Everyone was friendly and we had very nice conversations with the people from the hotel who never get tired about helping - thank you so much! The breakfast was fantastic as well and the restaurant and backyard nice to spent time in the evening for a drink.

Pros: Cute place not far from the city center. The room was very spacious and comfortable and the AC cooled the room off quick after a hot day! The best part about the hotel was the staff. They were incredibly welcoming and kind and willing to answer any and all of my questions. They took an interest in me as a guest and recommended things for me to do during my stay. Breakfast was also fantastic each morning- something new every day!

Cons: Too bad there's no pool.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: A copious breakfast is served at your table every day, with a different warm egg dish each time and homemade jam, dulce de leche and local honey. The rooms are very beautifully decorated and clean. Walking distance from the Plaza Grande, but Uber is all over Merida so that's an option too. Staff is extremely hospitable, nice, and knowledgeable about the area. Special shout out to Mariana for making us feel like old friends.
Cons: None.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were there for my wife's 50th birthday. The hotel staff was spectacular in helping me organize some surprises for her on her special day. They were also helpful in organizing private tours to the ruins and areas around Merida. The hotel is perfectly located a block off the main plaza and in the heart of the up and coming restaurant area and maybe a 15 minute walk to the Paseo Montejo. If you want to experience the feel of one of the old Merida homes, this would be a good option.

Pros: Attractive
Cons: Has to eat outside .bitten by mosquitos. No way to escape
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It is beautifully maintained building. The road on the Main Street isn’t that great but once you get in, it’s quiet and chilled place. The breakfast was amazing and huge volume, and staff were very helpful to meet my requests. My room was massive, but seating ideas might be required for more than 2 travelers. The internet worked perfectly, and enough pressure of the hot water.
Cons: It’s a bit off from the main square, and particularly the first 2 blocks to the center were sort of deserted and I worried a bit to walk back in the evening. It was probably the off season but the pool wasn’t maintained.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Te attention to every detail majes you effectively feel as you are living in your house in Merida of XIX century. Room is enormous and lovely decorated. The house invites you to relax and contemplate, with quiet halls and silence rooms. I haven't had such a good sleep and rest in a while

6.3 Good
Pros: Free parking. Breakfast is good but be aware that all hot beverages are of additional price
Cons: Hotel is truly old and the only thing left from the former greatness is the hall. Rooms are tiny and extremely dark (even in bathroom where the light is mostly needed). We had some problems with water sinks as mechanisms were partly inoperative. We lived upper floor and our day started from construction works and loud talks (walls seem to be very thin) of staff at 8.15

Cons: Too bright in the morning due to the sun. Perhaps thicker curtains.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I loved the hotel. The room was spacious. The breakfast buffet was excellent every morning during our stay. The pool was clean. It was not far from the Merida Central.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Rooms are clean with air condition that is not too noisy! WIFI worked well. Parking space for your own car available and that was very helpful in the city. The location is very good as you will be in the center (old part with markets and new part of Merida easily accessed by walking). Breakfast: Buffett with hot and cold dishes and a very good standard - you will easily find something you like (vegetarians as well!) In the Breakfast area however it is very noisy and you will experience Mexican live music - so it is a vibrant start into the day wether you like it or not!
Cons: Dresscode for breakfast should be communicated to all staff. We got seated and after 2min we had to leave again because we were not dressed according to regulations (sleeves). This could have been avoided at the entrance ;-)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is very nice, clean, good wifi, very good breakfast and perfect location. I would definitely stay again.
Cons: The room was really small and with little natural light. We could also hear music from outside, but not too loud.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We told the hotel it is our honeymoon and we got special arrangement
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was a feast, extremely inclusive and tasty. The room was spotlessly clean, and had everything, although some tea would have been nice along with the coffee. The overall quality of the hotel made it one of the best I have ever stayed in, especially at such a bargain price.
Cons: Overall, the staff were very attentive and smiling but many were a little officious and lacking customer care skills.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The facilities are great! It' really my favorite place to stay in Merida because you it delivers on the same quality service every single time. The breakfast buffet is unbelievable and really takes the prize. We just love it.
Cons: There were a couple staff members that could be a bit more friendly and hospitable. We found one of the bell boys at the entrance of the hotel to be a little rude and not having a good day. Perhaps it was the weather!

