Smart and stylish looking hotel
1) We only chose this hotel because of the advertised rooftop pool. VERY, VERY disappointed to arrive and find that it was closed, amid renovations. Who renovates their rooftop pool in August in a city where it is 90+ degrees every day? We feel like we were tricked into choosing this hotel on an amenity it did not possess. 2) The staff were friendly, but a bit clueless. On our first day we went out for several hours in the morning 8.00-14.00. When we came back our room was not made up. When we asked them if it could be serviced they seemed unsure and surprised by the question! 3) There was no iron or ironing board in the room. When we asked for one they said it would be up right away. 20 mins later we chased for it and it was like we had never asked before. 4) I was there on business and in important meeting when the hotel contacted me to tell me they needed my room and I had to check out. When I called the hotel to asking what they were talking about, they were adamant that I had only booked for 3 nights. When I then forwarded them the email confirmation showing that I had booked for 4 nights they asked me to call back, because they couldn't call out to an international number! So I had to call them to ensure they weren't going to evict me from a hotel room that I had booked. Eventually they admitted the mistake was on their side. No apology, no gesture for the stress and inconvenince caused - they took a couple of hours to confirm; utterly ridiculous. So between being mis-sold a hotel with a non-operational rooftop pool and being incorrectly threatened with eviction, this was not a clever experience.
My room was not ready at 3 PM. I waited another 1 1/2 hours and still no room. There were only three totally untrained staff in the entire hotel. The only housekeeper who appeared seemed frazzled and overworked. They kept offering me other rooms facing a wall. (I reserved a city view.) All the facilities advertised (gym, pool, restaurants, etc, were “closed for renovation.” Almost two hours after I arrived, they said they had my room ready. When we got to my floor, most of the hallway was soaking wet (maybe a flood...Who knows?) Upon entering my room, it seemed “war torn”and old. I started to close the door and found that the lock was broken. A nice worker told me that he would have to replace a part which did not fit that particular door. I closed the door and called another Hotel and then left. I was told I would not be charged, of course. Two of the three staff members were very apologetic and said they understood why I was leaving and didn’t blame me themselves. One of the two staff people helped me with my luggage, walked me down to the corner and hailed a cab for me. I gave him a tip for being a kind person! Nothing. Read the above statement!
Everything. There is a skeleton staff, and nothing about this place is as It is advertised.
Nice proximity to the Highline and Hudson Yards. Cool Japanese design vibe.
My biggest issue were the tons of fruit flies coming out of the bathroom drains. Requested early check in for 1 PM and someone confirmed the request, but room wasn’t ready. No problem, took a long walk and came back at 3. They gave me the keys, but the room still wasn’t ready and was being cleaned. Pool and roof were closed indefinitely, which wasn’t apparent to me when I originally booked through a third party website and the main reason I picked the hotel to begin with. I realized after seeing a sign posted on the elevators. (No idea what the $25/night facility fee is for with all the amenities being closed). The $10 warm water bottles for purchase in the room made me laugh. The TV had a ton of channels that are just static. Minor, but I’m pretty certain they advertised HBO & Showtime? I don’t think my tv had those channels, but maybe I just missed finding them. The room fridge didn’t work. As I tried to check out of the hotel, I was greeted with a “can I help you” attitude as if I was interrupting her which was uncharacteristic of all the other staff I had interacted with throughout the week. In general the staff were very friendly, but the place just seems run down.
Great Hotel. + Very stylish rooms + Interesting area + Good breakfast + Rooms very clean, no carpets
Shaky service - Totally undertrained staff. Reception did hardly know the name of the hotel! - Breakfast restaurant with good food, but again very slow service, staff hardly know what they are doing.
The location was nice and close in proximity to my studio. The overall decor was cool and the restaurants looked nice
1. Service was really poor. People were friendly in general, but service was really slow. Breakfast took almost 30 minutes to come out even though I was the only person there and I ordered toast. 2. The building seemed badly maintained. The AC wasn't working for a little bit and it was 100 degrees outside. The hot water stopped working at one point as well
