I liked the professional staff at the reception and their prompt response to everything. There's a sense of a luxury resort where the staff knows who you are. I also enjoyed the attention to detail and immaculate cleanliness of the room and of all hotel areas. The location was incredible and everything was kept to a very high standard.
I couldn't find anything that wasn't top-notch, and that's coming from someone who previously worked in the hospitality space and usually book high-end hotels. It's a really impressive hotel.
Staff very friendly and helpfull. Hotel maybe should have 4 stars but not 5.
Once we got our room, it was very comfortable. For reasons that were never really explained, our room wasn't ready when promised (at 3 pm). So, we went out and explored the city. When we arrived back at 5 pm, we were told our room still wasn't ready. They parked us in their VIP area, which was nice, but we would have rather had our room. I had to cloud up on the staff around 6 pm, as a result of which we finally got a room. Very disappointing, especially for this price.
They were too busy and I think had oversold the hotel.
Nice modern hotel with all the amenities. Did not eat at hotel but did enjoy the Roof top pool and bar at sunset. We were upgraded to a nicer room with any request. Check in staff was great.
The staff at reception was exceptionally kind and helpful. We had a beautiful room, granted we had asked for a super deluxe. Breakfast was really good. and we loved everything about this hotel: the room, the cleanliness, the staff, everything.
The churros !!
In the artistic and cultural heart of Madrid, a short walk from some of the most important monuments in the city, such as the Royal Palace, the Teatro Real and the Almudena Cathedral, behind its magnificent façade the Gran Meliá Palacio de los Duques combines vintage splendour with a delicate contemporary sensibility. This fascinating palace, located on the site of what was the most important convent in Europe in the 13th century, the Convent of Santo Domingo, maintains the character and elegance of the original structure: the residence of the Dukes of Granada de Ega, and has a a beautiful and historically important garden. Elegant, exquisitely designed rooms that capture the moment and make it eternal. More than just a luxury hotel, the Gran Melia Palacio is a canvas that inspired a most extraordinary way of life. Located in the heart of the Spanish capital, a city with 73 museums, including the Prado, the Reina Sofía and the Thyssen Bornemisza, and home to such major works such as Picasso’s Guernica, The Second of May by Goya and Velázquez’s Meninas, the source of inspiration in the interior design of the hotel and driving element in all its rooms.
