The guesthouse is not so close to the Central Station of Kyoto, but it is very close to the Golden Pavilion. Profile photos are not so current. The guesthouse is run by Mrs. Tani, who wakes up at 3 am to prepare breakfast for all her guests. She is so kind and she tried to make us feel comfortable. If you are looking for comfort, do not consider the Tani House; if you are a traveler who adapts, you will have no problems.
I hope for sustainable tourism; help take away the garbage or create as little as possible.
This is a simple, historic, family-run guesthouse in an old house nestled in bamboo in a great neighborhood next to Daitokuji Temple. Mrs. Tani is extremely helpful and kind and puts out a good breakfast every morning. The air-conditioning and wifi were excellent, but otherwise this is not intended to be a modern city hostel. This is a real, old-fashioned guesthouse--old and new tatami, lovely old windows that rattle in the wind, simple shared kitchen, sinks, toilets, and showers. The futon and bedding was clean and comfortable. The neighborhood has some really good affordable restaurants (ask about the soba place) and the guesthouse is on several major bus lines to it's easy to get downtown. About a 10/15-minute walk to the Kamogawa river.
I will call you asap. The only good thing is the old woman but for other points, it is a scam, the worse hotel I ever booked in my life.
Breakfast was very generous and great