Pros: Good buffet for brunch. More breakfast items would be great.
Cons: Bathtub plug didnt work. Bubble bath soap would have been nice. Pillows were too thick.
9.6 Excellent
Cons: I thought the hotel was a good value but was very disappointed that Booking.com does not give you the final price. Will probably go back to Expedis.
6.7 Good
Pros: Location is great. Staff very helpfull and responsive.
Cons: Very noisy enough to disturb sleelp. There was a smell of humidity and pillows excessively inconfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast buffet was good but our tummies did not agree with it.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It's a well-kept hotel. The air conditioner was silent and effective, the bed was comfortable. The amenities were a nice touch.
Cons: The fact that the car had to be valet parked, and there was no general information in the room. I had no way of knowing check out times, if there was room service, what time the restaurant opened and closed etc. Those things are nice to know. The card key system could be a problem for some who might be unfamiliar with that system. It's always good to know if you step outside the room without taking the key out of the wall, you are locked out. None of these were major issues for me because I was only staying one day, but they could be issues for others.

Pros: swimming pool on the rooftop (although shallow - more to hold a drink & chat) friendly staff located on top of the boulevard with restaurants galore

Intercontinental Hotels Presidente Merida - Mérida - Building

Overview Reviews
Once a Spanish general’s stately mansion, this Merida luxury hotel blends colonial elegance with modern convenience. Relax on our outdoor terrace and enjoy the finest tequila selection in the city. Explore historic Yucatán and the tree-lined splendor of Paseo de Montejo, once Mexico’s wealthiest district. This Merida luxury hotel is also well placed to explore the area’s fascinating heritage, including Uxmal and the ancient Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The food service and staff in the restaurant are fabulous.
6.3 Good
Pros: Easy to find in Merida and convenient to park - decent size, clean and quiet hotel room with a comfortable king-size bed.
Cons: Highly unprofessional staff which is really uncommon and even quite shocking for the Intercontinental Brand. We did not feel welcomed in any way ; on the contrary. As the most striking example : the fridge/mini-bar in the room is locked with a key which they did not provide us with - only until after a deposit of 1,000 peso was made (!?). Because this experience in Merida was so disappointing, we decided NOT to stay in the Intercontinental Hotel in Cancun (which had been our original plan). I would advise Intercontinental to train the staff in client-friendliness
6.2 Good
Pros: Location, quietness
Cons: Bathroom, a/c, concierge service, quality
7.5 Good
Pros: Lobby
Cons: Parking
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We had a king size bed which was very comfy!! Free parking in the middle of the city. Very good breakfast buffet. Aircon silent. Good Internet.
Cons: Though the hotel is more on the luxury side it gets old. The shower made weird sounds. There is a hd tv but the entertainment software and quality is from the 90s (we plugged it off und used our fire tv stick ;). Pool is tiny but enough for a dip in.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The beds were very comfortable and the shower was very nice.
Cons: Having to pay for extra tea and coffee was really annoying, especially having paid what we did for the room. Why is the concierge on the second floor!, my key did not fit the door for me to gain access. Small swimming pool.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Awesome hotel. Like staying in a museum.
Cons: No fridge in room unless you unlocked mini bar.
6.3 Good

Pros: It is a luxury hotel with plenty of additional services and amenities at (close to) Mexican prices. The location of it is very convenient, right at the beginning of one main street with lots of cafes and eateries, leading into historic Merida.
Cons: The swimming pool area was a bit of a disappointment. It is a very small deck with like 6 loungers crammed right between the hotel wings. No sun reaches there at any time and having two people on the deck already feels crowded so don't count on using it. Also, the WiFi signal was strong everywhere but the connection was inconsistent, constantly cutting out for short periods of time. Checking mail and messaging was fine, but not good at all for VoIP calls or god forbid, streaming.
6.2 Good
Pros: Location, easy check-in, check-out, breakfast buffet
Cons: Bathroom design, surroundings outside window
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed! Super comfortable and big. Shower was great. Location was a short walk or taxi. Staff amazing and excellent at helping us with onward travel.
Cons: Having stayed in The Intercontinental around the world, it was a little dated, although the price reflected that.
6.3 Good
Pros: THE BREAKFAST WAS EXCELLENT. THE HOTEL IS WELL LOCATED. BUT THE BUILDING, ELEVATORS, POOL, ROOM SERVICES ARE OLD AND SLOW. THE POOL TOO SMALL AND THE LOBBY BAR TO SMALL ALSO. I WOULD RATHER STAY AT THE FIESTA AMERICANA ONE BLOCK AWAY NEXT TIME AND I AM AN IHG MEMBER.
Cons: THE ROOM TOO LOUSY, IT WAS COMMUNICATED WITH THE OTHER ROOM.THE LIGHTING IS OLD. THERE IS NO SERVIBAR SERVICE. AND THE ROOM SERVICE IS TOO SLOW. THE POOL IS TOO SMALL AND A LOT OF CHILDREN FOR SUCH AN SMALL POOL. THE GYMNASIUM IS REALLY RIDICULOUS. ONLY 4 PIECES OF EQUIPMENT AND NO BODY BULIDING AND IT WAS ALWAYS CLOSED AND HOT.

