Tuana The Phulin Resort

I'm 75 years old and on arrival I was shown building B and told that there was no elevator to my room on the 4th floor but nobody at the reception offered to carry my suitcase to that floor and it was done only after I asked for help.

Only good thing is its near the night markets and the main shops restaurants and bars.

Rooms are run down. We don’t mind basic as we are backpackers but general cleanliness is still essential. The pillows smelt of damp and the shower broke daily. At one point there was a loud bang outside our room as if something had blown up and the power all went off. It did not sound safe. The ‘engineer’ had to come up to our room daily to fix the hot water which is annoying when you have to keep going to reception just for a shower. The pool was ok but sun beds wooden and uncomfortable to lie on. There is a few tables and chairs at the front of the hotel (not used for the restaurant) we were told we can’t sit and eat food from outside or its a 500 baht fine but they will still let people smoke their cigarettes on there. Reception staff don’t speak basic english apart from one girl so if you have an issue you cant really get an answer until she is back on her shift.

Nothing special at all

The rooms has mold and sponge in the ceiling, bed seriously stinking of sweat that is difficult to sleep on, very disgusting. You will receive used towels and the cleaning is so so bad, they don’t even give you a new one if you dont ask about it. And they smell freaking bad. The humidity in the rooms is very bad and we did probably get sick of it even when there is aircondition in the rooms. In my 4 nights there, my first room gets so bad after 3 nights that we needed to change room and we could feel the new room was getting in the same way with humidity. In our 2 day they suddenly wanted to upgrade us to a supereor room, but we had a tour atm so we said we could move our luggage later and they agreed. When we came to the reception after our tour they had gave the room away. Pool is disgusting too, dont expect too see the pool like in the pictures. There was only russians in the hotel :)

Hot water was unavailable, even after signaling the stuff they tried to fix but it was just for half a day. the next day it was the air conditioner that broke down. apart from that the hotel is really good !
