9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great place. Lovely staff. Good onsen. Food was tasty. Staff go the extra mile to provide you whatever you need. Also do daily shuttles to what place you’d like to ski. Rooms are also nice and big, with a sink and fridge. Wish we could’ve stayed longer and hope to return.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best part of our stay was meeting the hosts Soul and Hiro. These are 2 of the most beautiful people we have meet on our travels. They could not do enough to help either transporting us around making us dinner or breakfast. The Hotel was spotlessly clean and the Onsen was fantastic after skiing I would highly recommend this place to stay. Can not wait to return next year.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All the previous positive comments are true!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were great, the food was amazing, we loved the Onsen and traditional room. The room was a great size and the hosts make you feel right at home. So and Hiro are so kind, they make you feel like part of the family. Their shuttle service was amazing too!
Cons: The town is very small so if you are looking for something more lively this is not the place for you.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent stay! Definitely going back next time. The owners are very nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts Soichiro and Hiroe were amazing and treated us very well, driving us to Akakura and ski resorts each day. They were very accommodating and friendly and made the stay very memorable for our group. We would definitely recommend Resort Project to other travellers and will be back again.
Cons: It was all great, the location was out of town but it was not an issue as we were given lifts around town, which saved on using the local bus to get to each ski resort.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: A gem- the property is amazing
Cons: Nothing- staff are super helpful and obliging
8.0 Excellent
Pros: hotel service
Cons: transportation
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast top grade. Clean and modern, with exceptional views and facilities. All staff helpful, polite and top class.
Cons: Had a delicious meal in French restaurant, but am still annoyed over ridiculously small serve of over priced red wine at table. Felt insulted by such a small serve.
8.0 Excellent
Cons: The Hotel has a policy that guests have to book dinner before 4pm. This rule is inflexible and cause inconvenience to guests.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location, staff, cleanliness, comfort, quality of the food at dinner and drinks - really wonderful
Cons: The new Japanese buffet breakfast was very disappointing - this used to be a proper meal and now it is an average breakfast. I also had a small issue with a mistake in the wine list.

Pros: the owners were amazing and everything was fantastic. we loved it there!!
Cons: nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly welcome and super helpful! Awesome few days there.
Cons: Walls were a bit thin, but it didn't bother me one bit.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Miyu and Kimmy were wonderful hosts. They have a lovely home and my two kids felt at ease immediately. They especially loved playing with the host children. The house is not too far from town and a shuttle to the centre was offered each day so that we could get the kids to ski school on time. They also do great beers at night with a fun atmosphere. Unfortunately we were on bunk beds but this was expected as I knew what I had booked before I got there. Nevertheless there was lots of room and the beds were comfortable for us. Breakfast with coffee is included and Miyu makes wonderful soups for every morning. Kimmy drove us to Myokokogen station for a reasonable fee on our last day and they even helped us organise for our snowboards to go directly to the station. We will definitely try to visit again. Thank you for being so hospitable to us and our girls this week.
Cons: There was only one family/ women’s shower area but this cannot be helped. We were happy to time our shower at a time when it wasn’t busy. The hosts can also recommend a good onsen instead for a good price.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The beds and blankets were very nice. Hospitality and service was fantastic. Well kept and clean as well as good sized amenities.
Cons: The walls were quite thin and with curfew of 11 it was quite loud and hard to sleep late into the late. Would prefer an earlier curfew of 10.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed at Japowhouse for 5 nights, and Kimi and Miyu made us feel instantly welcome. The house is warm and cozy and a home away from home. The rooms are spacious and clean and the downstairs lounge/bar is a great communal area to meet other skiers. Kimi is a wealth of knowledge on the local mountains and Miyu makes a mean Katsu sandwich. We will definitely be coming back to Japowhouse again!!
7.9 Good
Pros: Kimi and Miyu were wonderful hosts. The lodge is kept very clean and tidy, and always has a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Kimmy & Miyu are the best! Japowhouse is lovely, modern and clean. The bar area is very welcoming and cozy. Kimmy loves to talk snow and skiing and is stoked for you to have fun in Myoko. Both he and Miyu are ready to answer any questions you have about where to ski, onsen or eat. All their recommendations were were on point.
Cons: Very little not to like. Only thing you could complain about is that it’s a bit of a walk to the center of town. But honestly it’s kind of nice that it’s a bit quieter.