Pros: The location in a very nice garden with beautiful swimming pool. The kindliness of the staff. Easy access by car to the center of Merida.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The grounds, the bathrooms, the beds, the service, the pools, the gardens, the food. The pet-friendly policy!
Cons: There was nothing outright negative about our stay. It was delightful. The rooms could feature some more art and the beds could include a heavier comforter/bedspread since the A/C is necessary and gets the room very cold. Despite that, the bedding was great and we slept really well.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is beautiful!! We were staying for 1 night only but we loved the hotel that much that we book for 2 extra nights Staff very friendly and helpful
Cons: The hotel is not in the town center, however it did work well for us as we preferred a quite place
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The place is really nice but too far away from downtown. You need to get uber or taxi or hace your own rental. The neighborhood not very nice. Maybe the hotel should offer a shuttle
Cons: The area where the hotel is located. It gets noisy st night
7.9 Good
Cons: It didn't appear to be kept in the best condition and seemed a bit past its prime. No-one else really staying there which was a bit weird, but can't be helped.

Pros: The most nicest staff! Rooms are not very spacious but have everything you need! Good breakfast and in the middle of the city center.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous pool and it’s so quiet and relaxing
Cons: Breakfast could do with larger choice Fridge in room would help
6.3 Good
Pros: Lovely design and pool. Delicious breakfast although it wasnt included. Good location.
Cons: The staff didn't speak english, they need an english speaking person on site in the day and we had a room that suffered from damp and looked nothing like the photos. The manager was helpful and did compensate us as we left a night early which was a nice touch.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: They gave us an upgrade to a small property next door. The VIP area. A small annex with 6 rooms and a pool. The decor was wonderfull. I really liked the big rooms and big bathroom.
Cons: There were only tables for 2 persons for breakfast. We were with 4, so had to split up.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location was excellent. Quiet. Intimate.
Cons: Ice would have been nice.
7.1 Good
Pros: it’s in a great location. The paid breakfast was reasonably priced and good. The pool and garden area is lovely, a great place to relax and read a book - a little oasis in a busy city.
Cons: The staff weren’t as friendly as in other hotels we stayed at in Mexico and despite it being a very friendly city. The bed could do with a new mattress and the gaps round the windows and doors in our room meant we had mosquitoes coming in.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: After4 days of horseback riding competition in Progreso (exhausted!), my daughter and I have decided to spend weekend in Merida centro. The hotel was perfect for both relaxing and exploring the city as the location was so convenient yet offering quiet and relaxing atmosphere. We enjoyed tastefully decorated rooms, beautiful pool, and wonderful breakfast by the courtyard. Besides free parking 50 meters away was a big plus! There was small miscommunication with staff (probably language related, nothing major) and the owner helped us out and even offered us free upgrade to their best suite, which we didn't expect nor thought it was necessary at all, we were already happy at where we spent our first night! We appreciated it very much and also it was a pleasant surprise that management did care for their guest's best experience in this highly rated boutique hotel. I'd definitely recommend it and will stay there again in our next visit to Merida.
Cons: Nothing really.
7.9 Good
Pros: Breakfast had great quality and was served without any one time wrappings! Outstanding.
Cons: Couldn’t extend the stay, unfortunately.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved this hotel! In the beginning we were a little bit dissapointed because of the size of the room. If you book the smallest room, you get a really small room. Anyway, it didn't really matter: they have a really nice swimming pool with chairs,... And the bathroom was big enough with nice soap, shampoo,... But if you want a bigger room, pay for it, they have 2 great rooms with view on the pool and a hammock. The location was also perfect: like 5 minutes from the city center with free parking (1-2 minutes walking). Breakfast was the best of our trip (it wasn't included, but it was still worth the 80 pesos). You could choose from 3 options: continental breakfast, american or mexican. We chose continental: there was fruit, a croissant or yoghurt with granola, bread with amazing jam (really good!), thee or coffee. Last but not least: the people who work there are really professional and nice!
Cons: We thought the room was a bit too small, so if you care about this: book a bigger room ;-) But go to the hotel, because it's perfect! :-)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great locations. The rooms were nicely decorated and comforable. The pool was definitely a nice touch in the city as it was scorching. The cocktails were also real good.
Cons: The room was a little on the dark side, but meant it was cool. Would have been useful if they had a few options at lunch, as by 1pm the city was so hot and we just wanted to sit pool side.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is superbly located, and paired with great service, you can't go wrong.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location in main hotels zone is an advantage with walking distance to attractions, resturants, etc. The hotel is extremely clean. The room is big, with king size bed, which is absolutely comfortable. The staff are very friendly and gave me an excellent king room in front of the swimming pool area, which is a quite area. Though this hotel is rated 3-stars in booking, it's really better than many 5-stars hotels that appear in booking.
Cons: None.
7.9 Good
Pros: Breakfast, wi fi connection, room
5.0 Okay
Pros: the pool and updated floor and lobby. the person that checked us in was very knowledgeable and pleasant. was able answer all our questions.
Cons: our room was dirty. the lamp same was dirty and on the sheets can see the dirt. our floor needed to be upgraded. the first floor was nice, bright and updated. our floor had dirty carpet and very dark.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was simpathetic to my complaints and were happy to cancel the contract without charging any fee.
Cons: The whole hotel smelled of Mold from the corridors to the rooms. Curtains were stained. Maintainance is urgently needed there. It didn't have a mini bar. It is overpriced for what it offers.
7.5 Good
Pros: Did not eat breakfast as was expensive
Cons: Internet was v slow and bad
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Bed very comfortable pillows excellent.the pool is so nice and sheltered.
Cons: They were doing renovations so did not have any sun umbrella,s by pool I was in the shade most of the time.but I am sure people with children would like umbrellas.

