Simple basic Pensione in a nice area. Clean rooms , air-con , shower. Helpful manager, but 3 floors up and no elevator.
A little hard to find, not much signage and 3 floors to carry your case up.
Very nice host who made sure I knew how to get into the building. Room was very clean. Functional shower in room.
Sheet was super thin. Was very loud at night due to guests moving and water usage. Walls must be super thing. Had trouble sleeping.
The service. They level of service offered my the staff feels like you are in a 5 star hotel.
Nothing to dislike. All around good place.
Great location in walking distance to Palacio Real,Parque de el Retiro,Museo del Prado. Close to Metro stations.Comfy bed, quite and secure place. Highly recommended.
The water in the toilet can be off at night time and in the morning.
Great pension within easy walking distance of Gran Via & Sol. Very friendly greeting from Antonio; check-in was fast and simple - despite it being 11pm. Communication prior to my stay was also very prompt and helpful. I had a single en-suite room. Although it was simply furnished, it had everything you might need for a short stay, except drinks facilities (I only stayed one night, and I knew in advance that there were no drinks facilities) The room overlooked an internal courtyard, and had a large window with external blind and also a curtain across the window, so it was possible to partially lower the blind and yet still have some air coming in the room at night, without being overlooked by the windows opposite. Equally, the air conditioning & WiFi worked superbly well. The bed was perfect for me - a nice firm mattress and pillow - but that might not be to everyone's liking. Most importantly, the bed didn't squeak every time one turned over, as they so often do in cheaper accommodation! The en-suite was understandably small, but it worked for me. The shower was modern and clean - far nicer than I imagined it would be at 35 euros a night. The toilet was also in the en-suite, but the sink was in the bedroom. Both were very clean, and it didn't inconvenience me that the sink wasn't in the en-suite. I had my own toiletries, but there was a bottle of shower gel left on the sink. The room had a wardrobe, desk and chair, a bedside table and lamp, and at least 4 spare sockets - unheard of! Despite being fairly small, the room didn't feel cramped in any way. I had plenty of space to open my suitcase, and to spread my things about. The whole room was very clean and comfortable; I was extremely impressed for the price, especially at such a great central location. As a single female traveller, I felt extremely safe in the local area, despite the fact that it was 11pm by the time I arrived.
There wasn't anything that I didn't like. However, these are some observations that may help other potential guests: My room was down a quiet corridor at the farthest point from the main door, which I was grateful for. Even so, I heard some people arriving and leaving at various times, as they weren't quiet about it. Thankfully it didn't massively affect my sleep. I also heard some showers being used early in the morning, but I certainly wasn't affected by hearing other people's conversations or any other noise issues. I knew that the pension was up two flights of stairs without a lift, but I only had hand luggage and am fairly fit, so it wasn't an issue for me. However, it could be for older guests or those with a lot of heavy luggage. Personally, the only thing that would be the icing on the cake for this pension, would be to have the possibility of having a drink in the room - but that doesn't detract from the whole very positive experience of staying there. There are plenty of cafes nearby for breakfast too. Don't be put off by the external view of the building - this pension is worth every penny! It's also on a pedestrianised street, and I heard no external noise whatsoever.