6.0 Good
Pros: The staff were extremely helpful and friendly Very polite and genuinely lovely people Private bathroom in the room was a bonus
Cons: The whole complex was tired and dated and in need of an update But perhaps typical of the area
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Receptionists are nice and helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Felt like a home away from home! Room was a great size, beds were cozy, breakfasts were delicious! Close to everything. Great local recommendations and the family who run the Star Hotel were incredibly kind! Couldn’t have asked for more!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great position, owners/staff were always willing to help, room was huge compared to the last place I stayed
Cons: No drying room for snow gear but the gas room heater did the job
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very convenient location. Restaurants and shops a few steps from front door. Five minute walk to International Ski School rental shop and about 10 minute walk to nearest lift. Basic accommodation. Beds were firm, which is better than most beds we’ve had in Japanese ski resorts! Family room fitted 4 of us, but needed to be disciplined to be tidy, otherwise it would be difficult to move! Family is lovely and are very welcoming.
Cons: Rooms had good heating. Rest of place a little drafty. Lacks a communal area that you could meet other guests in the evenings after skiing. Dining room could possibly do this, but was clearly more set up for meals only.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The traditional experience along with the pleasant and cooperative manner of the hotel owner's. The traditional and different breakfasts each morning were beautiful cooked and presented.
Cons: Nothing really. We were very happy with hotel and excellent staff.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff were so lovely and accommodating to our group. It’s a traditional pension style accommodation with western-facility in room but the option to onsen and enjoy Japanese style set breakfasts.
Cons: An older property than some alternatives, but has a lift to access 5 levels and all the facilities needed to have a good nights rest. No negatives for us!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The accommodation is located in the main street of Aakura Osen area, ski resort, restaurant and shops are all in short walking distance. The room was big and comfort, home made breakfast and dinner were great, owners are very nice and helpful, during the day when we arrived in the bus stop, because it was heavy snowing, they offered us a pick up that was really unexpected! Discount lift passes can be arranged in the front desk.
Cons: They didn't have much heat in the corridor and no hot water in the washroom, experienced a bit hard time when trying to wash my face in the morning ...

7.9 Good
Pros: Great hosts - shuttles to the village and ski fields- options to dine in - did I mention great hosts? Very accommodating and lovely people, and probably enough to get you back despite some location issues. Lodge accommodation provides a good setting to meet other guests and can be an opportunity for single travelers to find ski buddies.
Cons: Just a bit away from the main village - OK in good weather (which you don’t really want) but a struggle in “normal” snow years if you want to stay beyond the 8:00pm shuttle back home.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: host was extremely friendly and I like their bed so much. It's comfy and warm.
Cons: Location is a bit far from the center of street. Other than that, it's a wonderful place to stay.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The property is very cozy and the owners make you feel like at home. The food there is the best we have tried in Myoko. Totally recommend their dinner.
Cons: Everything was good. One of the toilets (women) was locked so only one available and only 1 shower, so need to be aware of time.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners were always there to help. They truely made you feel at home.