9.6 Excellent
Cons: Would have been good to have a little fridge in the room
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good hotel, my room was huge. Have to note that the water pressure of the shower is good, which seems to be a rarity in Merida lol. Met all expectations. Wifi is on the slightly slow side (around 2-4Mbps) compared to other places I've stayed in but it's manageable.
Cons: Wished the breakfast wasn't so expensive :/
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is basic but good (fruit, eggs, cereal, coffee, juice...). The room was clean and the whole place looked remodeled (in comparison with other old hotels from the area). We felt confortable and safe. Hotel is a few blocks from Catedral. We made around 10 minutes by walking.
Cons: Rooms do not have irons, you need to request them on front desk. Unfortunately, there were not any available by the time we needed it (around 9 p.m.).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel Maria Jose is great. Very comfortable beds, spacious rooms, good setting and feel to the place. The swimming pool is a little small but nice place to relax and cool off. The reception staff were friendly and within the reception area you can sit and relax and they have free ice tea. The location is great, only a few minutes walk to all the main areas (Parque Santa Lucia, Plaza Grande) but a 20 minute walk from ADO bus terminal. There's plenty of good places to eat nearby and a bar across the street, on the corner, that has live music.
Cons: The shower took a little while to heat up. The toilet lid was broken. The aircon was a little noisy and the breakfast staff could of put on a smile.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The bed was very comfortable. There was a parking nearby and this was very convenient, as we travelled by car.
Cons: We could not be connected in wifi.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This hotel was located within walking distance to Gran Plaza and Paseo de Montejo. Staff was friendly but a little basic Spanish skills maybe needed at times. A/C was great! The front desk can book day trips to Mayan ruins or Cenotes or other points of interest into interior of the Yucatan.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely pool and good breakfast
Cons: Windowless room
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very good location. Good breakfast. Walking distance to the city centre. Free parking place in the hotel or if no space we can park the car in a nearby parking area (still free of charge).
Cons: Very weak wifi in the whole hotel.
7.5 Good
Pros: We spent two night there. Position was good and we had a free parking place. Staff was friendly and breakfast was good. We enjoyed the pool, too.
Cons: The staff did not speak English very well, but was willing to help.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location is pretty good but there are many more, better, hotels to choose from.
Cons: Breakfast is a literal first come first serve. Nothing is replenished after it is empty. During breakfast ‘waiters’ try to get tips out of you for serving bad coffee (if that) and literally asking for it. When we didn’t give a tip for their bad service the first morning, there was absolutely no service the next day. The internet in our room was bad, our devices didn’t connect. We had to walk back to the common areas to make use of the WIFI. This is bad because we choose this hotel for it’s WIFI review. Our multiple complaints about the bad WIFI went unanswered by the reception staff and even the owner and they didn’t want us to change rooms because they were supposedly full (lying to our faces).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice place and personnel.

