The location was o k
Horrible hotel, horrible room, not clean, very small, the toilets were filthy
Affordable and good location
No elevators, very small bathroom
The property was across the street from Madison square garden
No soap in the bath room super tiny rooms , lamp didn’t work , tv was in black and white , no fridge , no couch or place to eat , it was basically a jail cell you got a bed a toilet and a sink with some black and white tv.
Front desk staff were very friendly and easy to talk to. It was right around the corner from Madison Square Garden, and central to lots of what we were aiming to travel through. The black out curtains were three layer and make the room decently dark for sleeping.
They weren't ready for checkin at 3, and we checked in more like 3:30. It's not indicated on booking.com but they make you pay an additional $100 as an incidental deposit on your credit card. They say that if you owe more, because the room is left in damaged condition, it will not be refunded. You sign a contract for it and they photocopy your drivers license. If they don't keep your $100, they say it will be returned in 7 days. When we got to the room I noticed that it was still very dirty - staining on the walls and headboard, bent radiators, and dirt all over the wooden floors. The curtain ties had all been ripped of their velcro. The hair drier was melted and unusable and sparked when you plugged it in. The shower curtain was so small that when you used the shower it flooded the floor. It took 15 minutes of running the shower to get warm water. We were only given half a roll of toilet paper and when we called in the night because we needed more, there was no answer from the front desk. The one communal bathroom in the building is all the way in the lobby and locked at all times - you have to ask a staff person to use it. I knew that this would be no frills because of the price, but when I'm judged for how the room is left for an extra $100, I feel the need to be critical of what the situation is from the start to make sure nothing is blamed on my use. The location, because it's central, is VERY loud. They do offer ear plugs but again, you have to go to the front desk to get them. We kept the fan for the AC on all night to try to make the noise consistent. Honking, fighting, sirens, etc. The bed is pretty low to the floor. The mattress is old enough that if you roll over in the night and are close to the edge, it caves and you fall off the bed.
