There’s everything that you need from the kitchen to the bathroom essentials. The staff is amazing and it almost feels like your at home with them!
Cons: The mattress is a tiny bit thin but I slept really well!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very charming, friendly staff, great facilities, comfortable bed, and close to some very good restaurants.
Cons: can't complain
Ise Guesthouse Tsumugiya - Hostel - Ise - Bedroom

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Ise Guesthouse Tsumugiya - Hostel in Ise, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Ise Grand Shrine and Meoto Iwa (Wedded Rocks). Featured amenities include luggage storage and laundry facilities.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The guesthouse is an old typical japanese house, full of charm. Tomomi-san and Misato-san are both really dedicated to their guests. I really enjoy my stay here. Too bad I've only booked here for 1 day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: amazingly clean, and the host is amazingly friendly
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent host: very decent wooden home. Very local.
6.7 Good
Pros: The House was very beautiful, the other guests were sweet and very sociable.
Cons: The host was very weird, made me feel uncomfortable and not welcome at all. Felt like a beggar invading her home instead of like a paying customer. Sadly, the host was very „present“, being happy with a selected few, which made things even weirder. Was happy to change my accommodation after one day. The other place actually was the exact opposite, so: Thank you for being weird and distances, you made me run into the right direction.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Quaint traditional building with very charming decor! It's one of the homier feeling places I've stayed at. The location is really convenient and in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to a convenience store if needed. We really enjoyed the variety of different areas to sit and relax, and it was great to be able to get a room where three people could really comfortably stay with room to spread out.
Cons: If you are a really light sleeper (like myself), you might have a little difficulty with the windows - since it is an older building, the window panes (at least in the private room) rattled, even with the passing of people in the hall. One of the friends I stayed with completely slept through it without any issues, and I'm used to not sleeping well away from home, so just check in with what sort of sleeper you are.
7.0 Good
Pros: Although the hostel itself is very small, it is very cozy with the nice smell of the wooden house. You can feel the traditional Japanese vibe here.
Cons: The female dorm is very small. It is a bit hard to climb down from the upper bed. Also, they only have two shower rooms in the house.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Cozy wonderful atmosphere. Charming decorations.
Cons: A little uncertain of the safety of some wiring and electrical stuff but otherwise perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was close to the station. Staff was friendly and guest house was authentically japanese.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very well located and very friendly greetings from the owner, who speaks perfect English. She gave us plenty of good tips. I really recommend this place.
Cons: Maybe a slightly bigger kitchen, but that's a minor point.

Overview Reviews

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Room size was great, and the private bath was lovely!
Cons: Got the impression at check in that it was problematic to be the one to receive foreign guests, or that it was an unwanted task to be given.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and cleanliness - 1 minute from JR Ise-shi station and about 10 min straight walk to Ise-Jingu Geku; private hot tub outside of the room; fantastic breakfast; spacious and comfortable room; comfortable lobby - complimentary drinks and sweets were available; amenities including skin lotions, shampoo & conditioner, choose-your-own room wear (yukata), pajamas, socks for the yukata, toothbrush, wash rug, tea & coffee, etc.
Cons: None. I was completely satisfied with the service and facility.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: This is an excellent ryokan-style hotel which also has western-style rooms. The restaurant (kaiseki style) is very good, with interesting menus for each of the tow nights I stayed (including Ise lobster, which is celebrated in Japan). The location is ideal, as the hotel is directly opposite Iseshi JR station and close to the Geku shrine with the bus stop for Naiku shirine (10 minutes' ride) in front of the station.

Pros: Delicious dinner and breakfast, close to train station.
Cons: There was dust on the headboard.

Cons: It is a bit dirty, location isn't good too
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hostel located just in the center - close to everything you need. The crew is nice and welcoming abd we even had dinner together. Go to Ise, its fun there!
Cons: Just a little bit of cleaning in the toilet and bathroom in the second bulding could be amazing.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location was good and the price was reasonable.
Cons: Although it was cheap at ¥3500 I expected a proper bed not a blow up mattress. A proper mattress wouldn’t be too expensive.

Pros: Good price. Friendly staff.

Hoshidekan - Ise - Building

8.7 Excellent (428 reviews)

Located 500 metres from Kintetsu Iseshi Train Station, Hoshidekan Ryokan (a member of the Japanese Inn Group) is a wooden building that was built in the 1920's and provides Japanese-style rooms with free WiFi, an LCD TV and traditional futon bedding. It has shared bath and a courtyard garden. Rooms at Hoshidekan have paper screens, a tatami (woven-straw) floor and a low wooden table. An air conditioner, slippers and green tea are provided. Bathrooms and toilets are shared. The Geku Ise Shrine is a 18-minute walk from the hotel. On-site parking is free and requires a reservation. The hotel has baths that can be reserved for private use, and a free-use internet station is provided at the lobby. A coin launderette is available. Guests staying with a meal plan will be served Japanese breakfast in the dining room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staffs were nice and polite, helpful. The atmosphere is nice and traditional. Onsen is good.
Cons: One of the shower was not hot enough, the stream of the other one was a bit small. The pot in the room is small, couldn’t find hot water during night if not want to disturb the staff. The floor was creaky when people was passing by in the corridor due to the wooden structure. Not to complain but for light sleepers better consider it.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the beautiful garden and friendly welcome from the owner. We also appreciated the tea and biscuits that was left for us. It was also interesting to explore the area behind the hotel...
Cons: I would have preferred a separate shower to use if you didn't want to use the onsen but appreciate that this is an old property and many will enjoy that facility. We only stayed one night so this wasn't an issue.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: An authentic ryokan experience. Lovely old house. Very pretty and nice Japanese breakfast in a Traditional setting. Staff were friendly and helpful and we rented bikes from them to cycle to the Ise shrine.
Cons: The beds are traditional style with futon on the floor. We didn’t find this comfortable but that’s because we are used to western beds.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Perfect staffs
Cons: Better to have a heater under the table in the room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staying here felt like traveling back in time. It was a peaceful space, and very comfortable. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was simple, but satisfying. The communal bath was an extra treat!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a beautiful property and the rooms are large and well appointed. Our room was very comfortable and the deck with spa was a real benefit. The surrounding area was wooded and quiet. The staff was gracious and attentive and the breakfast was very good. A free shuttle left and returned to the property on a reasonable schedule.
Cons: The location is a bit remote, so it was necessary to take the shuttle to the railway station or major attractions, something I considered well compensated for by the quiet wooded property. The TV periodically activated automatically and spoke of the services offered by the hotel--this occurred about 4-5 times a day. Although we speak enough Japanese to get by, others who have no Japanese language skills may struggle a bit to communicate with the staff.