The majestic Fiesta Americana Mrida rises up at the intersection of Mrida's two most important avenues: Colon and Paseo Montejo, with Porfirian-style architecture that retains an exquisite elegance, together with modernity and technology; elements that ensure a pleasurable stay.An icon of the White City, a meeting point of Merida's society and an attractive destination for vacation and business travelers alike, without a doubt one of the best hotels in Merida, Mexico.By day or night, the hotel is breathtaking and entering, delights the eye with its elegant lobby decorated with mosaics, a central fountain and armchairs all around inviting to enjoy the elegant atmosphere. The Fiesta Americana Mrida has an adjacent shopping mall and a business center. Its convenient location allows you to reach the airport in 25 minutes and seven minutes from downtown, where you can learn the colonial heritage of the city, listen the Yucatecan trova notes and sample the typical dishes. We remind you that the check-in time is from 3:00 PM. Check-out is at 12:00 PM. We suggest you use our express check-out service.
7.9 Good
Pros: The hotel is great although some little details need attention like water temperature in shower was not hot enough for me and water pressure needs to be increased probably by changing the shower heads to some more efficient
Cons: Check in/out process was good however there were some promotional people from the hotel picking up guests to offer memberships that I found a bit annoying
6.3 Good
Pros: I did not eat anything from the hotel.
Cons: Given the price of the room, there should have been continental breakfast as well as free coffee and tea for use in the room. The 2 little coffee capsules placed n the room were not free and if used would be charged. We were given 1 bottle water in the room when in most hotels its 2. The bed was a bit hard. On the positive side, the location is great and the ambience is good.
7.5 Good
Pros: Nothing special, but serves its purpose. Probably renovated recently.
Cons: No workout equipment in the gym as shown on the pictures. The staff informed us that they currently change the setup. Okay, but why didnt the hotel management inform potential guests about it and let them decide, if they still wanna come or change their reservations accordingly??
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable place with great staff. Comfortable bed. Nice neighborhood. Food it pretty good, with many choices, including good salads and vegetables. Plain yogurt and other choices in the morning. I love plain yoghurt. Plenty of fish and potatoes and other things too. Helpful concierge. The elevator is very fast and amazing! Two bottles of water included each day. I brushed my teeth with the tap water and it was ok.
Cons: Fitness center is poor. They only had some treadmills and 1 cross-training machine (I think that is what it is called). And free weights, but no bench. I was expecting there to be at least 1 stationery bike, but there was none. Those bikes are easier on my knees. And I was hoping for some weight machines for upper and/or lower body, but there were none. I hope someone reads this and upgrades the fitness center. It is so basic and was very disappointing. Other than that, the hotel is great.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel it is really nice, the food was excellent. The personnel super friendly and helpful.
Cons: The main entrance to the hotel in the shopping area smelled really bad/weird, mix between food and mold. They could invest in a deodorant system there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent!
Cons: Everything.
7.9 Good
Pros: Reception people were really good, the club where we had our BF and coffee breaks, I would like to thank Alfonso for his hospitality and other people in the club. The atmosphere of the hotel was fantastic. Also the location was so convenient for me to go to the conference.

Pros: Good location
Cons: You need to pay in advance. For me it was a surprise that the key card of the room stop working and when I went to the front desk to get it fixed, they told me It got deactivated automatically because I need to pay the night in advance. So this works like a pension or prepaid room.

Pros: We selected this hotel because it is right next door to the US Consulate, the rooms were modern and affordable and they are a pet friendly property. We wrote to the hotel in advance to ask what if any special requirements they had for pets and did not receive a reply. Upon arrival, we learned that the hotel needs a copy of our dog's vaccinations. This wouldn't have been a problem, had we received a reply from the email we sent well in advance - it is hard to come by at 8pm at night, when the papers are 4 hours away. Eduardo was working and saved the day - he allowed us to have our vet forward the documents in the morning and held on to a cash deposit to keep us honest. He was very helpful, providing dining recommendations that were fantastic. The room was clean, comfortable and very well designed, we had a perfect visit and look forward to our next trip to Merida. Thanks Eduardo!