6.7 Good
Pros: Amazing view of river.
Cons: So many rules; can’t shower in the morning, pay to use fridge, pay to use toaster / microwave, pay to rent towel, night curfew, have to leave the key at reception. Felt like I was on high school trip. Also a very long walk from town after a day on slopes and if you want to get food in town. You can only get lift one way in morning only.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were so friendly, they picked us up and dropped us off. Very cute dog there as well and the beds were very comfortable!
Cons: It is located down a hill from the main street, so it can be a little tiresome to walk to down especially with all your gear.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: traditional japanese breakfast was fantastic, very friendly hosts.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location. Its a little ways downhill from town, but next to a creek and nice & quiet. Very kind & helpful hosts! Yummy traditional dinner! I would not hesitate to stay here again.
Cons: Need to rent towels, or pay extra to access toaster, fridge, microwave, etc. Not a big deal but an included towel would be nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very helpful. The room was a comfortable size and walking distance to the main street. Had a very convenient drying room and indoor storage for snowboards. Would recommend to others.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful hosts Clean and comfortable room Nice breakfast Lovely hot ofuro Good drying room for ski gear
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved that this felt like our own secret getaway from the main area. You felt miles away, but were really only a picturesque 10 minute walk (a little longer if it’s snowing or slippery). The surroundings are absolutely beautiful and we had a stunning view of the wintery forest from our window. The place was warm, comfortable, quiet and spotlessly clean. The owners were so lovely and drove us into the slopes every morning and offered towels and a laundry service for a small price (300 yen). If you don’t feel like walking into town, a home cooked breakfast and dinner is available at the house (1000 yen for breakfast and 2000 yen for dinner). We had friends in town whom we met each night so didn’t get to try dinner but the other guests said it was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our delicious breakfast daily. There’s also male and females shower with Onsens, dry rooms for all your snow gear and a fireplace with massage chair if you want to read a book. This is the ideal place for those who aren’t too interested in the party scene in Akakura (the door is locked at 10.30pm), and are looking for a quiet escape in a traditional home with picturesque surroundings. Having said that, we didn’t find it too difficult to have a few drinks in town on most nights - you just have to be happy to walk home or wait for a taxi (which may not run if the snow is too thick). We loved our stay! Thank you Pension Mile Post. We’ll be back :)
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Hosts were very friendly and very organised. They have a nice property and we enjoyed our stay very much.

Pros: Super lovely place to call home for 4 nights! Seiko and Hiro went above and beyond to make my stay super comfortable! Loved the little onsen in the home and the dorm room had everything you needed to make it functional/practical and comfortable! Loved the gyoza dumpling night where we made and ate them together! Delicious!! Best gyozas I've had to date!

Pros: Small & old school!
Cons: Super friendly
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Cleanliness, price, shuttle to the ski village, owners are exceptionally accommodating.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Seiko was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The shuttle to and from akakura was very much appreciated as the walk into town in poor conditions is not easily done. The facilities were very clean and our room very comfortable. We were in a 4 person female only dorm and had it all to ourselves. The gyoza cooking night was also really fun. Thank you Seiko for our lovely stay!
Cons: The walk into town is fine but in poor conditions not the best.

Pros: Fantastic location, very family friendly. Beds were comfortable. Good size rooms.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very cool location, located right on the ski hill but can be a little tricky to get to with lots of bags. The owner was very friendly and did a great job communicating with us.
6.7 Good
Pros: Location to town is good (less than 10 min walk). It was alittle tricky getting bags across snow through as the place is literally on a ski slope. ski in ski out which was perfect very handy! Pretty good value for money- basic amenities and place but good price Awesome view onto the slope from our room
Cons: Heater kept turning off at night.. was abit cold! Alittle loud No breakfast however they have a toaster and kettle so can buy groceries from the supermarket and make your own brekky before hitting the slopes
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great value, close to lifts-100 meters to base quad!, five min walk to town/ restaurants etc. Meals were good value too, cheap small breakfast. Awesome drying room
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location once there. Ski in ski out. Very friendly lovely hosts. Comfortable traditional rooms and the breakfast was basic but tasty. We would definitely stay here again.
Cons: Slightly run down building. Shared onsen is the only available shower but was actually fine. Hosts spoke very little english but we love that and they had a translator on their phone.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location to ski in and out of. Cheap clean facilities. Little dated, but fine for the price.
Cons: Food options aren't great. I prefer to eat in town. Not a good location if you want easy access from the bus stop or Town centre.

Pros: Snow , ski and staff
Cons: Snow along the road. Need snow tire
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and Dinner is amazing. Staff provides nice and warm services. Traditional western room which include big windows and provided the relax feeling. You can see the beautiful snowing view on sofa and beds.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Tucked away high in the mountains; this lodge is a wonderful place to “get away”. Breakfasts and dinners are included. Japanese dinners were very generous and included multiple dishes. A real taste of Japan served authentically on beautiful Japanese china. Japanese breakfasts were a little bit difficult for tummies not accustomed to that cuisine so early in the morning, however, they are not served every day. Staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. They drove us to the ski resort, fetched us each afternoon and included stops at supermarket/ convenience store as required, arranged ski hire and answered the many questions we had. We enjoyed the Japanese style room - very spacious and comfortable. The on-site onsen was superb at the end of a long day. Ensure you have a translation app to assist with communication during your stay.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: it snowed the day we arrived so we were welcomed with the perfect scenery. We drove there and plenty of parking and staff look out for the cars safety (eg making sure it’s parked appropriately to avoid a massive bit of snow hitting it) All the staff, especially the manager, Noriyuki were so kind and caring ... the place has a very warm heart... our baby got sick and all staff members went out of their way to make him better.. .. the meals were epic- total Japanese experience.. we would definitely stay here again
9.0 Excellent
Pros: food and staff and lounge were all lovely
Cons: futons
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very obliging staff. Wondering views into the forest.
Cons: Parts of property are in real need of repair. The repetitive child like music in the restaurant really needs to change.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Comfy bed in a warm and welcoming cabin. Amazing food every morning/night and wonderful, happy, helpful staff. Loved staying here.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I love this place, the staff, the location, it’s amazing dry room, it’s simplicity. Of all my ski trips around japan I’ve kept coming back and loving it here. Just a pity this year the snow didn’t come. Oh well. We still had fun. Absolutely lovely staff who do a great job. I’ll miss it here. Returning to Australia soon but I hope to return one day.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff
Cons: All was amazing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Big room. Kitchen in the room. Bowling the hot water yourself.
Cons: Carpet floor somewhat hard to sleep.
7.9 Good
Pros: Good to experience traditional Japanese accomodation. The hosts were very friendly. Excellent drying room and room to set up snowboards. The food was excellent and a good variety of mostly Japanese food. Beers can be kept cold by opening the window and placing them in the snow on the roof :-)
Cons: Too many stairs for my old knees, low headroom for anyone over 170cm. The mattresses on the floor were thin and not comfortable at all.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The breakfast and dinner were excellent and great value and the staff wonderful
Cons: We were in a loft room above the dining room. The first night we were kept awake by a Japanese family singing ‘shout to the lord’ and other hymns at the piano located directly under our beds. The next night we were kept awake by drunk Australians having a room party in the room opposite. Proving that no matter who else is staying at the accommodation, you will be kept awake

Cons: A bit old fashion
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The views of the Monut Myoko from the hotel room were spectacular and amazingly beautiful. The hotel has good infrastructure and nice attractions such as illuminations, golf course and hot springs. The free shuttle service between the railway stations and the hotel was also very convenient.
Cons: The hotel will be closed during the winter season, so, we will have no chance to come back there to appreciate the great and scenic Mount Myoko, certainly covered by deep snow.

Pros: quiet and nice surrounding
Cons: far away from any shops and restaurants, 4,000 yen for A so so buffet dinner is robbery.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was absolutely spotless clean, comfy bed, quiet, wonderful Shiseido shampoo, conditioner and body wash available in the room, public hot bath (onsen), games on hire for free, free shuttle bus from Joetsymyoko JR station, great selection of Japanese and Western breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff, check in and check out process very efficient and easy. Great Wi-Fi access. I highly recommend the Illumination Park event for visitors outside the skiing season, it was very pretty and park tickets are available at all Lawson and 7-11 in Japan for a discounted price of ¥1400 (normally ¥1500).
6.7 Good
Pros: The fresh air. The APALLUSION.
Cons: There was NO reply from you inspite of repeated messages from me regarding pick up from train station. Also, very limited food options.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: English speaking staff that are so helpful. The hotel has a great hot spring and Onsen facilities. The rooms have a great view of Mt Myoko. The rooms are large, luxurious and with comfortable beds and linen.
Cons: The buffet was over priced for the selection of dishes. Great Indian curries but most dishes seemed Chinese based and lacked the variety of Japanese dishes and fresh food we have seen in other hotels for 1/2 the price.
